Thank you for showing this game. Capablanca is my hero, we are both from Havana, Cuba. I love Chess, I wish I was born with his talent and his genius brain, that adjusted his game while playing with Juan Corzo in Cuba at an early age. He sure made us proud to be Cuban and represented us around the world. When people call you the Chess Machine and the Mozart of Chess, that's cause he was one of the greatest geniuses that the world has seen. Thanks for your video, I enjoyed it.
@@squareonechess6939 If not mistaken, not a historian in Chess, if Capa would have been a USA citizen, he probably would have been a USA champion. I would imagine citizenship in those days is not like today, many countries allow you to have duals. I just wish I played like Capa in those games against Juan Corzo in Cuba, I'm sure I could beat most people. I regret not going to the New York Chess Club since I grew up in Jersey and grew up going to NYC, I believe the Club closed a few years ago. Adios
My old computer tought 5:22 minutes Capablanca-Reti game move and solved! Same computer tought only 4:37 minutes Kasparov-Keamnik game move and solved! Computers telling the truth Capablanca better than Kasparov!!
to be honest, you got to admire marshall's determination. although he lost this game, the only reason is that it was capablanca defending. nowadays, imagine a player who loves attacking playing against the marshall attack and having to defend. they will likely crack under the pressure. the marshall attack also brings out why the ruy lopez is bad in the sense that it exposes that white falls behind in development by opening the center and giving black counterattacking possibilities.
I first saw this game in the book The World's Greatest Chess Games. The lines are so complex it melts your mind. However if Marshal had found c6 instead of Nf6 things might have been different. Interestingly Nepomniatchi has conjured a similar type of attack out of his Petrov defence!!
Marshall never was the greatest tactician in the world. Already before WW1 Rudolf Spielmann (who had 50% against Capa) and Alexander Alekhine were superior.
Hi and enjoying the shows I was watching a show where your dissecting a game between capablanca and Marshall and then I believe that about timestamp 10:42 you did a scenario where Queen took Bishop on D3 and then you asked can you find mate in four if you want to pause the video so I did and all I could see was Checkmate in one with Bishop to H2 of course I was loaded when I was watching Unless I miss something you said about the scenario

Glad you enjoyed! I agree, and I think he was as talented as Carlsen, maybe more!

Great analysis of a super game!
Marshall created one of the greatest openings of all time but his record against Capablanca was an abysmal +2 -20 =28
True
I’ve heard of blind chess, but you take it to a whole new level. Well done sir!
Ha ha , thanks!
Capablanca at his best could beat anyone in an individual game.
My old computer tought 5:22 minutes Capablanca-Reti game move and solved! Same computer tought only 4:37 minutes Kasparov-Keamnik game move and solved! Computers telling the truth Capablanca better than Kasparov!!
I think he would do REALLY well today
as always, your commentary is a delight to listen to! (and I DID see Be6. Just saying!)
Thanks so much!
Excellent explanation!!
Thank you!

yeah the Marshall is so annoying!
I don't play the ruy lopez though, so idk. I usually play 1. d4 instead.
Marshall was all tricks and tactics but Capablanca was a genius.
However, Marshall did play THAT immortal game against Levitsky.
I'll have to keep that in mind -- dont think I've seen that game
🎉 thank you. Great exposition
Thanks!

Those GMs are blessed

Unless I miss something you said about the scenario
you missed and it is very easy, H2 isn’t checkmate since king can go to H1.
Thank you
Wow, a chess story nobody knew anything about. Just kidding, red thumb of course.
LOSE the dark glasses while indoor. This game is super famous btw. Heavily analyzed several times
At 8:18 why not black queen to h5?
Plot twist. This guy is blind and his script is in braille.
Lol
At 12:19 why not Q to h1?
With the help of modern engines, we now know that both of these players are strong 1700’s+!
Lol, I def agree with the + part
gg
you should have flipped the board... I keep watching white's moves
first to enjoy :)
What's up with the sunglasses?
May be to protect his eyes from screen radiatio And adding comfort at starring computer screen for hours.
Why you so nosy? Don’t concern yourself about his sunglasses.
He is a covert agent.
🤣
Bg3??.. Qxf7, RxQ, Re8#
At 8:18 why not black queen to h5?
good question -- looks like white can respond with g4
