Honestly it confuses my brain that the guy with inside position is going to get snapped down. Not saying there's anything wrong with the technique but wondering if the guy with inside position is making a mistake that this capitalises on?

The person with the collar tie loses a lot power of inside position when the person with the overtie forces the ear to the bicep/shoulder. The closing of that space allows for the overtie snap to be effective.

Good question! The overtie snap is one of the few exceptions to being able to snap from the outside ties 👍
