Anderson has impressed me for years. love his stuff... Favorite part of super bowl was seeing him unannounced but yet on stage playing the drums with Dre
Anderson is just so effortlessly cool. I'm so happy that Silk Sonic introduced me to him, because every time I watch him, I have a constant stank face. Also, one of my favorite musical phrases is "Once is an error, twice is jazz." haha
I often come to this channel espeically when I am stressed out. The way she laughs, sharesher thoughts are very jolly yet insightful. Thank you for great clips.
Wonderful! I am so glad you are doing a reaction of a Tiny Desk series artist. AP is so smooth. I find the rabbit holes I fall down usually begin with Tiny Desk, PMJ, or Daryl's House performances, that lead to discovering artists for the first time. So glad I found your channel, it is a delight to watch your reactions.
The thing I love about Paak is that his drumming is *tight* while singing those lines. He’s as talented and distinctive as a drummer as he is a singer. So, so, so hard to do, then at the same time? Like Don Henley, Dave Grohl, Chris Cornell, all stepped away from the kit and picked up a guitar instead to sing lead.
Hi Elizabeth, I didn't know that NPR had hosted a series of live concerts, and this is my first time listening to this song. Anderson .Paak, as a drummer, was incredible, and his vocals along w/ the Free Nationals band was amazing. I loved this performance! Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙
I've just watched a few videos of this nice ladies channel and I love it soo much! The way she smiles and loves the music is the absolute best "reaction" UA-cam I've come across, she so much fun.
I'm so happy that you did this video because aside from Metal music which is my favorite genre since ever, the whole Anderson Paak / Thundercat / Kamasi Washington / Jon Baptiste / etc... new wave of modern jazz (I really don't know where else to classify them) is my absolute jam right now
Yes lovely to see and hear someone so rhythmically and musically so gifted his drumming his singing his personality this is genius from street level to stratosphere
Although I did not listen to them in the 80's, "The Outfield" has several songs that have become earworms for me lately. Strange how we get hooked on unique sounding songs.
Enjoyed this reaction! One that I'm always surprised never gets reacted to is "Song to the Siren" by This Mortal Coil (official version, not live as the guitar drowns her voice). Her voice is hauntingly beautiful.
My Good God Elizabeth! Thank you for opening my ears to Anderson Paak! That soul and rhythm, “smooth as a gravy sandwich “ If you’re ever looking for another Anderson, listen to Anderson East
Fun Fact: One of Anderson's first gigs was to be Haley Reinhart's touring drummer, he was known as "Breezy Lovejoy" then. Unfortunately, due to a major shake up in management at Interscope records, over 30 acts were dropped during the shuffle. Haley was one of them, so plans for the tour to support Haley's debut album was unfortunately scrapped.
very groovy, very catchy...can't wait to see how charismatic groovy Elizabeth reacts... ❤ Would be curious about a jazz impro by our Charismatic Elizajazzbeth... 🎶🎹
I'd love to see you react to any of the acoustic sessions the band Nothing More has done. The lead singer, Johnny Hawkins, used to be the drummer until they realized that he has some killer pipes. Johnny manually vibratos his voice with his hand, and I think he's a great example of how the voice is as much an instrument as anything else
he was featured on Dr Dres album many years ago and he was one of the best parts, he is featured in many things but his best is on his albums venice and malibu
I really like how we can feel the passion you have for your job😊. I think that, Forgive me - the Plot in You, can be à good song to analyse. Don't stop your very good work!😁
So cool you did this! Usually here for metal but AP is one of my favourite artists. Would love to see you do Fly As Me, or maybe check out Off the ground or Glowed up for some more electronic stuff with great harmonies.
'Fly As Me' that Silk Sonic performed on the Soul Train Awards would be a treat for you to see. Although the song has a 70's Funk beat, Anderson does an old style of rap over it.
The best tinydesk is Mac Miller's, please do a reaction to that one! Sidenote, Mac Miller and Anderson Paak have a song together, although Mac only preforms his solo songs in his tinydesk
I think it would be fun for you to watch the Haitus Kaiyote tiny desk concert - they are an incredible band and Nai Palm’s voice is just a.m.a.z.i.n.g 😍 Thanks for your videos ❤️
Just want to say I just discovered this channel and it is great. Subbed after watching on video. Also a suggestion for your next prog/alternative/rock choice: Wax Simulacra by Mars Volta. I would love to hear your opinions on the vocals and their drummer at that time was an absolute beast. Thanks for your awesome content!
