Have a 2011 with the 3.7 couldn't be happier. Put 60 miles on it a day to get to work, 1 tank lasts about 2 weeks when you baby it, and will easily move almost 2k of produce on hobby farm duty.
Considering the teething issues the coyote and ecoboost had at that time the 3.7 probably held up the best

I have an old fleet F150 with the 3.7 engine, single cab, and 8ft bed. It was half the price of the next cheapest truck on the lot, and had half the miles, but they had trouble selling it because it had some scratches, it was a "weird color", and it didn't have any of the infotainment stuff or power windows/locks. It doesn't even have carpet. It's been the most dependable truck I've ever had. Towing is no problem for it, but the engine spins up a lot faster than what I'm used to for a truck. It grumbles like a 300 I-6 until you step on it, then it howls like a Ferrari. I've never once thought the truck was too slow, but the motor really likes to spin.

I bought my old work truck. 2012 3.7 F150, for cheap. My work had owned it from about 150k. Beat on it like a bad dog. It got oil changed every 5k, had a few issues with brakes and the rear end. But it never had the engine touched outside of oil changes and 1 set of spark plugs. It’s at 320k, and runs like a clock.

I test-drove a 3.7NA in 2013. It was torquey as all get-out. I was very surprised that a V6 felt that way in a full-size truck. Ultimately went with the 3.5 EB due to my towing needs, but the 3.7 NA was surprising.

Have you had any experience with the transmission not syncing correctly? I have a 2012 F150 3.7, and the transmission jerks when shifting, especially when merging onto the freeway. Also at cruising speeds, 65-70mph, and it randomly decides to do some type of transmission kick. Took it to dealer and they replaced some syncing sensor but it continues to do it. Any advice on this?

2016 Lincoln MKX with the 3.7. I bought it new and have 114k on it. No problems with the motor, although I myself, replaced the spark plugs/coolant system flush. It really was not too bad removing the intake manifold. I am very slow when it comes to working on my cars, so that took me two days in between work lol. I have a tendency to be rebellious, so I installed NGK Ruthenium plugs. They seem fine. Front seal to the motor might be seeping a bit of oil, not enough to produce a drip. So I am watching that. Still original brakes, time to change those out soon. My Falken G4 tires, I got almost 70k miles out of those. New tires being installed tomorrow.

I have 225K on my 2014 F150 3.7 liter and it has been great . Regular Mobil 1 oil changes and all other fluids regularly. Runs as strong as new . Really good luck with Bosch Quietcast rotors up front . K&N cold air intake sounds like NASCAR on heavy acceleration. Changed rear diff to Ford racing 4:10 from stock 3:73 which cured sluggishness at 45 -50 mph on hilly roads. Ford Tech told me to use 75W-90 instead of 85W-140 to extend pinion gear life but at 167K on original were no issues . Other than normal wear items like water pump and recently alternator brushes it has been reliable . Have towed 6000 pound trailer with no issues and was prewired for trailer brake system so easy install. I believe I can get another 100K or more miles on the motor and transmission . All steel body , too .

Just be careful on 3.5s and 3.7s set up for front wheel drive. On the FWD and AWD models, the water pump is internal and is the main reason most of them fail when the coolant leaks into the oil pan from a bad water pump. If it's RWD or 4wd, the water pump is external, and they run forever. 1/2 million miles or more. If you have the FWD or AWD model, have the pump changed every 150k to 200k miles. If you go over 200k, you're playing with fire. The 3.0 liter is also a feat of engineering, and I personally love them.

Up here in Nova Scotia Canada its the std engine choice in most F150 platforms.A great, reliable, fuel efficient engine, but the most common complaint is the lack of power when towing, especially in hilly territory. And we have plenty of 6% + grades here than seem to go on forever. Otherwise great engine!
