Very good video. Love to see these less-travelled lines, as most youtube videos seem to focus on the glitzy intercity routes and trains.

What's your opinion about a possible future line between Amstetten and Pöchlarn, running through Waidhofen an der Ybbs, Gstadt, Lunz am See, Kienberg-Gaming and Scheibbs?

Would definitely be good to connect the two lines. 👍 I'm sure it would also have a positive impact on tourism in the area. Can't see it happening though. 😕

Really nice video. However, I would like to point out (at the cost of sounding like the devil's advocate) that the problem about the section beyond Scheibbs was less about transport policy and more about the fact that the line runs through a population desert (relatively speaking, when compared to the section between Scheibbs and Pochlarn). Keeping that section open would likely have dragged the whole branch down into closure, it was a case of sacrificing the little finger to keep the rest of the hand intact.

3:30 Wrong info. It was because of the ÖBB, they dident got enouth passengers on this part of the track and desidet to close it down. The lower austrian gouverment is actually pro puplic transport and often tries to buy closet trainlines to restart them. This is done with the NÖVOG Company.

Yes, you are right there. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. 😉

well mots of lines have been bought by lower Austria…
…and then they were closed down or only used for tourist purposes on occasional services. See the Thayatalbahn.
There is only the Citybahn Waidhofen and the Mariazellerbahn which are successfully run in a regular service by Lower Austrian Government. At least the Mariazellerbahn got some sort of Swiss feeling to me. But if you want to see more engaged public transport politics, you rather go to Upper Austria or Salzburg.

@@ex101jcYes, put it that way, he was correct in the sense of it originally being ÖBB's doing of closing down the line, but I also wouldn't say Lower Austria is "pro public transport", for the reasons you've described above.

@@TSFTransport And then you look at the bus service around Waldviertel and you realize „yeah they are more car-centric 😅“

Yeah lets close the line to Lunz am See. Just another "great" idea by the government. -.-

the 15 minute wait is not for train enthusiasts.
it's for people who enjoy a nice wieselburger.
(who thinks that this is food like a hamburger?)
I guess, I need to visit that line. klimaticket ole.