I've been a fan of his for a few years. At first I really underestimated his singing. He made a music video during the BLM protests called "Lockdown," I'd definitely recommend it.
Gosh, I really love this. Being from Detroit, I have been exposed to rock, funk, motown, disco, and jazz. Being exposed to the genres, I cannot really classify this music. I think it is kind of a mix between jazz and funk. Good stuff.
Wow, thanx for another ear opener I didn't know, this song is really groovy and your review points out many nice details. Stick to your surprises of song picks, that's what i am here for :o)
Loved the video, I always enjoy your perspective! A good song to react to would be either Not Today or Slave the Prey by Sevendust. Can’t wait for the next episode!
Great to see you get into the tiny desk series. I would love to see you react to two amazing groups: first is i'm with her. Sarah Jarozs, Sara Watkins and Aoife O'donovan sound amazing together; The second is the wailin' jennys. Nicky mehta, Ruth Moody and Heather Masse make amazing songs between them; As an extra something out there: the goat rodeo sessions: chris Thiele, Stuart Duncan, Edgard Meyer and...Yo yo Ma. surprising, strong, wild yet beautiful. Love to see your take on these groups. Thanks for this and see you around.
I recommend listening to Creve Coeur by Hobo Johnson on Tiny Desk. Dramatic and emotional experience. Some consider it just talking and yelling but again it’s just so human.
*Here we go again with my little request 😊 Sivert Høyem with Prisoner Of The Road Norwegian refugee council version is shockingly good and very relevant again in todays times. Lots of love!*
The two that you HAVE to check out are Mac Miller & Thundercats and tech n9ne & krizz kalikos. If I were to pick a single from each concert I’d have to go with 2009 from Macs and fragile from techs.
Hi Elizabeth, AP is the "bees knees", but Leon Bridges is brioche french toast with Maine maple syrup. Please, please listen to the "River" or "Beyond"--any of his live performances. He is such a breath of fresh air and his voice will take you to a cool new place.
Request that definitely will give you something to bite into: Project Aegis - And the rest is mystery. A lot of great artists, but Daniel Heiman in particular. His range is out of this world! Would be awesome to hear your analysis.
It’s a trip watching you react, cause of your musicianship & skill set, you pick up on so much & the music radar is like stimulated goin bonkers! 😅 You might be the 1st I heard mention Andy’s subtle (& intentional) pronunciations in spots, & ‘rhythmic integrity’, so important. Lots of folks comment on his distinct tone quality, but that’s kind of obvious & he wouldn’t be the 1st. Even Jermaine Jackson had a similar tone when he was like 13. One point though, the word he was twisting a bit was ‘all’, not ‘on’. I’ve heard it quite a bit from Andy on the Silk Sonic records like, Smokin Out the Window, where he says, ‘One thing’s for ‘sho’ (2 X), instead of sure; also Love’s Train: ‘….a when it ring-a-lang, it only mean one Thang’. 😆 That type of pronunciation could be heard in o.g. Soul r&b singers like, Bobby Womack, Teddy Pendergrass, & Mavis Staples to name a few. I know it’s very much associated with southern dialect. The ‘ugh’ he does in the space, classic James Brown, which is where Michael Jackson also got that from. That example comes in handy when trying to convey the importance of felling the space, to make it funky. Ain’t no space? Won’t be no funk. That said, I’m sure Anderson beat boxes, being an amazing drummer & such a charismatic rapper as well. Great reaction, even though you cut before Andy’s comment after that song…’tiny desk, big heart’. 😁👍
Check out his songs "Come Down" or "The Waters" I find it very interesting how percussive and rythmic his voice is in these songs and I'd love to watch you interpret it. Especially "Come Down". What a great song
Dickie Allen of Infant Annihilator is just on another level of vocalism, Blasphemian is a good track to check out. Alex Teyen of Black Tongue and the piece Parting Soliloquy is awesome.
Very different wavelength to this, but definitely oozing character, is Jeff Buckley for the most beautiful and emotional voice I've ever heard. Either the performance of Mojo Pin (Glastonberry 95), or Grace (BBC Late Show).
