- I finally put a leg over a Kawasaki KFX450R. It was cool to ride a stock example of this machine. It definitely exceeded my expectations and was super easy to ride. Overall the machine feels nimble and is very tossable. The gear ratio is hilariously short but would be perfect on tight, technical terrain. I can't wait to ride it in a more practical environment. Mike had a ton of fun on the Raptor and did a great job wearing the motovlog camera! Also, this was the first time I've edited 2 motovlog camera set ups together into one video! Been waiting for this video to come out! I have an '08 KFX and just got it fined tuned after I bought it a couple months ago. Videos are great to compare and see what the trails look like around the country.
After riding Sxs and renegades and scramblers and watching this channel, I felt I was missing out on something. So raptor 700r was purchased. Awesome channel and great footage always.

Wow great to hear man! I was a little worried it may be hard to follow with the camera jumping back and forth! The Raptor is a great, reliable machine. If your looking to rip trail and put down lots of hours it’s a hard quad to beat. The 450’s are a bit more forgiving and easier to toss around though. However with the right upgrades anything can be made pretty awesome 😬

That kfx needs a 15t front sprocket, slip on pipe, Fuel customs intake and fuel controller...
That'll perk it right up!

Those Kfx450r’s are awesome machines, I have 2 but I definitely recommend putting a steering stabilizer on them to help counter the bar feedback when out on the trails. They handle great but the bumps will beat you up and possibly throw you off. Speaking from experience 🤪😅😂

Back when I had a Polaris predator 500 it would stomp every other quad I rode with. It wan against an ltr450, raptor 700 and 660, and a yfz450.

Hi Peter, have you ever thought of doing quad tours?, im stuck in the uk, where thers only a few places to ride sport quads, watching you guys makes me sooo jealous man, would love to be able to come over to the usa, for a week of quad biking, they do something similasr in bulgaria for enduro bikes where you cann arrive after paying your cash, and they fit you out with all the gear and have 3/4 days enduro without a licence even,,, but if you ever think about doing tours for a week that would be ace, and im sure youd get plenty of business....love your videos by the way,,,from the dunes to the forest trails, love them all man

@Syver Bertilrud if it appears to be in good condition that seems like a decent price. I know used market prices have increased in the past year, I’m not sure what other comparable models are going for. I do know getting parts for them is trickier than a TRX or YFZ so that’s something to consider. They’re fun to ride tho!

Oh shoot! I never knew the kfx450 had reverse! I know that comes in handy! And Mike my friend! I know it won't be long before you put a sound maker on it especially after you go back and watch these videos! Lol I know its world of sound difference between your can am and your 450! Lol and from what Pete's saying, sounds like you can go up a tooth on your front sprocket and get you some more top end speed! Cool that you guys swapped out! Staying tuned for more!

These things are meant for non-muddy well established trails.
If you take it into even the slightest muddy trail, you end up covered in mud and mostly stuck.
If you get into a slightly rocky uneven trail. It bottoms out. If the sand is heavy and squishy, you end up stuck.
If the terrain you ride is a well established non muddy trail, they are a blast.

Very cool to see a KFX! I have an 09 and its the machine I learned on, love it to death. I am curious on how you felt about the way it handles becuase I have ridden a new YFZ and new Raptor yet I feel the KFX is super sensitive in the way it steers. Awesome video keep up the great work and stay safe
They are but once you add a decent stabilizer on it you’ll gain more control and confidence
I thought it felt super nimble. I’ve ridden it on some tighter dirt trails since this ride and it’s a very forgiving machine. The reverse is super slick too. If I had one I would set it up for the woods for sure. The new YFZ’s are very smooth but also very MX oriented with that 50inch width. It makes a big difference in the corners. The raptor is a bit of a handling turd when you compare it to 450’s but the torque makes up for it in fun factor 😬

I Rode his TRX this spring when it was refreshed and it pulls like a freight train. That thing hits harder down low then my raptor. It’s impressive

@@joshuascoot77 They build strong motors and they stand by their work. Years back Chad received his engine back from a refresh and it ended up blowing up. After discovering a mistake on their end they very quickly warrantied all the work for free. They seem top notch, maybe I'll be lucky enough to see their shop someday!
I have a raptor 660, my fiancé has an Ltz400 but bought the KFX450 today and we went out and he literally said it was gutless. I was barely into 4th and he was tapped in 5th and me and him can ride fast and hard when he’s on his ltz400. Is this bike topped out at a low speed? It doesn’t even have much power or is there something wrong with this bike. I just can’t wrap my head around how slow he is going compared to me and he can’t either. Is it because we’re so used to much more power and speed or is there something off here? Hate thinking about selling it but it just doesn’t compare…

When we have the space to run machines we will. Once he gets a few upgrades on the KFX we’ll definitely have to line them up. Our Ditches open next month and we can start riding locally again 👍
He has lined up against a couple other machines. One video is nothing but drag racing. That kfx wouldn't stand a chance so what's the point?

