ユカイアキラ Akira Yukai is a 15 year old boy who's been isolated all his life. His academic and physical skills are great, but when it comes to social life he doesn't have much to go off of. One day he enroll in Apex Academy, a school for developing powers called: Soul Shifts. There his journey begins.
I feel like the anti social trope happens waaayyyyy to often imo if you want to keep a character anti social that's cool but give them a trait that defines them from the rest I hope your story goes well and I hope you don't mind some of my thoughts😅
The idea of soul shifting is really cool, but as for the rest, This feels a bit cliche ngl. No disrespect,i wish you luck and if I may say something,I think it might help you to watch more indie classics or experimental films, anime and manga, more international cinema or novels. And as unique as they get, even something like a24 films could help you find other tropes and inspirations to create something more unique, cuz if you want to do storytelling, you have to consume as much storytelling as you can to understand it, watching both good and bad films gives you a prospective on what to do and what not to do, what works and what doesn't. I guess I'm a step ahead the other students considering I tend to give my characters some level of background and personality before making them. Even though I only have like 2 or 3 Ocs. Looking forward to the critique session next weekend.
I have a character called Eleanor Lundi, a captain of a sky pirate ship called the Wyvern Maiden. Her mother was a sky pirate who slew a dragon and drank its blood while she was pregnant, and as a result Eleanor has super strength. She wields a war hammer shaped like an anchor attached to a chain because, due to a lack of training and her super strength, she always snaps swords when she uses them. She’s strong willed and reckless, with natural leadership and an intimidating presence. She’s easily angered which means she walks into a lot of traps, but she always manages to brute force her way out of a sticky situation. She loves the colour pink and dresses as though she doesn’t feel the cold.
I would love to share the details about my character! My character's name is Lanme Kartel, 16 years old and currently studies under a sage's tutelage-- she plays the role of a main character in my story. She was blessed with a Shaman Bead of high density and a sandy nature of its earth element, thus her magic is Sand. Her family works under a transport company, however she has lower socialization skills because of her fairly withdrawn parents. After she was blessed, she uses it to make different-colored sands as merchandise to promote their transport company-- that's when she was offered to become the sage's student. She primarily dislikes people prying to her affairs, however lately she's been prying over her classmates' businesses. She can be a spiteful prankster, one who pulls a prank out of grudge. Aside from working on her Sand magic, Lanme passes time by reading books filled with jokes, puns, and comedic elements. Well, the story tone was supposed to be dark, but I unfortunately scrapped the first plan of killing off majority of the characters. I'm trying to find a path where it ends with a satisfying ending-- I got attached to all of the characters so it's hard to decide which ones should I kill off.
I find it interesting how alot of the talent in manga is just creating a detailed well-developed story and world for everything to live in. This will even affect your drawing ability; When I started drawing manga, I tried making up something without a story or background. I didn't know where to start or what to draw and my drawings didn't end up looking all that good since I didn't know the feel of the world and characters. Daydreaming is key.
#1 - Given that I tend to first come up with the character and their story, and then chose the design to reflect that, as well as their culture, or adjust is as the character's personality and story changes, i feel pretty good about that stage of it

Since I’m currently writing my own story, I guess I’m a bit ahead in this ball game. I only started learning to draw about a year ago, but these characters have filled my head for years upon years. Their personalities, backgrounds and concepts for their design are in my head, and the reasons for which are also there. I often keep notes throughout my day, making sure ideas that come to me aren’t lost by the time I hit the hay, and I’ve found it comfortable staying within this daily loop. It’s fun finding ideas that suit the story I’m trying to convey, whether it be clothing or something more personal like a face or hair. Within the context of my story, each body part needs to look a specific way for each individual, and the expansion of my knowledge of art has only expanded my understanding of how I can portray them to signify not only how I feel but the characters’ personalities and circumstances. Though their unique clothing designs are typically determined by plot, the more intimidate details are where I can really explore my characters, even if I’m not the most artistically savvy person around. It’s truly a testament to an author’s hard work when you can tell an isolated story of its own through the design of your character whether through writing or art.

