- Dan Patrick discusses Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani hitting his 48th home run last night to go along with 48 stolen bases on the season and explains how whether or not Ohtani reaches the milestone of 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in the same season, this season is already special
You said it. Instead of Ohtani sitting on the bench nursing his Arm injury as a SP, he decided to be to a use for his [new] team, beating majority of career hitters, slugging with only one 100% arm, to a new MLB record…
Wether you are Yankee or east coast fans/media, we all should enjoy a baseball player more rare than Halley’s Comet ☄️
There have been 20,782 players in MLB history. Only one of them has ever hit 48 home runs and stolen 48 bases in the same season. That player is also a pitcher, and currently recovering from a torn UCL. Shohei Ohtani is the greatest player of all time.
should have quoted
Yes, but those players actually played a position
@@fabianavalos1386 lmao salty 🧂
@@XxpeteguayxX am I lying?
@@fabianavalos1386 They wouldn't do it if they had a torn UCL, rehabbing. Ah sorry, they're not pitching, that's why =)))
I can only imagine what it was like following DiMaggios 56 game hitting streak. That’s how I feel watching ohtanis quest for 50/50. Like Joe D it’s historic.
“I’m not going to that club…” Seatin acts like they would let him in! 😂
!!! Ppl think 48/48 isn't as impressive when is still smth that nobody has done.
I hope he gets 50/50 regardless 🙏 would be more iconic
Right on Dan!! Who else has 48 48, that is pretty special.
5050 is very likely to me at this pace. He will not care about single double or avg, he will just do fullswing for all his bats now since the dodgers is already in playoff anyway so it is very likely.
The slew of injuries with the pitching staff has really hindered his progress. He can't comfortably go for the record with the games on the line.
It's not just the injuries, but the inconsistent pitching of the uninjured pitchers. They've been a monumental source of frustration for the team and the fans.
50 HRs gives him the Dodgers club record too, so it definitely has value. he'll get it done
People say 50th HR will be valuable, but it will actually be whatever the last HR in the season he hit will be (51, 52, etc.) that will be most valuable, because that will be the record ball.
I disagree. If Ohtani gets 52 HR and 53 SB. People will still only say he’s in the 50/50 club. No one is going to say Ohtani is in the 52/52 club or 52/53 club for that matter. Because of that most fans will remember Ohtani being the one and only in the "50/50" club but wont really remember how many actual HRs he hit. Everyone made a huge fuss about his 40th HR to get him in the 40/40 club. People mocking the fan for dropping the ball. I haven't heard anyone making any fuss about his 41,42,43,44,45,46,47,48 HR balls even though those balls put him in the exclusive 43/43, 44/44, 45/45, etc club.
50th ball will be the money ball, especially if he takes 50 bases.
Already 48/49
50-50 unequivocally has a better "ring" to it, but 48-48 is still impressive AF ...
Multiples of 5 or 10 are only considered important because we have 5 fingers on each hand. If we had 4, then the important numbers would be 4, 8, 12...44, 48, 52, etc.
I only have four fingers on each hand and i still consider multiples of 5 the bees knees.
dude is just rambling. 50/50 absolutely more newsworthy. It's how we're wired. Oh yeah, it's also harder to do.🤣🤣
@@willzsportscards 51 is even harder to do than 50. 52 is harder than 51. The reason humans use a decimal counting system is that we have 5 fingers on each hand. If all humans had four fingers on each hand we'd use an octal counting system. If we had 6 fingers we'd use a duodecimal sydtem. It's all arbitrary. But, if you like the number 50, then good for you.
Judge is in the American League and Shohei in National and each League has a MVP
Now with interleague play where every team faces one another, it should be only one player per award. They don’t have NFC AFC MVPs in the NFL or Western/Eastern conference MVP in the NBA.
Prediction for 2025....Sho hits 40+ dingers, 120 ribbies, lots of steals, maybe .280 avg., gets 20 pitching wins (including 2 no hitters), All-Star MVP, regular season MVP, Cy Young winner, World Series MVP, ESPY athlete of the year....then plays his first round of golf, breaks par and has a hole-in-one on a par 4. Bank it!
Not to take anything away from acuna who started his own 40-70 club a couple of seasons ago… 48/48 sounds amazing but getting to 50 homers would definitely have a special ring to it.
