I have two full-Italian friends (separate families) who are northern Italian and very naturally blonde and Nordic-looking, but the new Jagger doesn't have that southern Italian look.
I have to admit I was definitely looking for a dark haired-olive complexion recast for the role of Jagger. I enjoyed the shock factor but as I personally who remember watching the Jagger/Karen Wexler era I was disappointed. I’m going to give him a chance and it’ll be interesting to see who he has chemistry with. It can’t be Anna, and not sure if that’sJordan’s cup of tea. Thanks for making this a topic !!!! ❤
My sentiments exactly. Don't like that they didn't stay true to the character's look, but I'll give him a chance. Yes, Jagger is Anna's daughter's childhood friend...that would be gross. Could be Jordan, Maxie, Ava _(though, I'm guessing her and Nicholas will get back together eventually),_ Lois, or Nina if her and Sonny divorce.
I've been watching GH since 1977. I was a bit surprised to see the actor they hired to play Jagger, however, I like that they are bringing him back. To me, I just hope he's good and charismatic. I'm definitely giving the guy a chance to see what he does with the character. I'm excited!!!

I grew to accept Billy Warlock because he was a great actor but their completely different look made it difficult at first. And Billy and Sean are both Caucasians lol.
This speaks to the racism that still exist in Hollywood today…Where they cast blonde hair blue eyes 👀 actors and actresses in roles that were previously portrayed by darker skin, black hair ,brown eyes actors and actresses …
Bring Julian Jerome back. GH worst mistake. Ava needs her brother and William deVry is top notch in the role. He and Alexis had the most complex adult storyline of all times and it brought out the absolute best in the great Nancy Graham. No investment in Jag. Only if original actor played the role and even then they storyline finished. ThevJerome crime family needs to be revised along with the fabulous Tanya Walker the brilliantly insane Olivia Jerome. Now these characters pcharacters characters played the fan fav actors will give the one and only Ms. Marura Wrest great story to play against. Garunteed ratings will rise high.
I am a black woman and l love the new blond handsome John Jagger cates! Hope he is paired with the beautiful dark haired Anna or Jordan or even carly. I didn't watch when Antonio was on he's handsome but some blacks are hinting he said something untowards black people and some don't like his political views and l know nothing about these accusations. Antonio is Italian not Hispanic but just like one life to live recast a beautiful Asian blair as a caucasian woman and fans accepted her. I gotta say I am somewhat disappointed with the Jagger Cates replacement. There's nobody with half a brain who's been watching GH for a long time that says to him/herself "ah yes. that is definitely the older brother of Stone Cates" I'm all for the willful suspension of disbelief, but this is just bull. Okay even if GH/ABC didn't want anything to do with Antonio Sabato Jr, are you seriously telling me that the casting department couldn't find one single actor to match the character's physicality? It seems like really lazy casting to me, especially for an already established character. There are some viewers who actually remember who Jagger is and what he's supposed to look/be like. This ain't it. When he first appeared on screen, I kept thinking it was a new character until the others started name dropping and all I could think was "why do they keep referring to him as someone he so obviously isn't?" To be clear, this is not me dunking on the actor. I'm sure he'll do the best job he can with what he's given. I just think he could've been better utilized . GH could've used the gentleman as a recast for Jax maybe, or a new character, which would've at least made some kind of sense. This just seems out in left field to me.

I believe if you stay with the same race, it’s easier to recast and make it believable. Ie, Taggert, Trina, Spencer recast! I am apart of a generation of fans that remembers Jagger as Antonio Saboto Jr. it can be a bit of a shock to see this blonde blue eyed guy! However, I believe the recast can work due to the fact that the character has been gone so long and the younger generation of fans aren’t familiar with the previous actor!

By the way, the new actor - his hair color is GREY - took me a few heartbeats to see that - but he is blue-eyed. The old Jagger was dark and moody. This guy seems a whole lot happier with life. It will be interesting if GH writers start having him emphasize that fact as he reconnects with the cast members from the past. Hey, I am just glad for a new storyline that does not have the word NINA anywhere near it.

This recast was totally off the mark and unnecessary. The actor is nowhere near as handsome as Antonio first of all. Next up race swapping a character at a very racially polarized time in America like now is ratings suicide. Since all the BLM riots and shootings everyone in this nation is walking on eggshells about race and ethnicity. Finally there is no need for Jagger to return to the canvas now. Everyone that he had story with back in the day is gone. He is not necessary for the story. Once again Frank Valentini drops the ball at GH. I would like to see him replaced- hopefully with Wendy Riche.