Idk if these go thru, but the song “Try Losing One” by Tyler Braden is a really interesting song (I think) and has a lot of emotion packed into it if you feel like reacting to that one. I really do love the channel, thank you
I never comment, but I love your channel and how you are so open to listen to any type of music. Maybe you don't speak spanish (or maybe you do), but I would love to see your reaction and knowledge regarding C Tangana's Tiny Desk. I know maybe you won't see this comment since this reaction is 2 months old, but maybe you will so I just wanted to comment in case you think it's a good recommendation. Thanks! Love your channel
I would really love an analysis of the singer LiSA and the songs gurenge, homura and catch the moment, the first take versions it's only piano and her voice. I think you might also enjoy analyzing it, she is really skilled
I'd love to see you do an analysis of Thundercat's Tiny Desk performance. It probably fit perfectly in your series since he used to be a heavy metal bassist and moved into a bit of a different direction. His falsetto is very distinctive and I am really curious how he pulls it off.
If we're talking about singers who also drum, Hail the Sun's vocalist does this too! I got to see them live and it was incredible. Recommend "Relax/Divide" by them!!
Sohyang has a stack of amazing you have to experience yet, fwiw. Not sure you even got into some of the head voice magic yet. Long amazing phrasing that is just different than others. Home and Breathe from masked singer are two of them. Dream is amazing too. It's just ridiculous actually what she has out there. I'm sure the temptation to stop after doing a few is there but trust me... it will make you smile and probably cry. Over and over, like who else does that on this many performances. Misty from begin again korea is so stunning too. There's just so many.
First time at a live premiere of yours. I wonder if you saw the new Rammstein - Zeit track+ video. Might be interesting. Thanks for the great content. 😊
Just discovered your channel in the last few days.Love what you are doing.I have watched quite a few of your rock and metal reviews . The blues is where it all originated from.I would love to see you do an analysis and review on this..Muddy Waters - Mannish Boy (Audio).......Keep up what you are doing Elizabeth you are really good at it....Another suggestion would be ACDC with Bon Scott.
Elizabeth, you do a great job. Thank you. You’ve already reviewed Corey Taylor but I have an idea that could be refreshing (not that your channel needs refreshing but hear me out), different and fun. Corey (who I Believe is underrated as a hard rock/metal singer) is the lead singer of two very different bands, Slipknot and Stone Sour. I think it would be interesting to get your reaction of his different singing (and styles) in both bands and share your thoughts with us! I would suggest Nero Forte from Slipknot and Song #3 from Stone Sour. Thanks Elizabeth. Cheers.
Vulfpeck "Backpocket" and "Christmas in L.A" from madison square garden o nthe off chance you havent heard it, in fact just watch the whole darn concert ^^
You gotta check out his version of Blackbird (Beatles) and Hold the line (toto) amazing versions. He takes those songs , strips them down and adds his essence while holding the song true to its being. A Really amazing artist!
Hey now. If you are gonna listen to and include performances from the Tiny Desk Series, then you must must MUST cover Chris and Morgan Stapleton's 3 song set. There is no purer recording of them anywhere. It is genuine raw brilliance, and I'd love to here your take on how it is they do what they do together so well.
Oh my goodness the Tiny Desk is amazing! Day 3 of recommending Yebba: Tiny Desk (Home) Concert (19:06 minutes of a beautiful blend of genuine emotion and soulful groove, I would be remiss not to share it with you) hope everything’s going well with Kirk!
We just released merchandise! Check out the full line-up here: thecharismaticmerch.com
please can't not comment on any song by Jeff Buckley ... his angelic and desperate voice ....
Will you ever do Deftones?
And the audio engineers on the Tiny Desk Series consistently do an absolutely killer job.
This. 100%. Always blown away.
Yes! Love that others notice this too
agreed
Absolutely
Their performance of Heart Don't Stand a Chance is my favorite of this tiny desk concert.
I can never decide between that one or Suede because you can just tell how much fun they're having playing around with it.
The entire tiny dest concert is not to be missed if you like music.
the whole vid is just so fun and groovy. one of my favorite tiny desks for sure. I also love masego's
Anderson has impressed me for years. love his stuff... Favorite part of super bowl was seeing him unannounced but yet on stage playing the drums with Dre
Anderson .Paak is such a phenomenal artist. So glad I found him a few years back.
This was a pleasant surprise! Would love to see more Anderson Paak! Tiny desk or not! And just more tiny desk in general!
Hands down the best tiny desk session, so glad you got to experience it!
This one and Mac Miller tiny desk, classics
Been waiting for this. But you need to listen to this whole tiny desk concert. heart don’t stand a chance is incredible
Love Anderson .Paak! Thanks for the awesome video! I would definitely watch more funk/jazz/r&b analysis videos
Anderson is just so effortlessly cool. I'm so happy that Silk Sonic introduced me to him, because every time I watch him, I have a constant stank face.
