    Christian, you are amazing, helpful, encouraging with lots of discipline. After a long break, I hope being able to find time again to continue playing, in order to reach one of my goals. Thank you a lot. Stay well,

    Another great arrangement, Christian. Surprisingly easy to sightread. After 3 months of quarantine I'm finding the pop material more palatable to other family members, especially late-night. When I get more time alone I'll go back to practicing the Dr. John/Prof. Longhair/James Booker stuff. Glad you're still out there keeping us busy with new material and broadening my horizons a bit.

    I remember hearing an interview with Billy Joel on this song. He said it is really repetitive, and doesn't translate well to an instrumental piece. He also said in terms of the lyrics it is a limerick. I play this song though only as an accompaniment, complete with my lousy harmonica playing (fortunately I have two friends which handle the vocals.
    I like how you brought this to a workable version of an instrumental piece. Well done!

      Ah thats interesting, thanks! And on top it was quite an achievement to make a hit in 3/4. I would have to think to find another example.

      @@ChristianFuchsBlues I got to meet Billy Joel, delivering medical equipment to his home in Oyster Bay Cove. He was quite entertaining, even though he was hung over. I met him when he was recovering from his motorcycle accident which broke some fingers.
      3/4 time is unusual for pop music. Big Man on Mulberry Street, while not a big hit, is 12/8 timing. As is Its a Man's, Man's, Man's World. I think Norwegian Wood is 12/8, though some think it's 3/4

    I think all piano players are a bit lonely-even the greats like Billy Joel, but that comes with the territory of creating music and art. Thanks for the comments and lesson. Love it.

    Your tutorials are so great. I subscribed a few weeks ago. I'm sure your request list is crazy long, but I would love to see The Carpenters "Goodbye To Love" and Bee Gees "I Started A Joke". Thank you for what you're doing 😊.

    The arrangement was ok I guess, though it is hard to keep it varied enough as an instrumental over so many verses, which I think you were saying at the start. Obviously I will steal anything I can use in my own performance as I also struggle with the level of repetition I can fall into with this song. My skill level is not anywhere near as advanced as yours, which is why I like songs with inherently interesting chord progressions and the songs almost play themselves. The descending bass line does help, but I still run thin on ideas as the song goes on.

    Would you show me how to play

    Hello Christian, I purchased your arrangement of PIANO MAN today - please correct me if I am wrong : the score is not exactly what you are playing in the tutorial? You are improvising in the practical and the notes are not in the score? I know all my chords/inversions etc, but I haven't a clue how you do this. Regards, Joan.

    • @ChristianFuchsBlues
      @ChristianFuchsBlues  9 місяців тому

      I am not sure what you mean with the "practical". The actual song should be just as in the sheet music. However, I am not perfect. So, if you are 100 % sure the sheet music is different somewhere, please use the contact mail in my store and tell me which bar exactly. I say this , cause most of the time students misread and I dive into the detail, and then it was a misunderstanding. But if you are sure, please let me know! :-)

      @@ChristianFuchsBlues Good morning Christian, I am sure you are pretty perfect with your music! What I meant was : as you play the tutorial on the piano, is the sheet music exactly the same as what you are playing, or have you added improvisations while you are playing it? Sorry for the confusion - I'm nearly eighty and still playing around with music!!!
