- In this episode of Digging for Britain, archaeologists explore remarkable new discoveries across Britain. In Orkney, they uncover an altar at the Ness of Brodgar, hinting that it may have been used for rituals as an ancient cathedral. Archeologists also uncover a well-preserved Roman fort, a fully intact viking burial and a 15th century feasting hall.

One of the best museums in the world - and my favorite place to visit in Edinburgh - The National Museum of Scotland. And my grandbabies (6 and 4) are growing up there. They know that museum top to bottom and confidently set out for their favorite spots. So much for curious children to see, touch, explore. Thanks for posting this - fascinating.
oh that was a marvellous wonderful little trip thousands of years away from our boring routine 21 century. I love this kind of rescuing and sharing with the fans so generously - I am looking forward to seeing you two and the teams again in future, greetings Crissy
The fact that tony was using his trowel to scrape the top of that stonework made me shiver when he could have used a brush,he was scraping and marking that original surface.
I have had the privilege of going to the Orkney islands and loved the ancient history and wildlife, I even had the experience of pulling a sheep out of a bog and had to scramble past nesting sea birds and got spat at with a yellow nasty smelling liquid trying to wash off the poo and pee as the sheep was just a visible head so had to get right into the bog to rescue this poor sheep and it went on its knees when i pulled it out and ate like mad, so glad i wandered about but kept well clear of nesting birds and even got attacked by a Bonxie. Grat skua. Enjoyed everything and the local people are fantastic 👌
Wonderful! Thanks.😊
Nice seeing Matt again! Sure enjoyed the Time team shows! Still get to see some I never got to see before! Enjoy this too!

It was all hust breton then
3000BC? Orkney Islands? Interesting time. Interesting place. Very interesting all round indeed!
I love the UK's very very intresting historic past, I read as much as I can about it and watch clips like these. I wish my home country had such an intresting past. 🏴
RACIST!!!!!

Every country has an interesting past
What country are you from?
Considering that Matt and Bridgette dug at Johnathans cave with Time Team why was he not allowed to talk about it? They dug at all the caves there.
27:32 poor horses 🐎🐴
Having seen many of the carved round stones i honestly think they're curved in mainly in the winter times and are decorative items showing the greatest designs that people could come up with, Not weapons in any way at all.
Hey, it’s Matt!
What feature made the archaeologists dig this site?
35:12 About the Pictish caves, I know this is awful to hear. However, it is slightly funny if you know Fife... a car somehow ending up inside a cave and then it getting set on fire is exactly the kind of mental stuff that happens all the time there (I don't live in Fife, but next to it and have lots of friends from there). In a way, it could be seen as evidence of how Fife might still retain some of their mad Pictish culture 😂
excellent updates. and i like how the words alice, and cist go together....sigh.
To Burry the hatchet comes to mind
the reason for the 2 fish on ring was because it was of the precession year of Pisces the 2 fish a 2150 year period, the next one is year of Aquarius. This is also why we see the sign 'Jesus Love you' in a symbol of a fish
Serious question. Was these really dug into the ground, or was it all above ground and over all the years dirt and erosion burried them.
The latter. Crazy right?
Could a protective wall not be built using brickwork and rapid-setting cement in the beach excavation?
why are you posting reruns?
What is the point of waxing lyrical about the Ness of Brogdar when those doing the digging are planning to shut the site down?
why are they shutting it down?
check out your star constellations both what today would be in and what this date would have been back then For burial sites
ANOTHER TEMPLE! ?
COME ON
Apologies; I was referring to Flixton.
Scotland's Stonehenge: Archeologists Discover 5,000-Year-Old Stone Age Temple 19.11.24 0904am and as for antiquated man - probably sacrificing anything that swam walked of flew... there's nothing noble about the past... and anything relating to amiable sedentary man seems to be left "undiscovered" goes up in flames or is best left unspoken/unacknowledged...
There were no trees that time?
if they really want 2 know why they left these places........
can you see any TREES ,,,,,,,
Tracks. Not “prints”. Prints are something entirely different!
Scottish history told by English people isn’t strange to you? Imagine Scottish folk explaining the history of the Kingdom of Sussex. It’s a joke.
Why do you feel this way? Archeological finds are discovered by people of all nations all over the world.
Just because they speak with English accents and live in England doesn't mean they don't have some Scottish in them.
Thier only 5 million Scottish people that hard to find out the pub mate
5 million Scott's
3 million wales
57 million english

It sounds like maybe evidence of a flood most of the animals didn’t make it to Noah’s ark only two of every kind and maybe 7 variations of that kind / along with dragon eggs or dinosaurs eggs / dinosaur terrible lizard/ mankind live longer everything was bigger even Adam might have been 90 feet
Are you high?
Archeology needs an upgrade. I love how you think them if if it’s challenged you get defensive. I think I’m going to side with Hancock on this channel and gtfo. So stupid some of the ideas thrown about like it’s actual knowledge

Scotland isnt brittish
Huh?
United Kingdom countries are British.
What is the disconnect?
What are you on about? 😂
Sure, they're just all related through DNA... I don't mean the newcomers that arrive on boats but everyone else pretty much has similar DNA. But oh yeah, they're not the same..
You: _"Northern Great Britain isn't British"._
You're completely off your rocker. Get help.
Ugghh the Female One!! She Never lets Matt Say Anything. It would Be Better Just Him!
I don’t remember Matt having a professorship or doing digging for Britain from series 1.
