Most re-releases/remasters/remakes are a scam for PC players when we can already crank resolutions and framerates. I normally prefer the original releases anyway as it is closer to what the developers intended with no modern "sensibilities" tacked on.
Just played it and it's NOT just a simple remaster. Looks to be a recreation. There's so many things that just feel off about it, and it's not just the font and sounds they changed. In BF2 in the CC, they changed the objective sounds and there's no 501st journal ending entries!

Bro it pisses me off that people just listen to game studios as if they were the news and still thinks the news tells you the truth. Its HILARIOUS the "bonus content" were old dlc for the ps2.... its nothing extra except developers instead of modders make the game have playable older maps😊

The dlc was exclusive to the original Xbox it was never on the ps2, don't wanna sound like a bully but maybe check your facts next time

The biggest thing for me is the playercount. Yes there are still servers on the original versions but usually only one or two with players. Now there will be thousands for the classic collection
For about three months. Most games like this get high player numbers for the first few months while everyone bathes in nostalgia. I hope this isn't the case but sadly I think it will be.

Honestly, shocked the game is 50 gigs. No idea what is taking up that much space (I’ve heard it’s the textures). Since I have BF2 on Steam I don’t really see a reason to get this. Plus, if there’s issues with mods then there’s even less reason to get it. If someone doesn’t have a pc/laptop id say it’s worth it. But, the data amount is too high for me.
A better collection would be the C&C complete collection that was recently added to Steam. Now I can FINALLY play renegade. One of the lead guys who worked on the C&C Remaster phrased things in a way that made it sound like we’ll get more of those, and maybe even new games. Although, I won’t hold my breath for that one. Unless, EA’s plan to focus on their own stuff includes that.
If only Sony would make collections of a bunch of their old games for PS5/pc. I’ve wanted to play their”Halo Killers” for a while now (we all know the only thing that could kill Halo was itself). It’s also weird how Microsoft hasn’t made a Gears of War collection. It would basically print money.
I was buzzing about the C&C collection coming to PC. Bought it straight away even though I have an Origin copy (eww). Just got it on Steam to avoid the DRM.
Still needs a few fan patches to run but I really can't complain that much it was like 8 bucks for 12 games.

I don't know how I feel about people saying it's a scam, because the last few times I played the originals there's barely anybody playing it anyways.
So re releasing it for 3x its price is the solution? Also as of right now release day there are few players and multiplayer barely works...

What they should’ve done: All the Battlefront games rolled into one, the originals the EA ones, the two Portable ones that I didn’t even know existed for the longest time. Hell if we were being daring get the infamous cancelled Battlefront 3 in a playable state and add it to the collection - now you’ve got me.
At the very least the PSP exclusive ones. The new ones wpuld have been a nice touch too.

The only thing this helps is some of the console players. Other than that, this doesn’t matter for pc. You would think they would actually do something about porting games that are trapped on psp like elite and renegade squadron. These ports are supposed to be about making these games more accessible to people, so their blatant disregard for a better solution is pretty much a cash grab for two mods I can get on a website for free. If this was truly a remaster, I’d have thought they would have just gotten harrisonfog’s remaster project and made it official but apparently we just can’t have nice things anymore, there’s always a catch. Jeez, and I thought Jabba the Hutt was sleazy.

The game was released earlier and it launched with 3 servers only and to make it even worse they fixed some of them but they have terrible ping according to steam reviews. GUYS LET'S PLAY THE CLASSICS NOT THE NEW GARBAGE.
This collection would have been well worth it (to me) on three fronts:
- They improved the AI scripting/coding in tandem with engine update
- They fixed up the sound effects (the AT-ST, AT-TE, AT-AT, "Jedi Starfighter" interceptor, Y-Wing, A-Wing, and LAAT all desperately need corrected sound effects for their weapons). Same goes for some of the infantry weapons in BF2.
- They included a revived/'remastered' or even outright recreated edition of both PSP Battlefront titles (Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron) with modern QoL and dual-analog support.
As it stands, none of those three things seem to be addressed, and, if anything, some issues with the AI are worsened (some literally stand around doing nothing in weird spots); on top of new graphical/audio issues such as the movie clip cutscenes in BF1's campaigns having horrid stutter half the time, blaster fire visually not being in sync with the sound effect (i.e. Sometimes I'll fire a shot and it'll be silent; fire another then both sound effects the shots play back to back instantly), or the BF1 loading sequence (aside from the god-awful sound effect change for it they did for whatever reason) literally borking and doing the focus/pan-in halfway off the viewable screen.
What exactly do you mean by corrected sound effects? What is wrong with the vehicles you listed? I'm confused.

