Wonderful, thanks for sharing. Was in the front row at what was to be his final concert in Cardiff with my late father. He sang a number of these songs on the night and of the five times I saw him live the last performance was my favourite. Tower Tall and The Bosses Daughter, two personal highlights of the night. Was absolutely astonished when the news broke about his passing the day after. What an amazing talent and I feel very lucky to have seen him perform on several occasions and shake his hand.
So lovely to see this - such a lovely person and SO missed. Gene was chock full of talent and yet so ordinary in real life. Never met anyone like him. but proud to have known him in the 60's. ❤
He’s always been my favorite singer. I actually had the honor of meeting and visiting his mother. Long story but she touched me so deeply I promised myself that when I had children if I had a daughter I would name her after her. I told my daughter Ruthie this story my daughter Ruthie’s middle name Anne is after Gene Pitney’s mother
Starting in 1965 I had the privilege of seeing Gene in concert 15 times and his voice just kept getting better. There will never be another. We still miss you.
HOW CAN I FORGET THIS MAN..... I WAS AT HIS CONCERT WHILST MY SON WAS BEING BORN IN 1989. 2 WEEKS EARLY & NO SUCH THING AS A "MOBILE PHONE". OOPSEY .... ❤💔💪🙏🙏
A unique voice, though his live vocals at times a little harsh, but this was Gene's trademark. I named my son Gene in memory of Pitney. He left us far too early. His songs are always played in our home and they bring back wonderful memories.
A man of talent by way of singing, instrumentalist, dress code, manners, respect and personality. Can anyone please tell me the names of any of today's " superstars " who could even come close to this man's calibre ? Today's " talent " is more about near - nudity and crotch - holding, with their two word lyrics and two chords backing " music ". I rest my case.
Gene had a lot of hits in Australia in the 60"s and 70's, he was a favourite of mine at a time when there was a lot of great music to choose from. I also read somewhere he was obsessed with nutrition and healthy living long before it was massively popular, he was way ahead of his time. God bless you Gene.
Do yourself a favor! And put your favorite Gene PITNEY song, on LOOP on your computer, and play it over and over for an hour or two. The only thing you'll need to adjust is the volume, to suit your mood. Mine is Twenty Hours From Tulsa. And I've been listening to this "magic" voice, for over sixty years. Hard to believe I grew up in Cardiff, in NSW, in the 50's and 60's he died in Cardiff in WALES in 2006. Miss him, but play his music DAILY!
I don't think anyone could not love that voice wow. If he had been my age . I would have married that voice. Even though I don't believe in marriage he could have talked me around. ❤😅
What can I say about this performance? Gene was the total package! Singing and musical talents, charisma and charm, incomparable stage presence, impeccably dressed, and those dreamy hazel eyes. Those closeups made me feel as if he were singing just to me. Props to the camera people. And, thanks, Tush, for sharing this video gem with me. I'm sure I will play it over and over again. Sigh. @ 14:15 -- was that pretty redhead Gene's wife Lynne?
So many singers are good singers but aren't particularly good at phrasing. When they cut a record, a producer makes the phrasing as good as it can be. This is an example where a singer took songs that he made famous on recordings directed by the producer, tries to be cool and original by changing the phrasing and destroys the song. Happens so often. Ego I guess.
@@winiqueIam The two things have nothing to do with each other. A live song can be correct but the singer doesn't have a producer to keep the singer's ego in check.

Went to Perth city halls, many years ago to see Gene in concert, what a super star he was.

Nothing i can add. Always been my all time favorite & there sure isn't anyone around that can even come close to changing that.

It's so great to find this video. Pitney was an important rock and pop influence.
Nice to hear some songs I've never heard before. Absolutely one of my favorite singers and some of my favorite songs.
Fantastic
We saw Gene at Sunderland Empire, what a voice.

Even better piano singer
Loved this song A Town Without Pity. ❤
Saw Gene 10 years later in Hamilton. Came away a bigger fan than | had been. Both his voice and personality were impressive.

sorry to interrupt the theme in the comments, but is there an audio/video desync about half way, or my pc got messed up again?
Hi brvid...seems to play back fine on my system. Hope it is nothing too serious...
Shame about the lip syncing on some tracks 😪

What's your background . Mr. Know it all . Don't care how he phrases.
@@Weyjx You don't know what it means.
Maybe that's why it's called a live performance ?