15t front sprocket is a game changer on the kfx

Definitely man they aren’t as nice top end wise like your raptor but they get up and go and are very light and maneuverable. The 15t front sprocket and a fci intake is 2 of the best mods to do to them

I got my kfx450r a few months ago bone stock and I’ve been loving it, have done a few things to it but thanks for these tips mason going to try and get those 2 off the list now

What kind of handle bar you used on your raptor. I have a 2020 7000r se im trying to get a new handle bar
Congrats on the new 2020 Raptor man! I have the pro taper contour in the ATV mid bend. I’m about 5’10 and they seemed a little low at first but I got used to them. I’d say they’re half the height of the factory raptor bars. If your taller then me I would recommend the ATV highs or the Raptor bend. These are fat bars so you’ll need oversized bar clamps to mount them. I have both items linked in my parts list in the description. The handlebars linked are “ATV mids” so make sure you grab the right size. Hope this helps! 👍

How’s the raptor on gas like can you ride for a couple of Hours and still have a lot of gas like the Honda rancher
It will do at least 50 miles under hard riding conditions. I think under moderate riding it would push closer to 60-70 miles on a tank

How long can u ride with a full tank on the raptor
Id say minimum 50 miles of hard riding. I honestly think it could push 75 miles if your not wide open constantly. I’ve considered making a video to see how far it would run on one tank of gas

Best would be having both quads thus avoiding the almost impossible position of making THE decision. Heck, i'm feeling a little stressed out just contemplating it. At the moment I think my choice is the 700 but since I'm already dreaming, might go for the 450 if it had a 6th gear.
i feel like having the best all around quad would be a yfz450 a little expensive but 09 and up is best

@@e5m956 yes they are wider but it teaches you how to use your mind and think outside the box and use other little pathways if you don’t want to do that then just get a 2010+ yfz450x witch is basically the same quad just smaller a arms and smaller axle or you can just convert your normal wide yfz450r to a X buy just buying smaller A arms and axle, in my opinion the wider stance is better all the way around. i’ve owned both x and r and i like the wider stance.
The kfx isn't the best quad for wheelies, I've tried them and it won't pick up really easily

Izek Sanchez it depends on which YFZ. If it’s the older carb model YFZ I would rather have the KFX. If it’s the new fuel injected YFZ I would probably grab one of those instead due to the wider, more updated platform. Plus there’s better aftermarket opportunities with Yamaha/Honda. Most 450’s are a blank canvas and you can set them up however you like. With enough money put into them they can all be competitive machines.

My raptor has around 125 hours. I plan on getting a 450 after I finish building up Raptor. I’m in the process of lining up suspension right now

If you’re going to trail ride a 4:50 you have to change the sprockets otherwise first gear is way too long and second gear lugs too bad 450s are meant to go you need to be going around on a track if you don’t change the sprockets We really need to test these bikes over jumps that’s when you’ll see the real difference between a 450 and a 700 and 700 should be a lot smoother it has a steering damper on it
Kfx really wake up with mods tons of low end most end throttle response on any quad I road u can hang top gear and pull thru jus doesn’t have the top end or gd gear ratio for top speed but preferred race quad. I also had ltr modded and deff faster than kfx but not as much throttle response or low end and I end a 15t 36 rear sprocket on to kfx jus insane response

Daniel Vinyard thanks man! Id say it’s just been a lot of seat time over the years. I actually was worried the raptor would kinda feel like a tank but it’s easier to ride than I expected. I was super close to getting a 450 first but I knew I would primarily be trail riding and the Raptors reliability is very hard to beat

anonymous the KFX and the LTR are totally different 450’s. The LTR was much more MX and track focused. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Definitely not the same like the KFX/LTZ 400’s
My 700 will do 100 but if you’re going to trail ride change the sprockets it makes to years closer ratio you can do wheelies in any gear and you don’t need to pipe it piping is for mid range if you’re not somebody that goes 90 miles an hour change the sprockets don’t waste the money on a pipe