If you want real life Star Wars combat experience like the old battlefront games, download the Galactic contention mod for the game squad. you’ll have a ton of fun playing it instead of the shameless scam.
I've never played it but it looks really cool.
This feels like a nostalgia cashgrab. feels like very little effort went into this project. after downloading on launch they only had 3 servers ready that were already full with 64 people in each. I ended up refunding immediately after i saw they only had 3 pc servers on launch. I wish this would of gotten treated like the mass effect legendary edition instead of just trying to get more money for less work.

At least you can play both games in the classic collection with an Xbox controller. Unlike the original PC versions, which are mostly likely played with a keyboard and mouse.

I think the PS4/PS5 users that never owned a Xbox or pc are getting the most of the classic Collection because they've never had access to the updates like Xbox had or mods like pc players have

Might be on gamepass in like a year or 2 definetly kind of a scam, was gonna buy it then I was like wait I already have this game. might get it play it for 2 hours then refund it and maybe only buy it when its super cheap and the player count stands the test of time.

@@BrokenCircle1 I think 30fps is only when hosting online multiplayers but didn't try yet. Yesterday I played splitscreen and it's unlimited fps also is only 2 player not like xbox original with 4 player splitscreen for Battlefront 2
(Looks at my Xbox Battlefronts I've had since I was 11)
I’ve only played a couple hours of it but the AI seems far more intelligent and competent in BF2. I didn’t really notice a significant difference in BF1 but I also haven’t played that game in years, however the AI particularly for the NPC Jedi was really bad, just like the good old days. On Xbox I’ve noticed lots of server instability and difficulty finding games sometimes, and I frequently get bugs that keep me indefinitely with the respawn clock at 1 although I’m not sure if that’s a bug or a strange feature. Looks much better, the menu and music has been largely kept the same, but for some insane reason that I can’t justify they changed the victory and defeat songs in BF2 and they changed the map loading screen audio in BF1, those were three of the games most iconic sounds and they changed them for some reason, makes me sad.
Easy scam a mile off, has been really funny seeing the fallout of it actually releasing. Like, what is even new in this version? It is literally the exact thing from what I can tell. Would guess it's still 32 bit as well lol

@BrokenCircle1 I can't fathom the people who preordered, there was literally nothing new shown in any of the trailers and the 64 bit aspect as only a guess - I'd wager the system requirements there are placeholder or thumbsuck guess by some intern. A shame of the time we are in I guess :/

Not alot of 60 fps multiplayer games on the platform.
played on xbox through New Zealand like yesterday and honestly didn't enjoy it. It didn't hit as it used to. This will sell great simply because they are relying on nostalgia and people pay money simply for nostalgia. They will not even add crossplay because by the time they get to it, the game will be already semi not populated and newer games are coming out too. Big games.
So yea I requested my refund after like 20 mins of playing both BF1 and BF2. I will stick to my Current BF2 on xbox which plays very great still.

All they really had to do was get the MP working for 64 players to make it at least worthwhile on console and they couldn't do that. I also hear splitscreen is only 2 player, unlike Xbox version which had 4 player splitscreen 19 years ago. Online netcode and stability is complete garbage, and we see maps where the textures are broken (Hoth, Geonosis). Gotta love the uncompressed files too, a true trademark of modern gaming.
Battlefront 1 and 2 PC is still the definitive version, this version is just a cash grab. Aspyr had no clue what they were doing, yet the shills are still promoting it.

