It is time to return to Kingdom Hearts, this time with 358/2 Days!
This is a game that folks told me to, "just watch the movie.", but no! I wish to experience the story as a whole, allowing the little things to give me greater insight of the characters involved.
Whilst this is a DS game and the graphics are not as pretty as we are used to, I am still excited to play the story of this!
Let's see what the Organization 13 has been up to during our previous games!

Yay! Omg this is a good one! Glad you're back with kingdom hearts. And yeah good you're actually playing the game. The movie doesn't really do the story justice in my opinion.

It's not an exageration to say that this game changed my life. I think it was the first videogame I played that had such an impact on me. It made me feel so much! It made me love video games too
It was also my first kingdom hearts btw. A bit of a weird entry point people would say, but not a bad one imo

This is the one that made me the most emotional as well.
Xion's name does mean something but it'll be a while until you get to know it.
It's pronounced more like Shion (the X sound is almost a chi)

I really like this game's trio, they're my favourite (not biased at all)

Days is one of my favourite KH stories, but the game itself is a bit... dated. However, some of my favourite moments are absent from the movie, so I'm really glad you're playing the game!!
'At Dusk I Will Think Of You' is such a good song too. Hot damn we're so back.
I play a lot of dated games on this channel, so no worries to me. Though I will admit that DS dated often feels worse than PS1 dated =/

Very happy you decided to play this instead of watching the movie, I love the story of this one. Here some refresher on names if u need it.
-Ansem seeker of darkness (Kh1 final boss, Xehanort heartless)
-Ansem the wise (DiZ, guy in red bandages)
-Xehanort (Ansem the wise’s apprentice that turned into the heartless Ansem seeker of darkness and the nobody Xemnas)
-Xemnas (Kh2 final boss, Xehanort’s nobody)
In the intro scene in when Roxas is given his name that was Xemnas not Ansem.
Also there is a multiplayer mode called mission mode on the title screen but you can still play harder missions there for extra rewards, you should check it out later on, it’s cool.
Names are the hardest bit to remember, so thank you!

Hey welcome in! I did KH1 first, then CoM, then KH2. Now we are here.
It is taking time to go through the series as I am not playing the games back to back. For my enjoyability, I prefer to avoid playing a series back to back. I also often play large games, like Tales of Vesperia was over 100 episodes, so when I do a project I do it all the way.

The Diary is the unlockable I mentioned before. You get Roxas's entries for completing certain story-Missions. However, there are alternate, "B-side" entries for each of them that are written from the perspective of other Organization members. Thankfully, you can also see these entries on the collection with the movie version of the game, so you don't need to worry about doing anything for them.

You should keep an eye on that mini-screen. Just....for reasons. :P
Yes! And sometimes, sadly, there are missions and tasks you won't be able to 100% til you get new abilities or better weapons.
"Well that's not very nice." I do love this joke. It's not my favorite in this game, but it is definitely up there.
Hmmm....I don't know how spoiler-y it would be at this point to answer your question on how the Nobodies-getting-hearts thing would be, so I'm not going to explain except to say that Sora was a special case in which his Nobody and Somebody somehow existed at the same time, and they can't do that, which is why DiZ was so fixated on getting Roxas to return to Sora.

You can use the stuff you find on missions! If you go back and look, when you opened the item menu, there was the option to toggle left/right. The stuff you picked up is shown there.
Larxene is referring to their plot to manipulate Sora, when she talks about 'somebody else'.
-I called him “Blonde Sora” at the start of KH2, and people laughed. I had no idea how right I was haha

Excited for you to see this game’s story! Like Chain of Memories I feel like it’s able to be more heavy because we don’t have Donald and Goofy with us all the time lol.
Slight correction: Heartless don’t have hearts themselves. Pureblood heartless are just pure dark beings with no souls or heart, while the emblem heartless hold onto someone’s heart and essentially trap it, but they don’t have hearts themselves that they actually use.
That’s why they’re still just mindless monsters lol

