Same. I didn't even know I was a perfectionist until somebody pointed it out to me
I've spent my life sabotaging my career, my education, my standard of living. I know I do it and don't know why! I see a pattern but not until afterwards. I feel my potential is abundant but my self sabotage hides it. I have excuse after excuse to the point of hopelesness.
I also give myself excuses a lot

My self-sabotaging comes in the form of substance abuse and promiscuity when I begin to reach my goals. It has taken me a lifetime to realize I don't feel deserving because of all the lousy, hurtful things I have done to other people, most of which are dead by now. It makes no sense but I can't seem to stop this thinking/behavior. It feels as if it has taken on a life of its own.
I'm sorry! You should se e a psychologist to help you out of that cicle.
If you have asked God to forgive you, BELIEVE you are FORGIVEN. I pray that the feelings of regret and all the other negative thoughts have been lifted from you.

I always thought I was less than anyone, the very bottom. This ends now. I am a NEW CREATION and my LORD IS JESUS CHRIST. The old patterns only have power if I give them power. I am not a slave to any old thought patterns or substance. I am a slave only to Jesus and I am called to success, peace and love in Jesus. It's true. I was always worried about trying to fit in but we live in a narcissistic society and we'll never fit in. Screw it! Better be myself. I've been alienated by my relatives first because I wasn't good enough for them and they trained me to self loathe. And we always surrender to peer pressure. This words made me change my perspective...

Wow . I now understand that perfectionism is the root of SELF - sabotage ! There's a human never able to be "perfect" so we perfectly make us unable ..to do anything "imperfect" at all . Called us all out. this was loud right ?! ©👑🕊️
ALSO: that's why i stopped sleeping . started 'sleeping' on gifts i thought not worthy enough to give , attention 24/7 to, since i'm not as perfect as i want me to be. i'm too discouraged to be completely awake/ aware to acknowlage what i already have as Human .in a way of i only work half - hearted for my work . Damaging anything that looks like a Way for putting my imperfect Self out .
I just listening to this summer, and I just want to thank you so much for it... It gave me clarity and understanding of myself, that led me to a greater understanding of why my life has been so backward confusing. God bless to you

Sorry, but i dont really find any ways mentioned to stop self sabotage.. The man, however, did great job on addressing types of self sabotaging.
