More pearls of wisdom! I love watching your videos. It doesn't matter if you do a walk-about, talk about a tree, a demo, or instruction on a product, I love them all!
Wow that ten years finally paid off! And thats the enjoyment of bonsai. I say from the front tilt the tree slightly to the left and removes that staright trunk coming out of the pot . Great little tree
Watching you work is very instructional. I learn to see as you work. Thank you for sharing your years of experience. The beauty is inspiring and makes me want to practice the art.
Lucky Godfrey, he has pines & you! I take inspiration from you & have started local material, even lantana, which is a bush really. My gardener who has knowledge of legends about trees reprimanded me when he saw me starting tamarind / peepal ( ficus religiousa) trees, & happy with others which bring prosperity 😊 fingers crossed both will cancel each other & I’ll be left with my own luck 😂
As a bonsai hobbyist for 30 years, I still was wincing, even though I thoroughly understood and agreed with some of those big cuts that he took off. You have to be bold and also willing to make a mistake here in there when you're doing bonsai.
I just came across this video and it's very helpful. I didnt have a clue you can transform it this way. I have a dwarf mugo pine that I bought last year. Is this the same mugo pine? Is spring a good time to do this?
Sorry Peter I kind of fell asleep in mid watch, it's been quite a long day. As soon as I woke up I was like gotta re-watch this. I'm glad I did, the transformation on this mugo was amazing, and you got to work on a piece that once was in your nursery so it's kind of like watching your own grow up and needs a bit of touch up to be more presentable in life.
I have a question sir, if u help me to clear the differences between the Literati & Slanting style, it is very confusing topic for me sir, please reply sir kindly
Mr Chen. what timenof year shoukd idealy pine work be carried out. im hearing late fall or even winter... sround here that means temps in the freezing zone.

Spring - Summer and Autumn - Spring is best. In countries which are not too cold in Winter, you can also prune in winter. But protect the tree after pruning.
I just knew Peter was going to show me something special.... I love it!! I love seeing people that know their craft well do their thing... priceless!

I like how you always look at every possibility that a tree has! Great video again Peter! 😀
Amazing how Mr. Chan puts his hand on the tree and it changes its shape !
Extremely helpful to say that you didn't have a clue, it gives the rest of us hope.
Very nice to see the original training work beneath all that growth. Great job! The trunk is very beautiful.
This one was super great material to start with! Of course in refinement comes more beauty
Well done Godfrey! Great material allowing for plenty of variations in refinement. Well on its way to be a beautiful specimen

Yes, there are a lot of masters but we like this one! Sir Peter!
He's mates with the King...might get one yet! (or at least an MBE)
Thank you Peter for the video

Keep it up. I also have two Peepal - they were cuttings from the tree in Bodh Gaya.
@@peterchan3100 yours must be really mature & beautiful, if possible please post a video on peepal tree bonsai too
good video👏👏👏
It's like an ugly duckling turning into a swan. Brilliant transformation.
Well done very informative 😊
A true master

Hi Peter. Is there a good time of year to prune mugo pines?
Spring I think 🤔
Mungo!!!
I love that you took a tree worth £30 and in a few minutes turned into a tree worth £50.
Where can I send my £50 to buy this please?

So seems like you can cut just about anywhere on the tips of the branches. I thought you could only prune the candles
dear Peter, can you let us know how do you usually use pine shavings? thanks in advance :)
Mugo pine can be propagated by aerial marking /airlaier ?

Che mese hai fatto questo lavoro? Grazie
When was this filmed? Is it ok to prune a mugo at the end of September?
Yes

A round or hex pot would help.
There's a saying in western bonsai
"Why use a mugo when you can use black pine"
The character is different
@@peterchan3100 mugo acts more like a bush than a tree
I bought seeds what’s the starting beginning

I don’t think Peter has time to read and answer to all the comments. In any case remember that Google is your friend.

aaww, i was goin to buy maple seeds when the were evelebel but it looks like you don't sell outside the uk.
👍👌🙂
Owner was ready to cry after seeing his tree get destroyed. I don’t see how he thinks it looks great.
It was beautiful tree
It looks world's better. Before it was like a shrub in a pot
@@mamamariola2695 it was a round bush before, now you can see the cascading flow that the owner was after
That stone is no good..
I have a mugo pine that’s similar to that (somewhat) I wish I could share a picture and get some feed back
