This song personally helps me cope with the fact I’m likely never gonna see my grandpa again, since he and my grandma (his caretaker) moved far away and has had dementia for more than a decade now. He forgot about who i am already, because the last time I said hi to him he looked at me confused but tried to act polite. Thank you for putting these feelings of grief into song, it helps so many people.
That's exactly how I felt, I lost my grandpa the day before Easter back in 2020 and then my grandmother in the beginning of 2021 and I didn't get to say goodbye to either and I really do wish I could just talk to them

Pull my chair right up there next to you and talk to you." this part of the song hits so much, processing through grief and realizing that my grandpa only lives in our hearts and memories now has been quite difficult. Realizing that I can no longer share experiences with him is so painful because I feel that the time I shared with him was so short. I don't know how it actually is to process a loved one's passing, but what I have learned is (ik everyone processes things differently) you don't actually get over their passing but learn to accept it and to live with it, live without them. To learn how to accept missing them and wishing they were still with us. Lastly I don't know if ricky reads comments but I wanna thank him for writing this song because this song is really helping me move forward and come to accept my grandpa's passing, so thank you ricky, you made it a little bit easier. I'm able to listen to a song that I can cry my heart out to and being able to have something to relate to and connect with helps so much.

My father has several ailments including Parkinsons. I'm 46 and a single guy. I am trying to accept the fact that someday he will be no more. This song reminded me of him and our relationship. In my younger years, I never considered him as a friend but as an authoritative figure. His illness has brought us close and he has changed his views about me. I am unemployed since the last 6 years and I am living with the guilt that I could not do anything for him. In the meanwhile, he keeps telling me that he regrets he could not do anything for me, which is not true. He did a lot for me, regarding a good education and everything else. At times, I feel sad looking at his condition and helpless that I can't do anything about it.

My grandma died about a year ago from cancer, and I’ve been listening associating it with falling in love, but now, watching the music video, I understand it and see it in a different light. I’m so sad I’ll never get to see my grandma again, and we’ll never get to talk or do the things we loved doing before she got sick. I love this song even more.
Ok, my theory after watching the premiere, which by the way, gave me GOOSEBUMPS. It may just be a cool effect with the lightning, but I think Ricky got struck and "died" because he constantly wanted to talk to the other guy who was dead. In other words, Ricky finally got to "talk" to him in death, which is a bit bittersweet, but it hits really close to home to be able to get a chance to talk to passed loved ones. I might be reading way too far into this, but honestly, this song pertains to so many different relationships and situations and I'm just so glad Ricky and his acquaintances made this. Ok, this song is sad and beautiful but let's be honest, the music video would be an incredible movie. A man's father dies when he was young, so he studies his whole life to find out how to bring his dad back. He digs up his father and brings him back (several times) and they go on wonderful adventures together. The dead father helps his son with the trauma, and the son accepts that his father is gone. Seeing his father in the sky one last time, he realizes it was only a fantasy, and seems to be in the graveyard. Well then, he gets electrocuted.
my dad died when i was five years old. family members CONSTANTLY compare me to him and say i look/act just like him. apparently we were really close. it's really weird losing a parent as a kid because you realize the world is an unsafe place so much sooner than your peers. i'm sure 7 year old me had a better sense of mortality than some people my age do now. (i'm eighteen.) you have to grow up so fast and watch your family members grieve and sit there powerless to do anything. it's scary as fuck. i don't know what my dad would think of me now, or where he even is, we're both agnostic, but i hope he knows that i still think about him every day.

Yes but also Ricky is straight up so cute. This song (as i interpret it) is about Rickys relationship with his dad, and his struggle to get over his death, which makes the video make a lot of sense in a really sad context. But like Rickys hair is so floofy he’s a goth boy

My grandma died about a year ago from cancer, and I’ve been listening associating it with falling in love, but now, watching the music video, I understand it and see it in a different light. I’m so sad I’ll never get to see my grandma again, and we’ll never get to talk or do the things we loved doing before she got sick. I love this song even more.

Ok, my theory after watching the premiere, which by the way, gave me GOOSEBUMPS. It may just be a cool effect with the lightning, but I think Ricky got struck and "died" because he constantly wanted to talk to the other guy who was dead. In other words, Ricky finally got to "talk" to him in death, which is a bit bittersweet, but it hits really close to home to be able to get a chance to talk to passed loved ones. I might be reading way too far into this, but honestly, this song pertains to so many different relationships and situations and I'm just so glad Ricky and his acquaintances made this. We already know this song will be on loop for the next 5 years in our playlists!

Ok, this song is sad and beautiful but let's be honest, the music video would be an incredible movie. A man's father dies when he was young, so he studies his whole life to find out how to bring his dad back. He digs up his father and brings him back (several times) and they go on wonderful adventures together. The dead father helps his son with the trauma, and the son accepts that his father is gone. Seeing his father in the sky one last time, he realizes it was only a fantasy, and seems to be in the graveyard. Well then, he gets electrocuted.
my dad died when i was five years old. family members CONSTANTLY compare me to him and say i look/act just like him. apparently we were really close. it's really weird losing a parent as a kid because you realize the world is an unsafe place so much sooner than your peers. i'm sure 7 year old me had a better sense of mortality than some people my age do now. (i'm eighteen.) you have to grow up so fast and watch your family members grieve and sit there powerless to do anything. it's scary as fuck. i don't know what my dad would think of me now, or where he even is, we're both agnostic, but i hope he knows that i still think about him every day.

Fr I feel this while listening to this song. I had a friendship once, he was my BEST FRIEND, we were friends from 2019 to 2021, where I ended our friendship because of my idiocy. Nowadays I don't have his social medias, I don't have his number, nothing. All that's left is longing and regret and the feeling that even if we were friends again, nothing would ever be the same again.
