No auto tune, pure voice, bass, guitar, drumming. For the youth who just discovered The Clash, you have never been to live shows! The real deal. If your stuck on what you think is out of tune bass, etc., your missing the message in this song. Listen to the lyrics and try to hear the message and meaning. Loved them in my youth from the beginning to now, their music will live forever! As a side note, remember that M.I.A Paper Planes bit on this as the loop....js
This is great footage. Wow. This is near the end for the band. Man, Joe is in great voice, and really feeling the passion. Mick's guitar sounds great, and Paul is laying down the back beat steady as always. Don't know who drummer is, but he's doing ok. Only band that matters - The CLASH!
Actually, that was Powerhouse Pete Howard on the drums. Terry Chimes left by this time. Also of note, this was Mick Jones' last performance with The Clash.
@therealsoulproduc All true. Last gig of original The Clash, San Bernardino, 1983. What a misserable end of the band; Mick and Joe haven't spoken at all more than a half year, Topper was fired more then a year ago. This only money driven gig is paid by then allmighty IT geeks whom eventualy will help multinational companies to conquer the whole World - totaly opposite what The Clash were - maybe is the best cynic epitaph to the band who once was greatest in their struggle to change consciousness of entire generations..
@@simonjames1604 Mick Jones was fired from The Clash 4 months later. This was indeed their last US show. When Mick left, that was the end of The Clash...imo
@@decimated550The Clash refused to play the show if the organizer, Steve Wozniak, did not allocate $100,000 to a summer camp for Latino kids living in East LA. Wozniak complied.
@@ocielgarcia105 wow! I asked that question a decade ago and then an answer comes flying in. Cool. I can't say I'm too pleased with that story because The clash wanted to seem as if they were Robin Hood robbing the rich and giving to the poor that was their chance. Sounds like some strong arm tactics to me. And they wanted to seem as multicultural as possible by helping out some brown kids. I wonder what they would think of Britain now In 2024

It's really not that vague. It's also just socialist dreck by Strummer who was arrogant enough to say he didn't like music at all. It's not poetic or deep. Cool song though.
Well this was poigniant seeing as I have been stuck in cambodia for too many years. I expect next door they should get it. But even post the nightmare khmer seem to prefer ignorance ( which they aint - arogant yes) to reality. I play this a lot.

I think that's Terry Chimes on drums - The way I understand it, Topper Headon was struggling with drugs at the time and touring wasn't helping him.

saw them open for the Who in Seattle around this time - great show
Joe .....R.I.P. 20 years
I was there..They do not show the stage drama that preceded the show, as the Clash came late from negotiating Barrio issues in LA.

Either Paul's bass is out of tune or he plays it wrong. Lol
Its definitely out of tune considering how many times I've played this song on bass
Good lord paul tune your bass I always questioned his quality of playing.
as did the clash themselves a lot of ""classic" clash bass lines arent even him, magnificent 7 for example
why is joe holding his ear?
His earpiece, so he can hear the rest of the band better.
He didn't have an earpiece, the feedback from the speakers was intense
Nowadays we have taylor swift
One of the worst voices in a concert I've ever heard, aside from this, I love the clash
Sounds rough, like they were out of practice playing it
You'd be surprised how difficult it is to play a song like that, LIVE
Yea, not a patch on the studio recording
It suck
Not nice