Though I thought it might be something that can be effectively taught, before, I eventually came to the understanding that it’d be best to gather my thoughts daily on how I can improve my art and make it my own through time. I think it’s begun to work, thankfully, as I’ve been starting to make faces and such I’m a lot prouder of than before, and it fits into a comfortable space between cartoony and realism (at least my vision of how it’s developing is looking promising in that regard). I’m having trouble with voluntary expression and matching my faces and such with an equally expressive body. By voluntary expression, I mean that while I can draw expressions from time to time, they typically fall into place almost on accident. Ideas surrounding some of the main details I should focus on for forming my expressions and such haven’t fallen into place yet, and it’s seeming like it might be a hurdle I should overcome before switching my focus back to the body. I’ve been trying to make the differences between races and genders discernible as well. I’ve been having trouble matching appropriate noses with the style I’m developing, and that has aided my trouble with expressions. On a brighter note, I have been liking the faces that I have been able to make, the differences that I’ve just about set in stone, and the way I feel they might match with the story I’m trying to tell. I have vague ideas on how different body types might look in this new style, but it’s something I’d need to devote more time towards. Posing, depth, and scenes aren’t something I’ve dabbled in often, partly because I’m afraid to, but I know it wouldn’t benefit me to leave them alone for long if I want to improve. Besides all that, it’s coming along swimmingly.
My character is male 22 years old studying in third year of college who is an orphan and is ML in my story. He is kind and gentle don't like city life since he was raised in small town at a beautiful foothills by his country life and adventure loving mentor (sensei) who died when he was 19. He is a bit shy don't like to talk about his parents (who technically left him just after he was born) but likes to talk about his sensei who taught and made him fall in love with nature and photography .He is not totally a introvert neither extrovert but can't initiate a conversation with stranger but can lead a already started conversation very well and can express his thoughts after he is comfortable with someone. He is a good listener and understands situation and circumstances and pay attention to surrounding. I haven't decided his name yet please recommend me a name which suits his profile.
It may seem weird but I can't design OCs without knowing anything about their background or personality. While designing, 90% of the time I am just sitting and thinking and 10% of the time drawing. Like, even when I have figured out the general idea, I don't draw and revise until I like it as it exhausts me and demotivates me. I figure out a clear image of how my OC looks and then start drawing.
So uuuh i really don't know if you will see this or not but i will try anyways, this character is not the main character but a villian his name is iruka (iruaka-sensei💀) but jokes aside i have not thought of a last name because i want it to be very special, but a little into detail his eye color is yellow, hair color is either black,brown,or grey he is mostly chill because of the backstory he had witch has to do with his powers witch is called dimensional powers witch i will say a quick summary of what it does. Basically dimensional powers are powers that only few people have including the main character the other villian and the mastermind witch takes away the dimensional powers these powers mostly go around blocking one of your senses for example if you look at Iruka's eyes he can then activate his powers like genjutsu but the person gets teleported into your realm and i am too lazy to say the rest, but anyways he became the villian because he could not control his powers and everyone he looked at went into his dimension making them cover his eyes. He is a very fast character and his other additional power that is only givin to him with his unique dimensional powers (like domain expansions)is that he can move his eyes anwhere around his body but he must close one of his yes to move one of his eyes. I have a character I nicknamed Bookhead. I designed him to be the MC in this manga series I was planning on where he learns to a respected, standup guy from lessons he learns in dreams after a heart-wrenching breakup. In the beginning of the story he's just turned 17 and is going into his 3rd year of high school (US School system for a change lol.) He's a pushover type, being kind of in his own head, oblivious to the true intentions of others, and a naïve kid who's prone to being deceived. As a general rule he just wants to be nice to everyone that interacts with him and doesnt want to get hurt. That's generally how I characterize him in my head whenever I think of him. When I started on designing this character, I drew him with a book for a head (obviously. You saw the nickname I gave him). For two reasons: firstly, I was influenced by a piece of this album cover that I thought was cool, and second, I didnt feel like overly worrying about face proportions. I feel like this is a golden opportunity for symbolism, but I just can't quite put my finger on an in-character reason why he would have a book for a head. Maybe it represents the formation of a new part of his mindset where he learns to be more wary of people? Maybe it represents the most flawed part of his character as he goes through this journey and makes it immediately obvious who's not gonna judge him based on his looks? Maybe both? That's my one single fleshed-out OC that I have at the time of my first watching this video. Lemme know what y'all think.
Interesting character description. What kind of genre are you aiming for? Having a character with a book for a head sounds quite unique, but what kind of story is this going to be?
Thankfully I thought about my characters stories, personality and background before designing so I can incorporate all that to said design, my story is based off the Roman times and right now I’m doing a bit of research so I can make my story a little accurate while also adding my on spin on things
I have many OCs, my oldest one with had 15 of Development went through many major design changes such as the sharp triangle guideline shapes turning into square triangle shapes. I was to make a Manga, I would have him be the mentor of the protagonist, since I would find the protagonist to be more relatable to the target audience.
Honestly, I don't understand how some people can push out many OCs on a whim 😅 Because I need to have their personality and background information developed at least a bit in my mind before coming up with a finalized design I'm satisfied with, I usually stick to fanarts when I feel like drawing. I've been creating in my mind this one story I'd like to one day write as a webcomic or manga since 2017 and I still do not have finalized visuals for all the characters 😅 Some of them still have vague unfinished designs because their background informations don't fully satisfy me yet and I feel like I have yet to know them well enough to establish their looks.
My oc’s name is Kagawa Fuyuzarou Came up with a Japanese name cause why not? She is 17 years old She has an outward rude, proud, arrogant personality but an inward smile and kindness Mutated monsters exist there and they are the reason for her parents death. She protected her younger siblings while her nee-san (elder sister) tried to fend the monsters off They managed to survive and killed the monsters while little Kagawa was just 7 while her nee- san was 13. They all became swordsmen to avenge their parents deaths. I have multiple OCs but my favorite Manga is my unnamed one. She's 9, very bubbly and happy but has a sad backstory that affects her motivation in the story (probably blood type O).
I had a character for a story named Bogard Roberts...a typical student nerd who was always being bullied and fell for a girl who was being pursued by the bullies' leader as well. He was an introvert and always on his own. This girl he admires befriended him but the pressure of her female buddies and the gang of bullies forced her to make the biggest mistake of abandoning Bogard and being lovers with the gang's leader. This also is the what made Bogard become one of the most feared bad ass character in the story. Upon hearing that he was rejected and abandoned by he thought the only one who understands and accepts him..he changed his image, become a fighter who engages in street fights, underground fight clubs and even in the MMA fighting circuit. How he will find redemption, honor and how another woman will make him change his ways is the storyline. It is actually based on my own life and I know there are still plotholes I have to work on. Drawing, writing and creating manga is my therapy for my broken heart, self and a way of transforming that negative vibe into something creative that I hope others will relate. That's why I love your videos. It helps me rethink the way I make my own manga and improve on my flaws and make the ones I'm already good better. Thank you.