Sometimes the other members will Give you sidequests. If your going to do them do it first. Continuing story will cancel them. Some might have a bigger window.
So far, I talk to all of them each day before talking to Saix =]

@@Soulkrist17 yeah, the movie is a quick way to get you know things and move on. With it's fine. But the game you get the full experience. And more Larxene too, so it's a win win

i mean solong the chestical is not trapped, cursed and or a mimic you always open it
(ok sometimes you want to fight the mimic but that is the exception)

There is a way to play this game on 1 screen, sort of in HD if you want to look into it. It brings the hud to the top and gives you full stick camera controls and makes it more playable.
As for the game itself... I'm not really a fan of the gameplay, but it does have some of the best writing in the series.
I don't have a problem with the gameplay for controls tbh, but it's cool that is out there for those that want it.
Sure, it feels like a handheld game, but it is one so that's okay. Really enjoying the game and story so far.
@@Soulkrist17 It just gets kind of grindy and this is where the series really started to have what people consider "floaty combat". It's definitely not as fast paced as kh2 and it takes a good long while before the game feels good to play and you feel you have options.
When you get to it, recoded has the oposite problem, where the gameplay is actually amazing and the story is... inconsequential at best and very dumb at the worst lol.

Never actually played this one, but I do feel it’s better to just go with the flow of the story. The movie does do some cutscenes voiced that aren’t in this, but yeah it’s better to just experience the story of Roxas’ time in the organization.Speaking of, you may be able to put together a rough time line of the other games you’ve already played too within those days, but yeah. Hope you enjoy, and that the DS emulation works well enough

Anyway, it's been a bit since my last comment.
Since then I have bought and 100%ed Unicorn Overlord. Highly recommend it. Especially for anyone else like me who is interested in the idea of tactical RPGs but doesn't enjoy the grid-based systems that dominate 99% of the genre.
I would also be quite a ways into Eiyuden Chronicles by now if not for the fact that my Amazon pre-order was delayed t the 11th of this month.

I like that Roxas gets a second game for himself. I found the amount of post-game in KH2 really detracted from his role as the main character.

This game is one of the few where there's no secret story stuff locked behind difficulty (Thank goodness!) so it doesn't matter what you choose. That's not to say there isn't anything unlockable, but that's something I'll talk about more once it becomes relevant.

Remember how you were saying earlier in stream that you associate Roxas with yellow?......yeah, this conversation on day 255 is also doing that. These gut punches start early (Who out of the characters present here survived the longest in KH2?)

So this little bit about his name and Xemnas's name is the first of maaaany Easter Eggs we get referring back to Roxas's week of life in the prologue of KH2. These are the same exact things Axel asked him to test if his memory was back.
Yupp, this game has a multiplayer mode where you can play as different member of the Organization, as well as a few unlockable characters like Mickey and Riku.
To be fair! Roxas asked and Axel told him all he had to do was 'find' it. :P But yes, moments like this are why I love this game's story so much.
Axel, as Roxas is opening the chest, trying to figure out which of the Organization members is best suited to raising a child: Am..........*I* the most well-adjusted of us all? Really?

Yeah, those "Fire" you can install more of them so you don't need to use an Ether after each one
I don't know what emulator you are using, but normally they let you "improve" the graphics artificially with things like antialliasing or hd render, maybe you could touch it a little if it's so ugly haha
That is what I thought, so it is sort of like preparing spells in D&D. I prep 3 fires, I can cast 3 fires, I like this system!
And yeah the game is a little ugly, but Desmume isn't the greatest for graphics (but is very stable). I will toy with it some, but had to do some toying already to get audio bugs to go away.
@@Soulkrist17 I can't emulate on computer but my softmodded 3DS can give this game a proper widescreen mode so a PC should definitely be able to do that as well.

Isn't complex, is hard to remember things. But they remember us of important things in games.

True. Isn't too dificult to understand. People understand FF 7 lore, and it's have as much content as KH.
