I saw that B5 pawn move without even knowing why. If I could play chess consciously as well as my unconscious mind sees things, I might actually be a good player instead of a mediocre one.

I was thinking the move was b5 to stop the knight from getting any further action, then activate the king. But SF17 said nope - Kc7 is +3.5, e5 is +3, while b5 is +2 @ 30 depth. All three are winning however.
@@no-one-in-particular It depends what settings you're using your GUI. I have several chess gui's, and not all of them evaluate positons from whites side. On some gui's you can also set it to eval from black's side. In any case, if you'd been paying attention to the video, Kc7 was clearly stated to be the winning move... so how could it have been minus 3.5? Use a bit of common sense.

Do you mean minus (for black)?

Why didn't Lasker push the a pawn to kick the bishop? Then the queen couldn't even end up on a5. Just saying.
Probably because a3 Bxc3 bxc3 Qa5 still better for black.
