  • You wanted to see it. So we did it.
A long winded demonstration and exploration of three Burford Electronics guitar pedals.
The Reefer "Coral Sitar" effect sounds absolutely nothing like a Sitar in any way shape or form. What's going on inside is a fuzzy soft preamp stage, and then a rectifying octave up, which sounds like a Green Ringer type of thing.
The fuzzy preamp does sound quite good on it's own. The LHS control on the pedal balances the pramplified sound and the octave up effect. The RHS knob is just an output volume.
This means that you can run the Reefer as a soft clipping/warming preamp on its own, without the rectifying circuit.
The two f other pedals, The Britt Boost and the Britt Face do exactly what you'd expect them to do, and we've included audio and discussion of them for completeness.
The audio for the guitar is recorded post pedal line into the audio interface.
The dialogue was room recording with the Galaxy S10+ microphones .

Sounds like some digital clipping at the start? Or is the phone speaker just making it sound even worse as it decays? Or some compression making the gating super obvious lol i think it is just the phone speaker making it sound even more broken 😂🎉

I split the Guitar audio into different "Chunks" and adjusted the volume manually to try and make the audio reasonably stable. I did use a noise gate to remove some of the mains hum in the guitar signal chain when I'm not playing, but it doesn't interfere with the sustained notes.
If there's a passage when we're not talking, I muted the phone's audio.

@@Loscha yeah, you did a great job to sync it up and edit..
it must just be hearing it through to phone speaker...it just gets even more brittle than I remembered it!