A character I just finished playing for over two years is the teifling glory paladin tristana Meadomoon. She's 32 and appears human at first until you see her purple horns that meld into her shaggy layered purple ombre hair. Her fair peachy skin and blue eyes give her appearance of a normal human from a distance. Her plain sliver scale mail breastplate and blues of her cloak and cloth tassel covers black skintight leggings and top however her turquoise great scythe is imposing and her boorch of her deity, thuellos, God of storms and nightmares is the known item to tell travelers that She's his chosen champion. She's very shy about public speaking and a great cook. Once of a prestigious family until her mother arranged for her to be burned. Luckily she was saved and grew up in an orphanage. She's a bit of a folk hero.
I have a Dungeons & Dragons character I've played that I can apply to a story in a separate universe. Clem Deepwell is a 24 year old halfling who is a private detective. She becomes one in the hopes that she'd discover her parent's whereabouts after they disappeared when she was around 11 years old. All she remembers was that loan sharks demanded her father give the money back to them after taking a loan. Since their disappearance, Clem had to live with her grandparents and move to a different city to avoid the loan sharks going after her. Accompanied by her therapist, Doctor Karla Ursel, Clem is often asked to solve mysteries and expose the culprits who've committed crimes, but she takes a special interest in missing persons cases. As mentioned before, Doctor Karla Ursel is often seen with Clem and would ground Clem when she sees or hears things that trigger her dissociation episodes. However, Clem mostly catches herself slipping into that state and grounds herself by tapping her temple three times. Otherwise, Clem is analytical, logical, and often serious with a talent for drawing realistic portraits, buildings, and objects. Her artistic abilities are mostly used on the job as opposed to a hobby. In terms of her appearance, she has dark brown, long, spiked hair; some of which is tucked underneath a brown hat that flops slightly to one side. She wears a white shirt with brown shorts that are held by bracers on her shoulders. Clem also wears a brown coat and brown, ankle high boots with laces.
My character name is Kenji Namikaze. He is 12 yers old and he have evil god Susanoo sealed within him. He live without parents he only lives with eldery man Itadori Sakonji in his shop but his city is afraid of him because they know about the seal. The god was sealed with his mother and father althought he was sealed by the life of his mother. So what do you think about Kenji?
*‼TL;DR: i'm just telling you how to make the story sound less like you're plagiarizing naruto.‼* names are different but mostly everything else is a carbon copy of naruto. the plot, of a god being sealed inside of him by his parents, and some guy in a shop caring for him. first, we need to know the setting. is it set in the past, present, or future? because this could change some things. second, do you intend to make this for children, teenagers, or adults? that could also change some things. i doubt this story is for children though. for a past setting for adults, i would suggest thinking of things to make the plot different. like for example, maybe the mother die of an epidemic, but before she did, she sealed susanoo inside him, as a way of preserving her life in him. the father kills himself directly after the mother dies. the only person who cared for kenji enough to adopt him as a baby would be itadori. maybe give itadori some form of backstory as to why he cares so much for kenji. maybe say, he lost his wife and kids when some warriors raided the village. the warriors abused his wife in front of him, and his kids tried running but were shot by arrows when they turned their back. if this sounds too dark, you can turn it down a few levels. for some things you didn't mention, maybe give kenji an older sister. a sister who carries amaterasu inside, or maybe an older sister figure. if you're going by japanese deities, amaterasu is the older sister of susanoo. if you're trying to go for a naruto-like story, maybe instead of making it a three-man squad, make it a four-man squad or five-man squad. maybe even no squad at all, and no missions. maybe even make it an adventure! make more female characters too. don't use the female characters for pure fanservice. since it seems like you're going for a fantasy, maybe instead of there being some powers, maybe make the powers only accessible to the people with gods sealed in them, or priests or whatever, kind of like inuyasha. of course, i can't tell you what your story should be, but i can tell you that you shouldn't steal ideas off of other mangakas. of course, inspiration is fine! all mangakas got their inspiration from somewhere. you just don't overuse the inspiration. then it becomes plagiarizing.
My ocs Raine and Aster are pretty important characters to each other’s stories. Raine is 15 when they first meet and is considered attractive by their peers. He has long flowing black hair, shining amber eyes, has the voice of an angel, tall, skinny, and basically what people wanted. Others naturally crowded around him because of his looks and he abhorred that with his whole self. He hated it because he felt it took away from his passion of music. The passion he had dedicated his whole life up to this point. Even if Raine felt this way, he still tried his best to please others. Raine treated them with kindness, excepted gifts, he did everything. On the other hand, Raine has been getting burned out with the fact that he’s getting no where with his music and the feeling gets worse until the day he meets Aster.
Hi mam, I recently found your channel, as I was looking for guidance to design my OC for a story. My OC doesn't have a name yet, but he is a police detective, hes 37 years old. He has had a rather painful past that led to the death of his wife and child and he blames himself for him. This led him to dive into the depths of nihilistic and pessimistic philosophy and now he see only the bad in the world. He is a person, who is a victim of self-hate. He just exists. He is a self governed person when it comes to desires and don't give into them. He also has a special interrogation method where he looks into the eyes of the suspects and can tell whether someone is lying or not!
as i watch the video i realise how little i know about my own character NAME: roku (extremely based off Goku and Vegeta) personality: stubborn, nonchalant Age: 23 He is a Sayain who lives on earth, he never had parents or anyone who had to take care of him, as a saiyan he knew how to survive and had the spirit of a saiyan, eventually he was found by Goku as Goku was hunting for food in the woods, slowly Goku started helping Roku, teaching him how to speak english, basically civilizing Roku, Goku also started training Roku how to properly fight, over the years roku started living on his own, focused on training and extreme threats to earth a long with fighting along side goku and the other Z fighters.