Also, one of my favorite musical phrases is "Once is an error, twice is jazz." haha
I love this tiny desk performance. I’ve probably watched it 50 times now at least.
💙💙💙💙💙… Same!!!!🔥🔥🔥
I often come to this channel espeically when I am stressed out. The way she laughs, sharesher thoughts are very jolly yet insightful.
Thank you for great clips.
Anderson.Paak is AMAZING!!
I love the Tiny Desk series, great idea to use them!
This video cracked me up, it was a smile feedback loop the whole time.
Smooth groove to begin the day. Just perfect.
Don't forget Smooth groovin Elizabeth...
You're so right. Paak is smooth, clean and groovy personified. That smile....❤🔥👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Everyone in this band is amazing.
I love the way you giggle when you enjoy music😄
Its like the joy bubbling inside of you finds its way out.
You’ve gotta watch Tyler the creators tint desk. The best one in my opinion
@@noname772fp2 Thanks, I'll check it out this week.
I've just watched a few videos of this nice ladies channel and I love it soo much! The way she smiles and loves the music is the absolute best "reaction" UA-cam I've come across, she so much fun.
I'm so happy that you did this video because aside from Metal music which is my favorite genre since ever, the whole Anderson Paak / Thundercat / Kamasi Washington / Jon Baptiste / etc... new wave of modern jazz (I really don't know where else to classify them) is my absolute jam right now
I saw Anderson Paak live twice and he has soooo much great energy! Could you do Esperanza Spalding? She's amazing 😍
Indeed
Yes lovely to see and hear someone so rhythmically and musically so gifted his drumming his singing his personality this is genius from street level to stratosphere
The Grubhub Sound Bites of Anderson .Paak with the Free Nationals from Feb. 2021 are also fantastic.
Happy to see that smile today
I'm so excited 4 this!! 🔥☺️
Although I did not listen to them in the 80's, "The Outfield" has several songs that have become earworms for me lately. Strange how we get hooked on unique sounding songs.
80’s music was so light and joyful
Love it, a new band for me to folllow, thanx Elizabeth
You gotta do the rest of this tiny desk concert 🙏 lol it’s so good ☺️ especially the song Suede 🔥
Love him !!! listen to other ones he does on tiny desk ❤
This man looks like the picture definition of a "smooth criminal" - at least in my head.
He's big chillin'! :D
If you're going to look at more Tiny Desk Concerts, I heartily recommend Mac Miller's. That one is a gem.
The Tiny Desk series is amazing. Lots of gems from so many great artists, I hope you react to more! Pretty much the MTV Unplugged of today's era.
This is really cool I've not heard this ill check out the rest ...
Love your reactions-so interesting. Thanks!
Wait, popular music that is actually cool? What a time, what a time
Enjoyed this reaction! One that I'm always surprised never gets reacted to is "Song to the Siren" by This Mortal Coil (official version, not live as the guitar drowns her voice). Her voice is hauntingly beautiful.
My Good God Elizabeth! Thank you for opening my ears to Anderson Paak!

Would be curious about a jazz impro by our Charismatic Elizajazzbeth... 🎶🎹
Just discovered your SOAD video and look at your page to see you’ve done literally one of my favorite artists lol take my subscription 🤙🏻
I mean, there isn't much better of a first choice IMO. This is how I first learned about PAAK and it was just insane to me.
he was featured on Dr Dres album many years ago and he was one of the best parts, he is featured in many things but his best is on his albums venice and malibu
Yes, The Cranberries one is awesome and so is Natalie Merchant!
Suggesting either the Mac Miller (feat. Thundercat! what a gem!) or Harry Styles tiny desks. Both are absolutely wonderful, in completely unique ways.
The Mac Miller set makes me so happy/sad every time. BRB gonna go watch it right now.
Great suggestion. Gonna recommend it to.
This is my all time favourite Tiny Desk along with Mac Miller's. So excited!
I really like how we can feel the passion you have for your job😊. I think that, Forgive me - the Plot in You, can be à good song to analyse. Don't stop your very good work!😁

would absolutely second checking out this tinydesk, Mac Miller is amazing
Third supporter of the Mac tiny desk. Also Shaggy and Sting have a tiny desk that’s incredible.
