- In this video we complete the LGRP Ultra 24 SCX24 build! After hitting some roadblocks in the first episode regarding the powertrain, I identify a workable motor and driveshaft combo. With a beating heart in the beast, I complete assembly of the chassis, body panels, and scale accessories. Finally, we get to turn the PUNISHER loose on the course!

Your channel has 100% made me want to go build an SCX24. I had no idea the aftermarket was so robust for the little things. The panels were sick until the skull logo went on. Really would have looked better all on the roof; splitting it up screwed with the proportions too much. But what a sweet little rig!
You mean just putting the skull logo on the top? I thought about just doing the hood because of the shape. But I can always redo it. Thanks for watching!

Aside from messing with throttle curve, I usually assign "button 1" on my avatar to be the throttle reduction option, makes it nice when you get in those technical spots then you can flip it right back off if you need more power.

Great job. I did my Ultra 24 build with the Little Rocket motor in the Furitek ESC. It has similar power when. Digging into the throttle but gentle when it needs to be. Have fun and keep us updated on the adventures of takes 🤙

Got the same motor on my SCX24 Bronco and holy shit. that thing has sooooo much torque it will climb just about anything w/ the right setup.
The power of that little motor is crazy good.

Maybe it would be possible to mount the body panels inside the frame. That way you'd be able to see the cage and still have the panels to hide the electrics.

Awesome build and video! I am curious what your thoughts are from a performance standpoint of the Furitek setup vs a LGRP or Injora 50t/66t brushed. I mean is it mostly bragging rights and cool factor, because it is sweet looking, or is the performance really worth the huge price difference. I have been contemplating the upgrade but at the same time I have never really felt the need for anymore power or slower crawl ability than what I get from those brushed motors. This might be a good video topic to cover sometime =)
You should check out my brushless conversion series where I did my first brushless motor in the gladiator. My reaction says it all! But to answer your question, the power and control you get from a brushless motor is beyond comparison. Brushed motors simply are not even in the same arena. You truly have to experience it to fully comprehend how impressive the little brushless motors are. I should do a comparison video though because I've actually been getting this question pretty frequently lately.
@@CapeCrawlers Cool I will check it out! I always ran brushless in my race buggy's because as you said there is no comparison in the control but at the slow speeds and small scale of these things it just didn't seem like that big of a deal.
I just ordered my kit! I'm thinking about going all out and getting brass portals. What does that chassis look like in the rear? Would it fit a steering servo back there if you run it low without springs?
It would likely take some modifications to the chassis. There are braces in the rear where the ultra chassis attaches to the rear of the frame rails. If running with no springs I don't know if the servo would fit in there.

Thanks! it would be tough to do 4WS on this I feel just because of how the rear end sits over the rear axle. It may take some trimming to fit the servo in there

Nice looking setup. Too bad they didn't design it such that the cage "body" hinged, or was otherwise easily removeable. I learned from my Axial Bomber that I really dislike cage chassis builds. Just too much hassle to work on. And since this kit uses standard SCX24 frame rails, I don't see the point in having the cage be integral with the chassis. I much prefer my Enduro Gatekeeper over the Bomber for this reason. Same caged look, but one is a PITA to work on, and the cage/body comes right up out of the way on the other. Other than looks, and good tire/wheel clearance, I'm not seeing what this kit brings to the table for $100. At least not with the restrictions it brings being a cage chassis. Maybe I'm missing something....
You make good points. It's not something I ever want to take apart again to work on, that's for sure. The chassis does perform really well aside from just looking cool. The 3D printing is excellent and very strong. It's a premium price tag for the kit but I think the quality justifies it.
This project was eye opener for me, but I don't wanna buy stock SCX24 - Please, does anyone have a list of everything used?

Hey Adam, How are you liking the avatar Transmitter? Is there any others you would recommend to run multiple cars?
I love it! I love the micro rx, the functionality of the transmitter itself, and the small size. I recently got a Flysky GT5 and that is also amazing. It can store up to 20 rigs (double the avatar) and has more functionality at almost half the cost.

I mostly hoard spare parts from new upgrades. I reuse what I can and hide the rest! But Mofo RC and LGRP both sell hardware kits.

I could not get it to fit forward without cutting the cage/chassis

It was still too big. I would have had to cut a big chunk out of the rear of the cage. That thing is huge! I've got other plans for it also.
Can you use anything other than a stock style frame?
I don't think so because the cage is built so snugly around the stock frame rails. It really is amazing how tight everything fit together.
Try and make the panels fit on the inside of the frame.

Very nice build! About how much did this entire build cost? Also, I would love to see a capability comparison between this and some stock 24th and 18th scale rigs.
I’d have to tally it all up, but probably around $450
I’d really like to build a small RC in the 1/24-1/18 scale. After watching dozens of videos I think the Capra UTB18 is the most intriguing. I was fired up on the 1/24’s but in weighing the cost of the upgrades I just don’t feel I’m getting enough capability for the money. What would you build if you could only pick 1? The ECX Temper 2, SCX24, trx4m, or the Capra utb18?
Tough choice! Do you have access to good crawling spots? That's the determining factor for me and why I mostly stick to smaller scales. However, I am in LOVE with the UTB18 and the more I build it, the more I love it. So my answer is: if you have access to plentiful crawling spots, the UTB18. If you are short on space (like me) the SCX24.
Really like this LGRP but at $150 and still missing shocks, wheels, tires, electronics and motor it’s on the 1/10th scale level investment wise. Just doesn’t make sense.

Adam, how do you think this adds up to the Warthog now that you one?
Tough call! I need to put them head to head. I think the warthog gets the edge because it's so low. But that also can hurt it on larger obstacles and breakover's. The Ultra has the advantage with more clearance and better steering angles with the CVD's and Super 8's.
Did you add the Bluetooth module to it?
I have a bluetooth dongle that I keep in my toolbox for when I need it. I keep one or two on hand and then buy the Lizard pro without the module. It saves money and is typically more readily available.
My axial scx24 won’t accelerate any more 😢 can you please tell me how to fix it I don’t have any tools or spare parts for it 😢
Do you still have steering? If so, it's probably a bad ESC.

They are expensive, no doubt. But the base kit is $99 and you could slowly add on from there.
