I had to disconnect my actuator flap motor and been running the car without it for a year now. However there might be a slight power loss. But not worth the $200 spare part (Volvo). Then I found your video. You are extremely clear about what to do and what not to do. Awesome tutorial, thx a bunch!
Had to chose to either make a 8-10 min interesting appealing video or a 40+ min detailed one. Hope you get yours working. I used contact cleaner spray before and it works for a while but doesn't last. WD-40 lasts a long time.
@@IONHowTo You're not gonna believe me but I thought the video was about 10 min long. I just jumped to the parts where I was confused the most. And I didn't even notice it was that long lol Keep up the good work mate! Cheers from Turkey ;)
Thanks for your video! I’m Brazilian and I have a VW Polo 2004. I apply contact cleaner before too. In my language a only found this option, but now I will test WD-40 that you show. If success I record a video to help peoples in my country. Thanks
WD-40 will not seem different while you do it but it will last longer. Record it for sure. These videos started as a way to log what the parts looked like before I take them apart. First was pictures, then videos, then uploading. Start a channel with the repairs you do!
Thank you so much for posting this video, you are very kind to take the time to do this to help people like me. Can you tell me what position the flap should be in when the recirculation light is on, (mine is permanently stuck in the on position), Thank you.
Light on means the flap is open. Not sure on this how it would look like but I didn't have to turn the potentiometer and it would have been very hard to do anyway. You can replace the whole motor assembly that includes the potentiometer. In the video the flap was closed when I took it out - you could use it as a reference. Make sure the flap and hot/cold gears go on the motor gear as shown in the video.
My flap works as displayed on the video after your fix, however I when I scan with VCDS I get error code "01596 Motor for outside/Recirculated Air Flap(V154) 55-00 - adaptation not successful". What does this mean as the flap is opening and closing as expected? POLO 9N3.
Going to look at my Skoda Fabia today, maybe removing the fan motor first would enable better access to that motor? Be interested to know if the hot/cold motor is the same procedure.
You could remove the heater blower motor and check it but you don't have to. This motor is for both recirculating flap and for hot cold adjustment. I don't know how it can do both but there is no other motor there on my car. When you have hot air / cold air problems this fixes it. This also fixes recirculating flap problems where it turns on and off or not on at all.
Its located in a different spot on the fabia (i am trying to fix it myself on the mk1 fabia). Its on the left side of the middle-console. Hatboy harvey has video showing it: ua-cam.com/video/kpv-mzBT8dQ/v-deo.html My car is left hand drive so unfortunately its a bit difficult to get access to it so far..
It worked. Recirculation is fixed now. But this didnt fix the slow switching from cold to hot and vice versa. Any other motors that need this treatment in order to fix this issue? Thanks
@@rackenjoyer oh Maybe I was confused about it. For me this time was the recirculation but had the hot cold problem too before. Hope you can find how to fix it
Hi! Ive been looking for this video for 3 years!!!!!!!! Thanks alot for it! I have the excact same problem. If I start the car with maximum heat it will blow maximum heat. And same with cold. But when I change from max to for example 22 degrees the car blows just minimum heat (the coldest). Now it's recorded in full 4K HDR (I thing). Use WD-40 not contact cleaner. It will last much longer.
@@viktordavidsson8017 Thanks for watching. It's straight classic wd-40. Before, I used contact cleaner on the same thing before and it lasts much less. Wd-40 inside where the contacts touch. Spray a generous amount and dry the outside with a paper towel. Don't spray wd-40 on the gears. Those have grease that doesn't need to be disturbed. Hope it helps you!
Bonjour . Sa fait 4h que je n'arrive pas à le remettre . A vide il fonctionne. Une fois mit, sa force ... je l'ai démonter ouvert avec la roue au milieu. Faut t'il la mettre à fond à droite ou à gauche ? Merci
The recirculating flap was closed most likely when you took this out. Move the flap to closed and use a flashlight to see there is a second gear inside next to the recirculating flap. Watch the video carefully to see the gears position before removing. You should use a flashlight and don't force it. Then alignment is correct, this motor slides between the flap gear and the second gear so that it moves both when it's opening and closing. Hope you get it back in.

Hello. I have the recirculation light always on. When I switch it off, it will switch on again automatically. When I put in reverse the light switches off.
That's strange, for me it was always off. Check if the recirculating flap moves at all and if there is something blocking it from closing. Flap open - light on. If it can't close it I guess it's what you have.
