@@deliriumbee4678 The williams was far superior to the 96 ferrari. Schumacher showed his skills in 96 monaco qualifying, beating Hill for pole by half a second. An insane marging with such underdog of a car
This is the Indy 505 , not 500 . The Goodyear fans have it totally wrong . If neither driver had uncured that penalty . Jacques would have won the race 2 laps ago . In other words Scott would have finished 2 laps down . End the butt-hurt now , please.
I miss the Villeneuve name in racing. Die hard Jacques fan, but an even DIEHARDER Gilles fan. Racing isn't the same without them. My HERO, My IDOL, My GILLES! Salut GILLES!
I don't know; the same driver everyone shits on even though he beat Schumacher after he tried to take Villeneuve out in '97. He is so crazily talented; truly an under-appreciated driver- just like his father (who is known to many, but few truly respect his greatness and would've 'easily' taken a couple/few championships away from Prost/Senna). Overall an under-appreciated family is what I'm trying to say lmao.
''Back from 2 laps down'' That's where you can tell when someone is capable of going for F1 or not. Sorry, but F1 drivers just aren't the same breed as Indycar or Nascar drivers. They're in a league of their own.
It was ironic how Jacques Villeneuve won the Indy 500 on Goodyear Tires especially when they sucked for Penske if Penske used Firestone they would of been in
he was not robbed, he screamed past the pace car. Do you think race officials missed something? USAC was VERY picky about race details and would never rob anyone of anything, they were the best ever.
Pace car was still in turn 4 and didnt even cross the white line on the straight that technically means it was still on the race track. And you can not pass the pace car whilst its still on the race track. Even the reaction of commentators sums it up. He flew 2ft by it...
He actually finished 5 miles ahead of everyone. He lapped everyone twice, probably the greatest racing achievement.
Damn, Villeneuve truly is an amazing driver. Two laps down, and he comes back to win it, that's proper skill right there.
he was amazing, how did he do it, it was unbelievable.
The 1997 Formula 1 world champion
2 laps down and races to win at the 500! Just an incredible job of driving! I taped it in 95 and had to watch it twice to believe it really happened.
Great job by Villeneuve , he win one of the top 3 hardest race to win the world .
So many great Canadians wore the blue and white ... Paul, Alex, Pat, Jacque ... and RIP Greg.
That's because Players (a Canadian cigarette brand) sponsored Canadian drivers at that time...
Beat Schumacher at his own game in 97. 🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️
He beated him in 96 too in his rookie year LOL
The ferrari was a disaster only Schumacher made it look better than it was.
I cannot see the challenge in this race.

derek crymble 505 has a nice ring to it
Villneuve might be one of the few athletes who lived up to the names of their father. A lot of kids of legends end up failing due to too much pressure
@islaptyadadsbootyyeah that's why I said one of
His career is better than his father and he surpassed it. Truly lived up to his dads name
The 90s were a great era in indycar
Luyendyk racing that close to the leader with 2 laps to go is such a dick move.

well Jacques has 4 sons, so it's a big chance we will see the Villeneuve name in motosport again

Charles-Antoine Martel-Roy I don’t think you understand Indycar. This can happen and it happens a lot.
Charles-Antoine Martel-Roy Also he raced in Indycar before he went to F1 you moron
he was mediocre in F1, he lucked out getting a seat in the best car on the grid.
when he was in midfield cars he wasnt impressive..
Charles-Antoine Martel-Roy You can’t compare them, the racing is so different in each series.
He’s not considered a good F1 driver lol
n. 27, the number
Villanew?? lol
Jake Villanew
This was my first Indy 500 in person. Great race. Still feel for Goodyear though, Even though a Ford won and I am a Ford fan....
What a driver!
I loved those IndyCar engines as a kid
It was a W for Canada either way. But your heart has to break for Scott Goodyear.
340 kmh power brake...bo électronique 😮😮😮
The last winner of a real Indy 500 in 1995, not the boring IRL that we have today.
Schumacher dead ..after 259 miles 😂😂😂
Goodyear may not have got the win but he still crossed the line 1st.
Jacques Jacques 😮😮😮 Verstappen 😂😂😂
Villeneuve...come back to Indy.....PLEASE!!

Ha ha. Good one.
Villeneuve was fast that day but Scott Goodyear was robbed, not once but twice of the Indy 500. Shame shame on the judges.
Nope
HUH, did you not see the replay of him screaming past the corvette pace car? It's the only time a corvette got passed in the history of the car.
Who's Jacques Vilnev ?
1997 Formula 1 world champion and son of one of the greatest drivers known to man
@@megaroz9091 Second to Senna. I personally asked this to Jacques at a fan meet in Montreal. He said don't compare me to Senna.
if u think hes good u have no idea some of the talent in f1, rubens barrichello would beat villeneuve
Alex H true , and sato
No way..jacques rules
out of all the drivers in the history of modern f1, you picked rubens barrichello...
Alex H that’s why Villeneuve is a world champion and Barrichello isnt🤭
What are you taking about...
