I spent a lot of years in cab over I started with a 1972 international transtar and the last cab over I drove was a 1986 Freightliner flat top before they started switching over to the flat floor then I went to the conventional FLC 120 then after that it was just freightliner until 96 then I went to Kenworth w900 I love seeing these old trucks on the road a lot of history I retired last year after 47 years of driving and you bring a lot of joy to me watching you drive these old trucks and that particular transmission when you're shifting in when you go over to go into 9th gear or 6th gear if you bump the accelerator is in let off just a little bit it'll drop right in the gear for you with no problem
Good video again man Candy the Freightliner sounds so good good my friend you was Shift in The gears OK my friend keep up the hard work on the trucks they all are looking good y’all be safe
A little oil leak just keeps the rust away! Check the oil plugs for the jakes, they are very prone to leaking. You can still buy the "oil stoppers" from places like Monaco tools if that's where it's leaking from. At least it's back on the road and saved from the scrap man.
Whenever you take the heads off of them things always double check the small Allen key fuel blanking plugs in the heads and the crossover orings too, they are bad for leaking.
Yea me and a friend had the same issue on a big cam 400 come to find out the rocker boxes had cracks on all 3 rocker boxes but that thing was turned up to the gills too that thing would run 70 up a hill weighing 80k that's going up and down those hill in going towards San Diego on the 15fwy
Candy looks and sounds good. here are a couple of things i would do. your seat is too low, you can see that the steering wheel is above your shoulder. It is not a chopper ;) . the other would be to see if the transmission shifts without crunching when you double clutch it. If it doesn't, the problem is you, if it does, the problem is not you. especially 2nd.
Runs really nice 💪😊 I think Cummins are the best engines. I have a big cam 3 in my 74 W900a. Not the most easy thing to have american made trucks as a hobby here in europe 😅 totally impossible to get 24.5 inch tyres here.
Looks like you need to practice that shifter a little. You’ll get the hang of it. Bummer she still has that oil leak tho. Hope the block is flat and true. But like you said could be the rocker box or possibly jake pack. I think that one will ride a little rougher with the wheelbase and I always found those little air bags to not ride as well as bigger ones. Sounds real good tho. Bet that right window switch is between the seats on center console. Next will you be working on interior? Isn’t that the truck with the bolts sticking thru the roof?
Yes it’s the bolts thru the roof truck. The shifting is totally me I think. It’s weird getting used to how quickly this truck revs up compared to Trisha The leak is the rocker shaft seal Keep an eye out for the next vid. And yep I found the non working window switch shortly after this video. I need to get the interior clean and leaks fixed in the roof
@@JamesPretty Good you’ve got the leak figured out. That Cummins revs different than the Cat in Trisha. You’ll get used to it when you drive it a little more. You said that’s a 9 or 10 speed that makes a difference too. Gears are slightly farther apart. Those cable style shifters take a little getting used to. Can’t wait for next video.
It rides like a cabover, I will bet you money you got a liner jumping were the head is leaking you may have to shim the liner in the counter bore, did it many times. Check the liner protrusion, the liner should stick above the head just a wee bit measure it with a dial indicator.

I agree about the seat. I’ll have to get the air rigged up. Looks like someone swapped it and never hooked it up

Getting hard to get tires here lately Ya I like the way this Cummins runs and pretty easy to work on as well
Well at least she runs well.. now you need to figure out that oil leak ..
Keep watchin.
She sounds pretty healthy....
Sure does
Sure does
James have you tried replacing the O-rings on the rocker boxes shafts my big cam 400 had the same problem
You got it. That was the culprit keep an eye on the next video
Anxiously awaiting when Delores will be ready to take for a spin, with that old 2 stroke whining.
Me too believe that
ya think lmao and the jakes work

Maybe talk to a Diesel mechanic about that head maybe you don't have it torqued right good luck great video
It was the rocker shaft seal on the rocker box
Damn! What a sweet ass Freightliner!!
Much appreciated

Ended up being the rocker box shaft o ring
@@JamesPretty Good, easy fix.
Looked the top fuel line was touching the block.
I just noticed that also. Will tend to it as soon as I’m. Back home
I want to watch the mileage is like
Is the passenger window operated by remote by the driver?
Yes it’s an air window
What’s the wheel base?
I’ll stick a tape on it when I get home
I wonder what kind of milage you get out of it
I’ll see what it gets and do a video
Funny how many people don’t listen to what your saying lol hey pretty looks like you can’t shift…… also are the passenger windows on air or manual?
Air
James, do y’all live up around Athens?
No we are near Alabama line
My head leaks at the same spot 😂
Simple oring in the rocker shaft. Next video shows the repair
My head has a leak too, most of the intelligence is now gone...
i would drive it ill take candy lol
Oh man. Candy is my girl
@@JamesPretty sweet ride what u going to do with all the cab oversu have
@@bigbearccoffin might start up a trucking company
You'll have to drive her more too to get used to her quirks...
Ya for sure
😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍❄️🎄🚚
Time for some perm tax the purple stuff you get from pep boys works the best
Candy is a Cummins engine? if you drive it more often there well be least graining of gear... you just need to get use to it that's all trust me.
Ya when I drive it for over half an hours it’s much smoother. It’s just a little worn out. Ya candy is an ntc-350. It’s an 88NT. Tho
Hi
What's up
Howdy
Freightshaker
Ya lol. Appreciate ya