Jordan Achlyn, 15 years old (at the beginning). Moderate height, black hair in a japanese style (think like a more dense version of dr tenma's early hairstyle) influenced by his japanese best friend, Jasmine. He is american, living in a town 90 miles from chicago in 1994, his favorite band (at the time) being Green Day. He likes the thrill of boxing and is very passionate of rock music. His town is relatively small and he shares a car (no lisence) with his older cousin, Lance. When he was 9, his other best friend Josh went missing and was never found, causing him to be more closed off from others when it comes to his personal feelings. Throughout the 4 parts of the story (about 1-2 years each, more time between them) he goes through a lot of personal development as he grows up. There are also many more characters ive made over time relevant to the story, which shall be called "Supernova"
What I like to do to make a character is something I got from Araki. Take a song you like and make their personality feel like that song, and expand from there. I've made a lot of characters this way and it makes designing them MUCH easier and fun
For me man, I always think of my characters and put them in social situations in my head. Each main character of mine would always have a different reaction to a situation, and I always find that funny because that’s just who they are.

My manga is not one single story. It follows seven different stories with people experiencing different phases of the life and overcoming there internal conflicts. The twist in the story is that there is one character connected to all of these seven characters. He is good in the start and helps everyone overcome their nightmares. I have basic idea of the backstories and the experiences of all the characters but i am not able to clearly visualize them. It is always some rough image which I am never able to transfer to paper. Can you help me?

My oc's name is Shikazukuri or Shika he is 15 years old. He is happy and is mentaly very strong like he wouldn't give up and he's motivated. He loves adventures and if someone touches his friends he'd be very angry. He has something on hir eyes like gojo because of his illnes in his eyes he sees everything black and white and a professional doctor made it for to make him see better. He has no parents because they were killed while he was a baby. He's a little bit naive and sometimes dump. He is 180cm tall. His weight is 55kg. He loves to eat and his hobby is climbing. He lives in a forest near a kingdom. He lived with his grandpa till he was 6 and then his grandpa died. His parents were killed because his father had a dangerous ability and the villains wanted to lead the world. His father were loved by everyone and so people from the kingdom protected shika so he could escape. That was the most about shika

My character that I just made his name is Colton he is in highschool and he has a friend named Alex they are best friends. Colton. Has black hair with blue eyes his hair is fluffy and kinda spiky but not wild. He plays the electric guitar. He has been playing it for 5 years. He is pretty aloof and not very social. He is popular because of how handsome he is and because the boys respect him. He is very smart. Good at math and science and history. He likes ramen. And he loves all kinds of soups. He is secretly a assassin his family has been assassins for Japan for centuries he doesn’t like it but he doesn’t want to let his family down he doesn’t like getting close to people because he is afraid of losing them. He has a bad habit of cracking his knuckles he rides his bike to school. He is ripped from training. He likes being alone. He loves photography. He wishes he could be a photographer. He is pretty kind like if someone is about to be hurt or killed he will save them. And when his classmates need help he is normally there to help. Everyone respects him but are afraid of him too because he is so aloof. And because he shows up to school with bruises and cuts. His best friend Alex is a secret spy he gets information on the targets for Colton so he can kill them. They work together. Colton has a girl he likes later her name is maya she is a very sweet girl she loves to cook and do yoga. She walks to school. She is Colton’s love interest Colton is the main character but all three of them are also the main character the villain later is also Colton. As he tries to navigate right and wrong. Maya used to be just a fan girl of his and he ignored her like he did everyone else but one day she was about to get rapped. He jumped in and saved her. After that he thought about her a lot. And thought she was kinda cute. She liked him as a person now instead of a idol and they became friends. And then he confessed his feelings for her pretty awkwardly. And she excepted, and they started dating. And they are super In love. Colton is very comforted by maya. She is kind and smart but not athletic at all. She loves bathes. And she has a cat. She has a brother that is away studying abroad she is just a normal girl. But she later finds out about his secret. Hope this wasn’t boring also Colton is 5,9 Alex is 6, foot and maya is 5’3