The mod fiasco, they sent the game to a production studio that made the trailers. It was a mistake that slipped past the review process. The new content is an Xbox exclusive dlc added to all versions of the game. The engine is updated to x64 bit which will help with stability and future modability. It’s not a mod that they’re just porting into the game. I doubt that anything will change store wise, the bf2 mods will probably need to be reworked for the newer engine. I get it, if you own the 2 games already there’s no reason to get it. I bought the game because I want to see it succeed so we could possibly get a new battlefront game. Also local split screen on pc is going to be great with my steam deck, bring it to work, throw it in the tv n play during breaks. To each their own, I suppose.
Dude you are right this is a scam. The original version of bf1 and bf2 run better than this rerelease even on Xbox series S, they didn’t even bother to add in some type of user friendly matchmaking or in game party system. They didn’t have to charge 30 dollars for this mess. They could’ve just made these VERY SMALL updates for the original versions for free.
The bad part is I made this video before the release not knowing how bad it would actually be.

I think the whole thing is that it's the easy accessibility for online play. Sure you can look up how to mod the original to get into those external servers but not everyone is going to do that. And even if the games ARE delisted that doesn't mean you can't play them of you already own them. Which means I'm sure those servers and mods will stay up. I feel you may be worrying a bit too much. The people that play on the original version shouldn't have anything to worry about. I don't think EA wipl pull a Rockstar and start taking down mods that improved the original games. If I'm wrong though I'll gladly eat my words.
External servers? The original doesn't require any modding to get multiplayer working.
As for the games being delisted or not whether or not I can play them isn't the point. It's the fact people could get the games for 5 bucks now have to pay 35 if they want them.
I don't think they'll take down mods I just don't think they'd work on remastered.

Yep. I think the game industry really needs to press the reset button. Also games being 70$ is already ridiculous and no I will *not* accept the excuse of "but it's to help the costs of development" fuck that. That's what their dev budget is for.
I miss when games were only 40-50$ at most. And I say this as a former console locked player that went to pc. Yeah the prices of games on pc are cheaper and steam frequently has sales but the prices aren't *that* much cheaper
The sad part is they used to be. I remember Steam sales back in 2015ish you used to be able to get newer games for like 10 bucks. Not they give you a $5 discount or so and call it a day

Devs refuse to optimize their games (that or think using DeNuvo or other anti-piracy shit will stop pirates lmfao 💀) and have the audacity to charge 60$ for a port.... (I love Horizon Zero Dawn and am excited for Forbidden West but uh- it should be at most 30$) and when they go on sale it's like usually what, 10% off? It's frustrating
Persona 3: Reload is pretty much the same thing as this. All it is, is an artsyle/graphics improvement with a few changes from the original, and yet it is priced at 70$. Meanwhile you can still buy the original (Persona 3: Portable) for 20$ (10$ on sale) on Steam. While Portable isn't perfect and the main complaints I've seen regarding it, is the poor AI upscaling of the games resolution to PC (since this was the PSP version); but yet again modders have most likely fixed these issues. I simply don't understand why people on PC where actually excited for P3:R for very reasons.
Also, Reload doesn't even have the female protagonist option/route that P3: Portable had.
Using persona 3 reload is a horrible example/comparison. It is not a simple art/graphical upgrade. They remade it from the ground up, re-voiced everything, created new models for every persona/character/bosses/enemy/environment/weapon/etc. Revamped gameplay, in game animations. You get the picture.
That 70 dollar price tag is insane but it’s not unjustified just because they didn’t add in the female protagonist and changed things to fit her. You chose the wrong game considering P3R was extremely well more received on launch.
I recently preordered this game and I think it is worth it. I still have the original games on Steam. I love the way they kept the menu the same as the console versions for Battlefront 2. CC has split-screen support I can finally play this game with my friends and have a wonderful time with it. I don't care what the reviews say about this game, I believe it is worth it and I am happy for it.