Imagine Ohtani one season going 41/ 73 batting .337. That would almost be unheard of!
with 10 wins as a starting pitcher
💯 agreed GOTANI 💪
People are so hung up on 50-50....48-48 is already a new record
There's an arbitrariness to our species evolving with 10 digits on our hands, so seeing the world in terms of base 10.
and this guy is a starting pitcher
People really down playing this cause he is just DH! No top 10 player can do what Ohtani is doing if they just DH'd lets be real.. shit even in history lol Big Papi has four seasons with over 40 homers and two seasons with over 50 and combined for 5 stolen bases in those seasons... FIVE 😂 and even when Ohtani is pitching he is top 5 in both offense and defense every time or damn near close to it! Stop hating and give the man his flowers!
"Russell Westbrook Junior the third"?
I was there
Can we acknowledge the rule changes too. Bigger bases and only 3 pickoffs and pitch clock. Acuña had 40/70
He now has 49 Stolen bases.
So it is 48/49.
I hope Ohtani's dog is on hand when his does the 50/50. That is a really smart dog and would be like icing on top when he makes it.
This will certainly over ride the stain of his interpreter and his dragging Ohtani's name into his behavior.
Now 48/49
he already is penalized in calculation of WAR because he is a DH and he still is top IN WAR ... some comments are negative and not knowledgeable about rating and ranking
Ohtani is the GOAT.
People are gonna walk him out of that club; barry bonds style.
48 is just as magical as 50? 😂
Ok then, give me $2,000 out of your $50,000.
I just hope teams don’t just intentional walk him, unless they really have to.
Dan you’re funny
Westbrook Junior the III, 😂😂😂
Club Ohtani 50/50
It's tough to have a triple double and have a bad game.
It’s about winning the game
If Ohtani gets 50/50 will he mess it up and get 50/51??
Does 51/52 have the same ring? I doubt he's going get to 50/50 and purposely stop stealing bases or hitting home runs.
Of course 50/50 is more magical than 48/48. Just like 51/51 would be better than 50/50. Come on man think.
Hoarders set.
Oh now he cares about baseball ?
Russell Westbrook Junior the 3rd
Davis Kenneth Gonzalez Larry Brown Joseph
Harris Ruth Lewis Brian Young Margaret
He should have 50 steeling 2nd and 3rd in the 3rd today. ??
Nah. They do not count that one. So he has 49
He only stole second. He advanced to third on an error, it's not it's own steal.
Thompson Joseph Rodriguez Dorothy Taylor Robert
Thomas Lisa Martinez Scott Garcia Kimberly
Davis Larry Williams Nancy Perez Barbara
69/69
Jackson Ruth Young Sandra Taylor Maria
Jose Rameriz is approaching 40/40/40 without the same lineup around him...
Who is that?
What has lineup got to do with hitting 40 HR's and SB's??🤦♂️
@@ItIsBigSmoke people come up any excuse
The guy hasn’t as so much played a defensive position and they’re calling him the greatest ever. He shouldn’t even qualify for MVP. People are confusing this as a popularity contest.
its a combination of stats, popularity, and narratives. he has them all. to mention that he should'nt qualify for mvp is just hatin
@@avcabalo a position player is 100 times more deserving than a guy who sits on the bench waiting for his turn to hit.
As an Ohtani fan, this season he is not the MVP for me, its Aaron Judge. But when he pitch and hit like in 2023, he is clearly an MVP.
@@punyaweeco4370 finally. A reasonable person.
@@punyaweeco4370 while you have a point there, the narrative of him having the only 50/50 season and the first DH to win an MVP is too good to pass up. A DH will never win an MVP unless he is hitting unreal numbers + doing something historic........oh wait, we have one right now. Both of them will be mvp I think but If I have to pick one, the narrative of shohei will always win.
If Pete Rose had an interpreter, he would have been scot free
😭
Judge and Sotto are amazing as well! No need to be jealous 😂
Yankees fans think they ain’t northern trash
your conspiracy theory was true…. Ohtani was the most disciplined gambling addict ever and ever
We know because from the 37 page criminal complaint that you didn’t read
the IRS took and tracked Ohtani’s electronic devices as well
And yes he didn’t log in or check that bank account. It was dormant until Mizuhara started to transfer money out of the account
Ohtani never once contacting the 3 bookies from his own devices
Not even going on bookie websites for a look see on his own devices
Not even to check odds or even see what games are up on his own devices
9600 pages of text messages on his phone with Mizuhara over a 4 year period
Never once was talk about any of the 19000 bets he supposedly made through Mizuhara over a 26 month period
That’s 24 bets a day for 2 years and 2 months straight… yet crickets from Ohtani
Take for example Jontay Porter
From what I am reading they have text messages and IP address on Porter gambling
On just 13 bets made with text going back and forth with his co-conspirator’s talking about this gambling
Found another trump supporter
Too bad Pete bet on his own team game 😞