She's just a fragile scared petite girl who just wants to finish her Academic years,get a job and leave the house to let alone die. She's socially awkward between her classmates or strangers,they would think she's a wierd otaku even though she's not. She's talentless,she wants to do something that can make someone proud but wouldn't. That's when she stumbled upon Riku Tomoya, A 17 year old boy who seems like a normal teenager at first but isn't. Riku has many secrets and fears under his sleeves. he may look like a mature boy but deep inside he's empty, Alone. His secrets are stalking Tomo. But why would he stalk a normal weird girl? What's the catch?. Riku who suffered from depression,lived alone. He met her from afar, that's where he realised. The two of them are suffering together, He thought if he befriend Tomo, everything will be okay but... Little did he know he doesn't know how to socialise,he just fears of getting rejected. Mine is Kiseki Kushitada a human who lives in a world were multiple other entities exist I thought about the abilities and powers and the age of my character and I decided to make him 19 and as there is more population there was more demand and so resources were much more expensive and so he doesn't were much but a coat and with a neck warmer on and blue pant with some gloves on he is a magician not like magical stuff but more like who does tricks and entertain having more of a silly and crashes out other the smallest things the power system is of hakai and energy that only when person has a sense of omnipotents and all power in their hands or of determination
He also was raised by a mother who told him not to do stupid things like drinking smoking because of his mother's beliefs it's giving up on life and Kiseki seems to agree since in the city where they live multiple people in the streets how are homeless with no education have given up on life and start drinking and smoking but it is even worse of a disaster since some of the creatures are larger and some stronger and faster so human race is one of the weakest races but some people mastered Hakai and nigh omnipotent ability witch can harm anything or work on anything. Even an omnipotent but also the ability of the user is nigh omnipotent not the user so that can also be effected from something they always were
Lol I must be from a very weird rabbithole, because most of people I know would rather go into 20-volume overcomplicated backstories and overdesign a world before drawing a throwaway NPC while creating characters.

The idea of soul shifting is really cool, but as for the rest, This feels a bit cliche ngl. No disrespect,i wish you luck and if I may say something,I think it might help you to watch more indie classics or experimental films, anime and manga, more international cinema or novels. And as unique as they get, even something like a24 films could help you find other tropes and inspirations to create something more unique, cuz if you want to do storytelling, you have to consume as much storytelling as you can to understand it, watching both good and bad films gives you a prospective on what to do and what not to do, what works and what doesn't. I guess I'm a step ahead the other students considering I tend to give my characters some level of background and personality before making them. Even though I only have like 2 or 3 Ocs. Looking forward to the critique session next weekend.

I have a character called Eleanor Lundi, a captain of a sky pirate ship called the Wyvern Maiden. Her mother was a sky pirate who slew a dragon and drank its blood while she was pregnant, and as a result Eleanor has super strength. She wields a war hammer shaped like an anchor attached to a chain because, due to a lack of training and her super strength, she always snaps swords when she uses them. She’s strong willed and reckless, with natural leadership and an intimidating presence. She’s easily angered which means she walks into a lot of traps, but she always manages to brute force her way out of a sticky situation. She loves the colour pink and dresses as though she doesn’t feel the cold.

My character's name is Lanme Kartel, 16 years old and currently studies under a sage's tutelage-- she plays the role of a main character in my story.
She was blessed with a Shaman Bead of high density and a sandy nature of its earth element, thus her magic is Sand.
Her family works under a transport company, however she has lower socialization skills because of her fairly withdrawn parents.
After she was blessed, she uses it to make different-colored sands as merchandise to promote their transport company-- that's when she was offered to become the sage's student.
She primarily dislikes people prying to her affairs, however lately she's been prying over her classmates' businesses. She can be a spiteful prankster, one who pulls a prank out of grudge. Aside from working on her Sand magic, Lanme passes time by reading books filled with jokes, puns, and comedic elements.
Well, the story tone was supposed to be dark, but I unfortunately scrapped the first plan of killing off majority of the characters. I'm trying to find a path where it ends with a satisfying ending-- I got attached to all of the characters so it's hard to decide which ones should I kill off.
I find it interesting how alot of the talent in manga is just creating a detailed well-developed story and world for everything to live in. This will even affect your drawing ability; When I started drawing manga, I tried making up something without a story or background. I didn't know where to start or what to draw and my drawings didn't end up looking all that good since I didn't know the feel of the world and characters. Daydreaming is key.

#1 - Given that I tend to first come up with the character and their story, and then chose the design to reflect that, as well as their culture, or adjust is as the character's personality and story changes, i feel pretty good about that stage of it

Since I’m currently writing my own story, I guess I’m a bit ahead in this ball game. I only started learning to draw about a year ago, but these characters have filled my head for years upon years. Their personalities, backgrounds and concepts for their design are in my head, and the reasons for which are also there. I often keep notes throughout my day, making sure ideas that come to me aren’t lost by the time I hit the hay, and I’ve found it comfortable staying within this daily loop. It’s fun finding ideas that suit the story I’m trying to convey, whether it be clothing or something more personal like a face or hair. Within the context of my story, each body part needs to look a specific way for each individual, and the expansion of my knowledge of art has only expanded my understanding of how I can portray them to signify not only how I feel but the characters’ personalities and circumstances. Though their unique clothing designs are typically determined by plot, the more intimidate details are where I can really explore my characters, even if I’m not the most artistically savvy person around. It’s truly a testament to an author’s hard work when you can tell an isolated story of its own through the design of your character whether through writing or art.