I think it would be fun for you to watch the Haitus Kaiyote tiny desk concert - they are an incredible band and Nai Palm’s voice is just a.m.a.z.i.n.g 😍
Thanks for your videos ❤️
You have to hear T-Pain's lovely Tiny Desk performance of "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')"
Good stuff.
Fun Fact: Andy was taught how to drum in church. His drumming is so tight!! ❤
Wow, thanx for another ear opener I didn't know, this song is really groovy and your review points out many nice details. Stick to your surprises of song picks, that's what i am here for :o)
There are 2 Paaks that should be kept in the vault
Loved the video, I always enjoy your perspective! A good song to react to would be either Not Today or Slave the Prey by Sevendust. Can’t wait for the next episode!
Great to see you get into the tiny desk series. I would love to see you react to two amazing groups: first is i'm with her. Sarah Jarozs, Sara Watkins and Aoife O'donovan sound amazing together; The second is the wailin' jennys. Love to see your take on these groups. Thanks for this and see you around.
I recommend listening to Creve Coeur by Hobo Johnson on Tiny Desk. Dramatic and emotional experience. Some consider it just talking and yelling but again it’s just so human.
Omg I have to listen to this set almost monthly. It’s brilliant.
Anderson does vocals on Kush Modi's track "Freight Train" (I think he might have produced the whole album). It's worth checking out
i would pay money to see him cover ray charles
*Here we go again with my little request 😊 Sivert Høyem with Prisoner Of The Road Norwegian refugee council version is shockingly good and very relevant again in todays times. Lots of love!*
The two that you HAVE to check out are Mac Miller & Thundercats and tech n9ne & krizz kalikos. If I were to pick a single from each concert I’d have to go with 2009 from Macs and fragile from techs.
Bro It woulda been so crazy to see mac perform song from circles on tiny desk 😪
Please oh please do Mac miller's tiny desk. He isn't known for being an amazing singer but his emotions are right there in the open! Give it a go
whats the use is absolutely incredible, rip
Hi Elizabeth, AP is the "bees knees", but Leon Bridges is brioche french toast with Maine maple syrup. Please, please listen to the "River" or "Beyond"--any of his live performances. He is such a breath of fresh air and his voice will take you to a cool new place.
Request that definitely will give you something to bite into: Project Aegis - And the rest is mystery.
A lot of great artists, but Daniel Heiman in particular. His range is out of this world! Would be awesome to hear your analysis.
At 7:40, he was saying “ I fancy throwing it ALL away.. not “ON”
Definitely one of the best Tiny Desks out there! I highly recommend the ones that Stella Donnely and Lianne La Havas did.
♥️ Lianne LaHavas ♥️
Yess!! Lianne and Stella rock!!! ❤️❤️😎😎
Anderson paak is horribly underrated.
Love Anderson
It’s a trip watching you react, cause of your musicianship & skill set, you pick up on so much & the music radar is like stimulated goin bonkers! 😅 You might be the 1st I heard mention Andy’s subtle (& intentional) pronunciations in spots, & ‘rhythmic integrity’, so important. I would really love an analysis of the singer LiSA and the songs gurenge, homura and catch the moment, the first take versions it's only piano and her voice. I think you might also enjoy analyzing it, she is really skilled

Definately my favorite tiny desk performance. Should react to Skate by Silk Sonic :D
I would love to see your analysis of Erikah Badu
Not even my favorite track from that Tiny Desk performance of Anderson's... incredible!
If we're talking about singers who also drum, Hail the Sun's vocalist does this too! I got to see them live and it was incredible. Recommend "Relax/Divide" by them!!

Corey Taylor is overrated af
Vulfpeck "Backpocket" and "Christmas in L.A" from madison square garden o nthe off chance you havent heard it, in fact just watch the whole darn concert ^^
Fucking love vulfpeck, 1612 is a banger
If you try it, the smile effects pitch. If he wasn't smiling he'd be flat. Brightness causes brightness 🔆
A wide mouth shape, lifts the larynx.
You gotta check out his version of Blackbird (Beatles) and Hold the line (toto) amazing versions. He takes those songs , strips them down and adds his essence while holding the song true to its being. A Really amazing artist!
If you’re interested in more Tiny Desk, I’d definitely recommend T-Pain, weirdly… Turns out the guy can actually sing!
Another great tiny desk is The Roots w/ Bilal. Bilal's voice is so good.
Oh nice, tiny desk! Protomartyr's session is definitely worth checking out
she's adorable.

God I just absolutely love him.
He’s like James Brown and Q-tip had a baby.
