Thank you for noting this before me! I'm old fashioned, I guess, but this matters to me and I believe the age of the player, when they're a teenager, matters in context.
A 16 year old playing in a Candidates tournament is quite an accomplishment. People expecting Bobby to win this tournament is unreasonable, especially with his 0-4 record against tournament winner Mikhail Tal. History played out as it should with Tal crushing Botvinnik. Tal's bad habits and poor health kept him from having a long reign.
Man, I really love your channel. It’s good to see you getting some recognition and airtime. I saw you commenting on a recent major chess event. All the best! Keep up the good work!
The usual excellent presentation of a game I can study intently late at night with my cocoa and Oreos - lots to learn here. But I am spoiled - I like it better when Bobby WINS! 😊
This was certainly quite a memorable game with some really cool play but it shows that in 1959 (and perhaps still in 2024) even super Grandmasters had (and maybe still have) a lot to learn about engames! One would think players as strong as Gligorich and Fischer were at the time would have known this endgame cold but it was not the case.
My 60 Memorable games number 12. 53.Rc5! wins but was not played as White captured the pawn on b5. Quite a remarkable game as Fischer was under a lot pressure from the beginning.
The 15yo Bobby taking on one of the greats with black. With no army of trainers behind him he was the best ever IMOHO.
Bobby was 15-16 here, and Gligoric twenty years older.

That was cool.
Why on some vids is a pause always followed by the next one or two words being muted?