@@aphlearntodrawmanga I’m working on developing a style. Though I thought it might be something that can be effectively taught, before, I eventually came to the understanding that it’d be best to gather my thoughts daily on how I can improve my art and make it my own through time. I think it’s begun to work, thankfully, as I’ve been starting to make faces and such I’m a lot prouder of than before, and it fits into a comfortable space between cartoony and realism (at least my vision of how it’s developing is looking promising in that regard). I’m having trouble with voluntary expression and matching my faces and such with an equally expressive body. By voluntary expression, I mean that while I can draw expressions from time to time, they typically fall into place almost on accident. Ideas surrounding some of the main details I should focus on for forming my expressions and such haven’t fallen into place yet, and it’s seeming like it might be a hurdle I should overcome before switching my focus back to the body. I’ve been trying to make the differences between races and genders discernible as well. I’ve been having trouble matching appropriate noses with the style I’m developing, and that has aided my trouble with expressions. On a brighter note, I have been liking the faces that I have been able to make, the differences that I’ve just about set in stone, and the way I feel they might match with the story I’m trying to tell. I have vague ideas on how different body types might look in this new style, but it’s something I’d need to devote more time towards. Posing, depth, and scenes aren’t something I’ve dabbled in often, partly because I’m afraid to, but I know it wouldn’t benefit me to leave them alone for long if I want to improve. Besides all that, it’s coming along swimmingly.
My character is male 22 years old studying in third year of college who is an orphan and is ML in my story. He is kind and gentle don't like city life since he was raised in small town at a beautiful foothills by his country life and adventure loving mentor (sensei) who died when he was 19.
He is a bit shy don't like to talk about his parents (who technically left him just after he was born) but likes to talk about his sensei who taught and made him fall in love with nature and photography .He is not totally a introvert neither extrovert but can't initiate a conversation with stranger but can lead a already started conversation very well and can express his thoughts after he is comfortable with someone.
He is a good listener and understands situation and circumstances and pay attention to surrounding.
I haven't decided his name yet please recommend me a name which suits his profile.
It may seem weird but I can't design OCs without knowing anything about their background or personality. While designing, 90% of the time I am just sitting and thinking and 10% of the time drawing. Like, even when I have figured out the general idea, I don't draw and revise until I like it as it exhausts me and demotivates me. I figure out a clear image of how my OC looks and then start drawing.

So uuuh i really don't know if you will see this or not but i will try anyways, this character is not the main character but a villian his name is iruka (iruaka-sensei💀) but jokes aside i have not thought of a last name because i want it to be very special, but a little into detail his eye color is yellow, hair color is either black,brown,or grey he is mostly chill because of the backstory he had witch has to do with his powers witch is called dimensional powers witch i will say a quick summary of what it does. Basically dimensional powers are powers that only few people have including the main character the other villian and the mastermind witch takes away the dimensional powers these powers mostly go around blocking one of your senses for example if you look at Iruka's eyes he can then activate his powers like genjutsu but the person gets teleported into your realm and i am too lazy to say the rest, but anyways he became the villian because he could not control his powers and everyone he looked at went into his dimension making them cover his eyes. He is a very fast character and his other additional power that is only givin to him with his unique dimensional powers (like domain expansions)is that he can move his eyes anwhere around his body but he must close one of his yes to move one of his eyes. That is it for the character as i said i really hope you see this i need help :

I have a character I nicknamed Bookhead. I designed him to be the MC in this manga series I was planning on where he learns to a respected, standup guy from lessons he learns in dreams after a heart-wrenching breakup.
In the beginning of the story he's just turned 17 and is going into his 3rd year of high school (US School system for a change lol.) He's a pushover type, being kind of in his own head, oblivious to the true intentions of others, and a naïve kid who's prone to being deceived. As a general rule he just wants to be nice to everyone that interacts with him and doesnt want to get hurt. That's generally how I characterize him in my head whenever I think of him.
When I started on designing this character, I drew him with a book for a head (obviously. You saw the nickname I gave him). For two reasons: firstly, I was influenced by a piece of this album cover that I thought was cool, and second, I didnt feel like overly worrying about face proportions. I feel like this is a golden opportunity for symbolism, but I just can't quite put my finger on an in-character reason why he would have a book for a head. Maybe it represents the formation of a new part of his mindset where he learns to be more wary of people? Maybe it represents the most flawed part of his character as he goes through this journey and makes it immediately obvious who's not gonna judge him based on his looks? Maybe both?
That's my one single fleshed-out OC that I have at the time of my first watching this video. Lemme know what y'all think.

