A little tip on hooking your bait. Run your hook thru the spam then spin it 180 and set the point on the opposite side

I found a cheap version of luncheon loaf, like Spam, at Ollies for under two bucks. It didn't taste all that great to me, but I would definitely keep a can in my tackle box for bait.

You can flavour the spam with your favourite attraction, cut in cubes and put in a plastic bag and shake, we use it a lot here in the UK, you can bake the cubes on a tray to make a crust to help stay on the hook.

I had no idea spam is available in the UK. I gues other countries in the world probably sells this greasy, disgusting, unhealthy slop.

Good catch. I grew up on the ohio River using spam. We would dice it into 3/4 inch cubes beforehand. The channel cat and blue cat loved it. Keep the videos coming
Fishing in the rain is great, heck, the fish are already wet, they don't care 😁 Use a fishing vest or fanny pack so you don't come up short on tackle 👍

Cat is healthier to eat than spam, witch is full of preservatives, fat, sodium and nitrates. It is the worst "food" you can eat.
Too much fun, last time I had SPAM was in Hawaii!

I once used hotlink to fish and the results were ASTONISHING! Soon as it hit the water; BAM! I got a bite! Then another and another!!
Hey Silas, great video, looked like a lot of fun! When I was a kid growing up in Iowa, we always used bacon to catch cat fish. Of course back then bacon was only 49.0 a pound, so you know that was in the sixties and early seventies. Were those cat fish good eating?
Here's a couple idea's to make a few more similar video's to make series. Spam also comes in different flavors try different flavors, try just cutting a slice into chunks and letting it dry over night and see if it stays on the hook better and maybe try cooking a slice before using as bait. Just thoughts

In Victoria Australia chasing cod yellow belly perch we can be successful using a matured cheese I don't know if you have fresh water shrimp there here they're attached to the cheese which attracts the fish

Well it sure looked like a great place to fish. I expected maybe some small mouth or crappie to be around. I know you are busy but if you ever get a chance check out the Ginger Fisherman sometime. I think he fishes in England and I am amazed at the fish he catches in what I think of as almost creeks. About 1/2 the size of the one you were at and what I consider big fish although sometimes they are carp. I'm not a carp or catfish person. Would take a big bluegill over a catfish any day. Have a great day and really like your yard videos!!!

Whenever I'm fishing (which isn't very often) and I'm using something other than live bait (worms) I'll use a treble hook. It holds the bait better plus you triple the likelihood of getting a bite.

Liver is great catfish bait. Doesn't matter if it is beer, pork or chicken. If it goes off so much the better. Some guys will wake them up by opening a cheap can of corn and scattering the contents.
Hominy ......or cheesy dough balls....or the little flowers by the stream.... But hey you say Spam.

Wrap your spam in cheese cloth and it will stay on the hook.
Next time prop the kayak up on fallen tree and sit under it.
