Yeah. The minute I saw this episode I made the connection. Unfortunately I went through something similar for several months. I used this episode to help those around me understand anxiety and panic attacks better
@@BB-nm6oz Glad you made it through that. Your mental health is very important and if you are feeling like that again you should always talk to a friend or a family member. Stay healthy
@@moustafaabousalem1411 thank you so much. I'm lucky to have the family i do. They didn't know too much about anxiety and panic disorders, but we're willing to learn.
In Season 1, I think the most telling part about Subaru's old life was when he was having that long emotional talk with Rem and he says "You know what I did before all this? Nothing." and starts going off on himself for being lazy and prideful. He was talking about that low place he was at right before he teleported into the fantasy world: a shut-in who wasn't doing anything with his life and hadn't done anything with it prior.
I always break in tears with “Take Care” A mother would be always there, even if you are mad or in a distance, having a “Take Care” the last words you heard from your mother and the last time you see her..
In a Q and A with the author of Re:Zero, he said this: "Q: Now that their eldest son Subaru has been summoned to another world, what’s the situation in the Natsuki household? They seem like a couple that it wouldn’t be too surprising if they chased after him to the other world. A: They’re enduring the disappearance of their eldest son somehow or other. The police investigation has no leads, and Kenichi is trying to comfort Naoko but it’s not that effective. They’re passing each day tearfully."
What's more sadder is the fact that if Subaru wasn't isekaid. His father would've help him with his issue. Atleast snapping him out from being a neet, and marry a girl that is just like Rem
Those flashes Subaru kept having is a perfect representation of how having a panic attack feels. It’s nothing physical but it hurts, it’s scary, it makes you want to run. He had them every time the thought of going back to school came up. And he even said the feeling usually lessens once it becomes too late to go, so he’s had them before. This episode explains so much of his actions in season one, from his extreme pride, to his erratic actions, to his need to posture and charm people, to his need be told there is nothing he can do when stuck. It also shows how great his parents are. It’s a shame that living in the shadow of his dad gave him a complex to the point that he took complements as negative and thought he could never be good enough. Thankfully the support of his friends has gotten him past that. And it has occurred to me how similar Rem is to him. Living in the shadow of her sister gave her a complex to the point that she took all compliments negatively and felt she was never good enough until at her darkest moment, Subaru helped her past that. Then when Subaru was at his, she helped him past his. It’s no wonder that began to work so well together, they understand each other. This story was so sweet, and a little sad.
When Subaru gets those moments of pain where he grabs his heart or his head its not from the trial or him trying to remember, hes having anxiety and panic attacks for skipping school. The reason he looked at the clock and said it usually goes away after 8 is because that's when school started and he knew that he wouldn't be going after it started. I think that's a really relatable feeling to a lot of people though too where you stare at the clock and once its finally past the point of no return, you feel relief because you know that there is no way you can go now. Also I'm pretty sure the "eldest son" line was hinting that the mother was pregnant, hence the reason she was having those weird cravings like the mayonnaise.
Nah the natsuki household are just lovers of mayo like in the web novel Subaru has 777 bottles of used mayo containers or something close to that and I remember reading something about that line of elder son just beening a reference to his status as only child but I'm not sure where I read it
DUDE! My name is also Nicholas. Also, I said in the same form in the same context of what you posted in my post other than both of our reasons for mayonnaise is different. I promise I didn't read it before.
@@N.Cabello I cant possibly even begin to understand what your talking about or what you mean...and no matter how much you explain, I will never agree. So, seems to me you are just plain wrong, Re:Zero is some damn good writing.
When I watched this ep it gave me tears man. 1. Seeing a father and son have an emotional talk 1 on 1 and realising I've never had that and will never have that hurt. 2 relating to how Subaru was kind of depressed and had anxiety. And 3. Subaru feeling like he failed/hasn't done enough for his parents and remembering the last time his mum spoke to him. This episode was entirely unexpected for me and hit me hard. Glad you 2 enjoyed it.
after subaru leave, his parents was depressed and searching for him endlessly. also, subaru's mom not like rem, she more like emilia. innocent, lovely mommies vibe, smooth voice and mommy's accent.
This was much needed backstory for what is quickly becoming one of my fav protagonists and anime. Love this episode. Love the reaction. And props for keeping the thirst in check lol. I could see you're both struggling. Also, Does anyone know the name of the song when Subaru and his dad are talking on the bench?
Called Out by Your Voice (first part of the bench scene) Looking for the Light (when Subaru was explaining his backstory) Longing for Sunbeams (when Subaru was crying and hugging his dad)
“I thought this was gonna be a happy episode” You’d think after getting this far they’d know better than to think that things can stay happy in this show
Subaru needs to give himself more credit for how far he's come 😤. Also, since I first saw this episode, I just keep thinking screw all the other characters and let him see his parents again.
FUN FACT the insinuation is that his mother had weird eating habits cause she was pregnant. This was alluded to her wanting mayonnaise and his dad saying oldest son.
I thought the entire family has a mayonnaise obsession lol. Apparently his parents have bottles in the thousands each. I think Subaru has them in the 100s though. My numbers are probably way off btw, just remember they were insanely high.
This episode is amazing and incredibly sad suburu gets to face his past and see how he grown and he gets to apologize and air things out with his dad and he gets to use his new found courage to get over his not wanting to go to school and finally he gets to say the goodbye to his mom that he didn’t feel he deserved last time and it’s beautiful in perfect until you realize he’ll never actually get to do those things and his parents who loved him so much are now going to be searching for him for the rest of their lives with no closure not knowing if he’s dead or alive... fuck
I'm fine with peas now but when I was young I HATED them. When I was in 1st grade I thought I would try some and took a bite and that's all she wrote! A classmate had to go get an adult because she thought I was choking. Actually I just wouldn't swallow or spit the peas out because I was so afraid of puking. I knew either way I was going to vomit so I just sat there with them in my mouth! 🤷♂️😂🤣