Thankfully I thought about my characters stories, personality and background before designing so I can incorporate all that to said design, my story is based off the Roman times and right now I’m doing a bit of research so I can make my story a little accurate while also adding my on spin on things
I have many OCs, my oldest one with had 15 of Development went through many major design changes such as the sharp triangle guideline shapes turning into square triangle shapes. I was to make a Manga, I would have him be the mentor of the protagonist, since I would find the protagonist to be more relatable to the target audience.
Really interesting video, a lot of beginner tips which I love. I've been working on my story for over a year and this helped me a ton.
Honestly, I don't understand how some people can push out many OCs on a whim 😅 Because I need to have their personality and background information developed at least a bit in my mind before coming up with a finalized design I'm satisfied with, I usually stick to fanarts when I feel like drawing.
I've been creating in my mind this one story I'd like to one day write as a webcomic or manga since 2017 and I still do not have finalized visuals for all the characters 😅 Some of them still have vague unfinished designs because their background informations don't fully satisfy me yet and I feel like I have yet to know them well enough to establish their looks.

I had a character for a story named Bogard Roberts...a typical student nerd who was always being bullied and fell for a girl who was being pursued by the bullies' leader as well. He was an introvert and always on his own. This girl he admires befriended him but the pressure of her female buddies and the gang of bullies forced her to make the biggest mistake of abandoning Bogard and being lovers with the gang's leader. This also is the what made Bogard become one of the most feared bad ass character in the story. Upon hearing that he was rejected and abandoned by he thought the only one who understands and accepts him..he changed his image, become a fighter who engages in street fights, underground fight clubs and even in the MMA fighting circuit. How he will find redemption, honor and how another woman will make him change his ways is the storyline. It is actually based on my own life and I know there are still plotholes I have to work on. Drawing, writing and creating manga is my therapy for my broken heart, self and a way of transforming that negative vibe into something creative that I hope others will relate. That's why I love your videos. It helps me rethink the way I make my own manga and improve on my flaws and make the ones I'm already good better. Thank you.

A character I just finished playing for over two years is the teifling glory paladin tristana Meadomoon.
She's 32 and appears human at first until you see her purple horns that meld into her shaggy layered purple ombre hair. Her fair peachy skin and blue eyes give her appearance of a normal human from a distance.
Her plain sliver scale mail breastplate and blues of her cloak and cloth tassel covers black skintight leggings and top however her turquoise great scythe is imposing and her boorch of her deity, thuellos, God of storms and nightmares is the known item to tell travelers that She's his chosen champion.
She's very shy about public speaking and a great cook. Once of a prestigious family until her mother arranged for her to be burned. Luckily she was saved and grew up in an orphanage. She's a bit of a folk hero.
I have a Dungeons & Dragons character I've played that I can apply to a story in a separate universe.
Clem Deepwell is a 24 year old halfling who is a private detective. She becomes one in the hopes that she'd discover her parent's whereabouts after they disappeared when she was around 11 years old. All she remembers was that loan sharks demanded her father give the money back to them after taking a loan. Since their disappearance, Clem had to live with her grandparents and move to a different city to avoid the loan sharks going after her.
Accompanied by her therapist, Doctor Karla Ursel, Clem is often asked to solve mysteries and expose the culprits who've committed crimes, but she takes a special interest in missing persons cases.
As mentioned before, Doctor Karla Ursel is often seen with Clem and would ground Clem when she sees or hears things that trigger her dissociation episodes. However, Clem mostly catches herself slipping into that state and grounds herself by tapping her temple three times. Otherwise, Clem is analytical, logical, and often serious with a talent for drawing realistic portraits, buildings, and objects. Her artistic abilities are mostly used on the job as opposed to a hobby.
In terms of her appearance, she has dark brown, long, spiked hair; some of which is tucked underneath a brown hat that flops slightly to one side. She wears a white shirt with brown shorts that are held by bracers on her shoulders. Clem also wears a brown coat and brown, ankle high boots with laces.

*‼TL;DR: i'm just telling you how to make the story sound less like you're plagiarizing naruto.‼*
names are different but mostly everything else is a carbon copy of naruto. the plot, of a god being sealed inside of him by his parents, and some guy in a shop caring for him.
first, we need to know the setting. is it set in the past, present, or future? because this could change some things.
second, do you intend to make this for children, teenagers, or adults? that could also change some things. i doubt this story is for children though.
for a past setting for adults, i would suggest thinking of things to make the plot different. like for example, maybe the mother die of an epidemic, but before she did, she sealed susanoo inside him, as a way of preserving her life in him. the father kills himself directly after the mother dies.
the only person who cared for kenji enough to adopt him as a baby would be itadori. maybe give itadori some form of backstory as to why he cares so much for kenji. maybe say, he lost his wife and kids when some warriors raided the village. the warriors abused his wife in front of him, and his kids tried running but were shot by arrows when they turned their back.
if this sounds too dark, you can turn it down a few levels.
for some things you didn't mention, maybe give kenji an older sister. a sister who carries amaterasu inside, or maybe an older sister figure. if you're going by japanese deities, amaterasu is the older sister of susanoo.
if you're trying to go for a naruto-like story, maybe instead of making it a three-man squad, make it a four-man squad or five-man squad. maybe even no squad at all, and no missions. maybe even make it an adventure! make more female characters too. don't use the female characters for pure fanservice. since it seems like you're going for a fantasy, maybe instead of there being some powers, maybe make the powers only accessible to the people with gods sealed in them, or priests or whatever, kind of like inuyasha.
of course, i can't tell you what your story should be, but i can tell you that you shouldn't steal ideas off of other mangakas. of course, inspiration is fine! all mangakas got their inspiration from somewhere. you just don't overuse the inspiration. then it becomes plagiarizing.

