- Detriot Diesel crew boat doing a rope swing personnel transfer from a platform, then getting under way to head to Fourchon.
We are on a DP Vessel close to the platform to do some scrap recovery in the nearby area and I just happened to have a free moment and my camera. I heard the boat coming in and knew the Detroit Diesel fans, me being one of them, would love the sound.
And yes, I get to hear that fog horn every 20 seconds all day, all night, 24/7, while awake, sleeping, eating, showering, etc, etc...... - Розваги
If you ask me that’s what a boat and city bus is supposed to sound like.
Those are Detroit Deisel engines. They are two stroke engines.

The awesome thing about a screaming Jimmy is that they are all talk/tourqe 😀 gotta love the buzzin dozen
Looks like an old Graham Marine crew boat. I usedto work out of Fourchon on the Edison G. we worked is the West delta79 oil feild, Mississippi Canyon, and one trip to Green Canyon in a 110 ft. Utility boat.
There's nothing like the sound of twin 12v71
I use to run those boats back in the early 80's when I was a twenty three old kid. I gotta say those were the days, two weeks on, one week off, drove over from Florida. There are some backwater bayous we ran out of, it was always interesting...
Nice Boat, nice sound. Reminds me of my work in Nigeria's shallow waters doing seismic survey with Prakla Seismos AG. (Survey Vessel Manta) Missing it!

wow,i used to work out of Fouchon ,Chevron field back in 76-77and spent a few hours on them older boats too with those detroits singing ,but come crew change you pray for good weather so you dont have to ride one in to the to the parking lot , them helicoptors were the fastest way to the 1st beer joint

though i think all detroit 2 strokes sound great, i personally like the sound of detroit marine engines. maybe it is the lack of mufflers.

The leaking oil would keep them from rusting in that sallt air

@asulca593 i kno what u mean they have a deeper tone it has somthin too do with the exhaust bein really wide and a few other things

I'll bet any amount of money that Crewboat there once belonged to Graham/Seacor Marine. Its got )5 Power like all of Grahams crewboats.
If the speed matched the sound/noise it would be freakin scary!

It's probably one of those Crew boats that used to belong to John E. Graham and sons. All Noise, no power!!!!

Excellent video (notwithstanding that fog horn)! Correct me if I'm wrong, those sound like twin 12-71 turbo Detroits on that crew boat. Nothing compares to the sound of those motors running at 2000 rpm! Check out VOLVIENDO A PUERTO on UA-cam (from TitanComodin, playing time 3:43) for the sounds of twin 12-71 Detroits at their finest!
I wish there was a video of the twin screw mercedes engines on a crew boat. Best sounding engines ever. Just awful to maneuver.

@@c.carney1948 Looks like one of the old Graham vessels before Seacor Marine bought the company. The sent most of the Graham fleet over to Africa.
Looks like that’s the Arata they boat worked with us for cantium in Bay Marchand
