  • Lack of snow this year made me think it wasn't worth while to even bother putting the blower and cab on the tractor

    I was going to put a block heater on my x750 but I seen a bunch of cold start video without a heater. I will probably put a trickle charger on the battery and just warm the glow plug twice before starting. Thanks for the video.

    Thanks for the video. I just bought a 1025R with a 120R 53” bucket on the loader. Today, with a 3 “ snowfall predicted I will practice plowing with the front loader.

    Hi , i thought i'd put up some comments seeing your video helped me in making my recent purchase. Theres really not a lot of you tube videos or comments out there about using the loader for snow removal. I decided after watching your video though to give it a try before making any additional purchase of either a snow plow or blower. First, some background. I manage a small condo complex, For years we just hired out a snow plow /truck service who came and overcharged us and did a horrible job. I really couldnt fault them too much though. The lot is a tough one with all the cars around and VERY limited space even to push snow with a truck. This year i suggested to the other owners that we just buy a tractor and i'd do the winter maintenance with it. With the layout of the property not only could i do the entire drive but also the sidewalks areas with just a little modification to a fence. First was the decision of which tractor to buy. I narrowed it down to the JD sub compact but debated whether the 1025r vs the 1023E would be the better choice. The 1023E..costing less i really felt had the features i needed and also let me do a little more in terms of adding weights to the wheels. Space was a consideration length wise which even prevented a ballast box so i went with the 170lb weight package on each rear wheel putting 340Lbs extra in the rear. I debated a lot whether to go with turf tires or the industrials and after even talking with goodyear in akron we decided that for plowing on a paved surface the turf tires would be better. Which acted more like a snow tire on a car would. One of my BIG concerns was how was the traction going to be. The entrance to our complex has a hill that is 20-23 degrees and so..just in case..i ordered a set of chains for the rear wheels. Then came the decision on what to plow with. This was really going to be the only use for the tractor ..no mowing or anything. So it all centered on that. A snow blower for us could be difficult. some areas it would be ok but others not as theres really nowhere to blow it to. A plow could work but it didnt have the height advantages of being able to pile the snow up as high in the space limited areas. So..i just went with the loader figuring the others could be added later. After a winter season now with about 10 storms i can SAFELY say..there wont be a later for me. Hands down, i think the loader works...works extremely well and is exactly what was needed for our application. It really plows as good as a plow...especially seeing the tractor has the "float" option to just let the bucket float along the terrain. It works BETTER than a plow because you can tilt and scrape unlike any plow ever could. I can stack the snow REALLY high and it just gets the driveway and sidewalk in a shape like its never been before. People here are VERY happy with this purchase. As for snow sticking there is a REALLY simple solution to that. I first spray the bucket with silicone...then a layer of WD40. Works like a CHARM and barely a drop of snow left in it after plowing even for HOURS. I will also add that i can not believe the TRACTION this tractor has. Even with that steep a hill i have not slipped even ONCE. Nor even SPUN a tire..even ONCE. And that was with a foot high storm...with 14 inch drifts. Definitely..for anyone plowing...do this. Get the TURF tires. Get the added weight option on the rear wheels. If that money is an option.pay for it by getting the 1023E instead of the 1025R. There's just not much difference here except the money that will then pay for the extra weights. Plowing with a tractor will probably take longer than a truck/plow. There's the lifting and moving aspect to it vs. the just pushing snow. And you WILL do a lot more detailed cleanup because you can. Right now i dont have a cab but once i figure out to conquer that cost and height issue of my garage which wont accomodate it..that will be next. There wont be any blower purchase though. Or plow purchase. The loader..works fantastic. Thank you for your video that really was what helped me with that decision. And, i hope my detailed comments help some others with their decision. :) GL to all us JD tractor lovers. :)

      RJ404 thanks for your comment. Hopefully your comment helps someone else too. Sometimes the only way to know is by trying a snow removal method on your own specific property as everyone's requirements are different depending on alot of different factors. The one that works best for me is a loader mounted plow which I have a video of on my channel as well. I was not crazy about the loader bucket for snow or the blower and I have had both

      ahh..ok. i see what you're saying now. When you were saying plow i was just thinking more of a traditional plow but with the loader plow you have the height advantage as well which i definitely needed. For my uses i think i'd still go with the loader bucket though because i also need to move the snow around at times if i run out of room. Like yesterday and today.we had a foot of snow and just plowing it wouldnt have sufficed. I needed to take some down the street from our development. But..for sure..the loader plow is something some will want to consider. I can even see the blower for some people making sense. Maybe a long driveway where blowing it off to either side is quick and easy. Anyways..thanks and some great info for all to share :)

    What if you hit something you can't see, such as a curb. Is that where actual blades have an advantage, being able to tilt on springs?

    • @1teddy1979
      @1teddy1979  6 років тому +1

      stereopolice ya I had a plow before I got my blower and it worked great. Ya if I hit a curb or something solid driving like this and with just the bucket it probably would not be good but since this was my house I know where everything is and there are no curbs or anything like that it was no problem. I have a video of using the plow on here as well so you can check that out if interested

    Hi Nice video can I ask how you rate the JD 1026r , I was considering a Kubota BX25d but these JD 1026r look pretty good

    • @1teddy1979
      @1teddy1979  8 років тому +1

      I love the little deere I drove kubota and massey too before I bought this but in my opinion this one was the best out of those. things like loader removal and mower deck removal and instalation was so much nicer on the Deere also it has stronger hydraulics then the kubota. I have 700 hrs now with no problems at all with it

      Yep I also noticed the quick attach is standard on the JD
      Price point it seems the JD comes in a little higher than the Bx but JD offer 0% at the same price whilst Kubota 'charge' about $1900 extra compared to a cash sale on the Bx

      +Carbon Acreage also I didn't care for the kubota forward reverse pedals compared to the John Deere is much more comfortable for extended forward reverse loader work and things like that

      R M as far as I know it is illegal around here to shove it across the road and leave it. I think the plow drivers would not be real happy about it anyway

    Any issues ruining the cutting edge on the loader? I don't hear you scraping the road at all.

    • @1teddy1979
      @1teddy1979  7 років тому +1

      Justin Roybal no it lasts a long time the cutting edge is really hard steel. I have 750hrs and alot of that is loader work I scrape on cement all the time in the summer no issues

    Have you ever had an issues with the snow sticking to the inside of the loader bucket? Seems like your not having any issues here. Thought about getting a plow, but thanks to your video.. This will do just fine. I've got a 2016 1025r TLB.

    • @1teddy1979
      @1teddy1979  7 років тому +2

      Tmac Tmac I didn't have any issues with snow sticking. that being said this was maybe the 3rd time I have ever moved snow with the bucket because I had a plow previously and then got the blower this snow was also cold and dry so that also may help in not having it stick