My ocs Raine and Aster are pretty important characters to each other’s stories.
Raine is 15 when they first meet and is considered attractive by their peers. He has long flowing black hair, shining amber eyes, has the voice of an angel, tall, skinny, and basically what people wanted. Others naturally crowded around him because of his looks and he abhorred that with his whole self. He hated it because he felt it took away from his passion of music. The passion he had dedicated his whole life up to this point. Even if Raine felt this way, he still tried his best to please others. Raine treated them with kindness, excepted gifts, he did everything. On the other hand, Raine has been getting burned out with the fact that he’s getting no where with his music and the feeling gets worse until the day he meets Aster.

My OC doesn't have a name yet, but he is a police detective, hes 37 years old. He has had a rather painful past that led to the death of his wife and child and he blames himself for him. This led him to dive into the depths of nihilistic and pessimistic philosophy and now he see only the bad in the world. He is a person, who is a victim of self-hate. He just exists. He is a self governed person when it comes to desires and don't give into them. He also has a special interrogation method where he looks into the eyes of the suspects and can tell whether someone is lying or not!

Jordan Achlyn, 15 years old (at the beginning). Moderate height, black hair in a japanese style (think like a more dense version of dr tenma's early hairstyle) influenced by his japanese best friend, Jasmine. He is american, living in a town 90 miles from chicago in 1994, his favorite band (at the time) being Green Day. He likes the thrill of boxing and is very passionate of rock music.

What I like to do to make a character is something I got from Araki. Take a song you like and make their personality feel like that song, and expand from there. I've made a lot of characters this way and it makes designing them MUCH easier and fun
For me man, I always think of my characters and put them in social situations in my head. Each main character of mine would always have a different reaction to a situation, and I always find that funny because that’s just who they are.

My manga is not one single story. It follows seven different stories with people experiencing different phases of the life and overcoming there internal conflicts. The twist in the story is that there is one character connected to all of these seven characters. He is good in the start and helps everyone overcome their nightmares. I have basic idea of the backstories and the experiences of all the characters but i am not able to clearly visualize them. It is always some rough image which I am never able to transfer to paper. Can you help me?
We suggest you work on just 1 story first with 2-3 main characters before you do something more complicated.

And thought she was kinda cute. She liked him as a person now instead of a idol and they became friends. And then he confessed his feelings for her pretty awkwardly. And she excepted, and they started dating. And they are super In love. Colton is very comforted by maya. She is kind and smart but not athletic at all. She loves bathes. And she has a cat. Tomo Mazuka, A 17 year old girl who lives in her abusive household. She always get neglected by her parents,Beaten by her dad whenever she done mistakes. She's just a fragile scared petite girl who just wants to finish her Academic years,get a job and leave the house to let alone die.
She's socially awkward between her classmates or strangers,they would think she's a wierd otaku even though she's not. She's talentless,she wants to do something that can make someone proud but wouldn't. That's when she stumbled upon Riku Tomoya, A 17 year old boy who seems like a normal teenager at first but isn't.
Riku has many secrets and fears under his sleeves. he may look like a mature boy but deep inside he's empty, Alone. His secrets are stalking Tomo. But why would he stalk a normal weird girl? What's the catch?. Riku who suffered from depression,lived alone. He met her from afar, that's where he realised. The two of them are suffering together, He thought if he befriend Tomo, everything will be okay but... Little did he know he doesn't know how to socialise,he just fears of getting rejected. So these passed two years he had been stalking her. Watched her. With those feelings,his feelings deepen. He kind of fall in love with her.
That's kinda all, Maybe someday I'll think more idea to add depth on these characters. I pretty have more ocs under my pillow heh. But these two are just special to me.

Mine is Kiseki Kushitada a human who lives in a world were multiple other entities exist I thought about the abilities and powers and the age of my character and I decided to make him 19 and as there is more population there was more demand and so resources were much more expensive and so he doesn't were much but a coat and with a neck warmer on and blue pant with some gloves on he is a magician not like magical stuff but more like who does tricks and entertain having more of a silly and crashes out other the smallest things the power system is of hakai and energy that only when person has a sense of omnipotents and all power in their hands or of determination
He also was raised by a mother who told him not to do stupid things like drinking smoking because of his mother's beliefs it's giving up on life and Kiseki seems to agree since in the city where they live multiple people in the streets how are homeless with no education have given up on life and start drinking and smoking but it is even worse of a disaster since some of the creatures are larger and some stronger and faster so human race is one of the weakest races but some people mastered Hakai and nigh omnipotent ability witch can harm anything or work on anything. Even an omnipotent but also the ability of the user is nigh omnipotent not the user so that can also be effected from something they always were
