- The Wild Hoard update gave Paladins a bunch of awesome new item strategies, but this has to be one of the coolest combinations yet! The new item Arcane Warding grants 36% damage reduction against abilities - and this includes Nyx's own royal presence! This item will give Nyx a massive boon to her damage reduction while using this ability - but it gets even better! This item double dips on itself when the enemies damage her royal presence with their own abilities, and the same is the case when you buy Armor Plating at the same time! When both items are maxed out, Nyx has 51% damage reduction versus weapon damage, and 59% damage reduction versus ability damage!

Interesting interaction. Damages came from different sources: enemy team and Royal Presence self damage so DR is applied twice, not stacking so there's no diminishing returns.

Ok, gotta admit, unlike previous gimmicks with old veteran on Lilith and Yag, that only work under ideal circumstances,, this looks like a really strong synergy and a truly promising build.
I hope they don’t remove this effect, if the wanna nerf Nyx they should be looking for other options like have extra DMG in a card (why’d they do that, who knows)
Edit: seeing her tankyness MAYBE it can be toned down but having it removed kinda ruins the fun
all it needs it some sort of diminishing returns
@@NexTDesigns it was just shown that there are Diminishing Returns. Maybe they can just modify it to make it “cap” at a certain point or they can modify it by making the returns harsher
Yeeeea i doubt they would go that far to perserve this interaction. Imo they will either remove it or nerf the ability in a different way
@@mikehawk1856the diminishing returns are as normal. Here though, the DR applies twice, so 20% DR effectively gives 36% since 0.8x0.8=0.64. Diminishing returns in the traditional sense it’s known for will only apply if you get DR from other sources such as cards or IO as of now, so an adjustment to it wouldn’t do much unless something very specific to Nyx is done
How to nerf nyx
1. Reduce dmg from abilities
2. Reduce aoe
3. Decrease ult charge gain from poison
4. Reduce max HP
These would be the soft changes to make without fucking her character
This also used to work with old haven.
Also its currently bugged so if you buy both Arcane Warding and Armor Plating you get delt more dmg than if you just had one or the other
EDIT: if you want to test these, the shooting range is way more convenient than custom games since theres cassie bots
I have been playing arcane warding since your item video; the only way to play her now. Sometimes rush this with (old haven) also; and the chronos...so many options, but def need the arcane warding. Noice!

It has Diminishing returns, Nyx just happens to apply the dr twice

Rei ult is just uncauterized heal
Rei's ultimate provides 75% of the target's maximum life as true healing - meaning it's unaffected by anti-healing. Nyx has a lot of health, which means Rei does a lot of healing!

they probably tone down this interaction... But definitely they should grant something like that to Yag, giant monstrosity should wield this kind of power while planted.

I still don't know why people don't stack AP and AW more often. It's been working just fine for me, plus it's cheaper than AP+Vet. Is there some diminishing returns I'm not seeing or smth like that?
Veteran helps with all sources of DMG for being a health buff, arcane warding only helps for abilitys ( not weapon attack based ones) but most consistently to ultimates, most of the damage Ultimates are not weapon based attack's
AP+Vet allows for more effective health vs characters that only deal dmg with weapon shots like evie, I personally believe most dmg comes from weapons and not abilities. some characters are a different story tho. Simply depends on the matchups you're up against
@@matheusmartinhogalvani1716 i know, I'm talking about *combining* Armor Plating (DR for weapons) with Arcane Warding (DR for abilities). So you get tons of damage reduction for both sources.
@@HupsoniX don't think it is useful for most of the cast (I can only think of nyx royal presence,vs hurl dredge, Betty and if you are playing on ice mines viktor) even if a champion uses a lot of abilities most of the DMG comes from the main weapon, so is kinda a wasted slot, good thing tough that I don't think it is affected by diminishing returns since you are applying the dr to different sources of damage, not one like the old haven and dr cards relation
Effective health is always more important in any game. Health over DR.

The DR is substantially higher but functionally I think it's the same.
No it is not, andrew is getting overwhelmed by numbers but it really isn't as broken as he says, it is strong but not broken just like last patch
They removed haven and made 2 new items of the old haven, old haven had weapon and abilities reducing but they made weapon reducing a own new item and ability reducing a own new item

was hoard 3 really worth it? i feel like you didnt need the 3 items maxed out, might have been just as effective/more effective to get veteran 2, chronos 3, arcane warding 2, and armor plating 2. would be interested in seeing a video talking about this and why you feel it's better to get hoard.
your team averaged about 5k credits so we can pretend you ended the game with 5k credits
chronos 3 would be 1800
vet 2 would be 825
armor plating 2 would be 825
arcane warding 2 would 750
which puts you at 4200 credits,
you could still buy arcane warding 3 if you had another 750 credits before the end of the game.
the math is a bit confusing but it seems veteran 2 and armor plating 2 would still give more effective health than armor plating 3 alone. not only that but veteran and arcane warding would work together to create more effective health too
I'm just still on the fence about hoard being truly a viable item, it seems it doesn't provide enough value to me without a fifth item slot
you shouldnt buy armour plating actually, as for some reason the coding makes both DR's count together so diminishing returns procs. Diminishing returns procs from the highest first so while you get the full boost of arcane warding ur armour plating is severly reduced and isnt worth buying

it's only nyx who as it, maybe yag with a specific talent. he even said "as nyx" when he said it
Nyx has a passive where she receives increased healing the closer she is to the objective/payload, up to 20%. This will affect her even if she's near the point but not directly in the zone.

unrelated but i think they should buff zhin guillotine back to the original value of 120% max health damage, because now, no matter how he hard he shouts he can't kill anyone with his ult. it used to be shout to win or press E to win but now it's just shout to do absolutely nothing and die because the enemy team heard the shout and they focused you.
it also definitely doesn't help that his ult can't apply cauterize so just one healing tick is enough to bail them out.
there's way too much health and damage reduction in the game rn for zhin's ult to be this weak.
im honestly using the ult for vertical movement at this point.

still..this is only her survive ability which they increased the cd before for 3 sec and if ur support is dead..she easily can be killed...nothing is broken here
