Actually it was Eratosthenes (in 500 BC) that mathematically proved that the Earth was spherical. He was also able to determine it's circumference to a few hundred kilometers.

I'm a black ex-marine from Detroit who has been to Australia. The stars in the southern hemisphere are different from those in the north. Heard a flat earth tuber declare the moon was 50 miles from his position. I suggested that by driving toward it, it should end up directly overhead.

That was a brilliant and practical response, Marine.
Trigonometry. Measuring an arc. Determining the length of the hypotenuse or the other sides of a triangle. All skills used for many centuries to determine the distance, positioning, etc. of a "heavenly" (i.e. astronomical) body, to determine our own locations, etc. All these things sound technical and hard to understand, but it equates to us being able to do what the Marine here suggested - proving or disproving a hypothesis such as "the moon is 50 miles above my head" theough real-world application (moving your relative position and determining if the resulting observed change supports or contradicts your hypothesis). Great example.

I lived in the Caribbean for 5 years on a slope where all you could see as far as the eye can see from horizon to horizon was ocean. 1500 ft up. I got used to seeing that curvature as part of my normal view. Got used to seeing the Milky Way and the edge of southern hemisphere star patterns. Got used to seeing the moon patterns move from top to bottom. Never once saw an ice wall...

Aristarchus of Samos (Greek 310 B.C.E - 250 B.C.E) Was first in the western world to establish that the Sun in the center of the solar system. Nicolaus Copernicus credited Aristarchus in his treatise, "De rovolutionibus". Aristarchus was the first to calculate the diameter of the earth and the moon. The earth is an oblate spheroid (flater on the poles than at the equator) so his calculation was most accurate circumpolar. This information lost in the west until the era of Copernicus and Galileo in the middle ages.

My whole thought on altering the world is flat is to divide people from the truth. The Holy books e.g. the Bible clearly states the world to be flat and enclosed, to divide people from the truth to believe them instead will be advantageous for controlling the large portion of people in the world. It'll be easier for them when there is division, they can easily pass anything they want with less opposition.

The guy with the girlfriend that keeps asking if he is gay, gave me a serious vibe of "im searching for a reason to break up with you,and this is all i got, because you seem flawless" 🤔 My grandpa met my grandma at barely some twenty years of age. She has been naging at him for years, and he just let her because he loved her. And he took "to death do us apart" very serious and literally. The whole marriage he served by to perfection. And they only got separated by lethal sickness in theyr 70s. She even had another persons kid at the time, and back then you were looked upon as the worst kind of female if you carried a baby around without marriage. He adopted this child and loved it as his own his entire life. That daughter was my mom. He went through some rough crappy tests to be able to fully take on the parenting role for her. What happened? Today barely any couple is able to celebrate a silver, gold or diamond wedding. Couples had a difficult time back then too, they fought and drove eachother nuts at times, but they always found a way to solve it. My grandpa knew that she would not make it without him either, she was petrified of losing him and be alone. Theyr weakness was being able to talk things through. Today couples talk about everything,so why are the divorce rates at an alltime high? It blows my mind🤔

i was US Navy and Bill is Right On! Now, the flat Earther's are saying they aren't saying that the Earth is flat, but Frisbee shape, but the Earth's rotation would be fucked up and traveling in air or ocean would be very difficult. I think people lost the ability to communicate and argue in dialogue w/o taking offense. If you have an argument prove your point with absolute knowledge not opinion. Everyone has an opinion like say chocolate ice cream versus vanilla ice cream. The one screaming that Bill is calling out are those just using self opinion to be just heard and they cannot be wrong and can't accept they could be wrong. Most legendary Scientist at one time had to admit they were wrong including Einstein. The "Left Woke" know they're wrong, but demand you accept their being wrong to be right so they're "feelings" don't get hurt. So, now we're sucking up to their "hurt" feelings and you really don't have to say anything hurtful. This is sad in society.

The most incredible thing is that (despite have already being doing this for thousands of years) René Descartes back in the 15th/16th Century actually devised an entire natural language to link Math and Geometry and later in the 16th/17th Century another incredible genius (Gaspard Monge) actually set the rules and gave the visual templates to describe and turn speech into full fledged Universal Geometry translation and conversion from 1D, to 2D to 3D no matter the creed, sex or color!... (4D is always implied and can even be integrated as part of the process nowadays)... and somehow, some to this day people still believe the Earth is actually flat! It is shocking tbh.

I was sailing a wealthy man’s catamaran down the Northern coast of NZ and some many miles North of our destination I pointed out a particular set of land features that looked like several separated islands. I told the rather arrogant wealthy man that those several features were actually the one cape that we were headed to. Now, it happened that down towards that destination there are another set of islands…. The wealthy man told me with absolute incredulous insistence that we were seeing the islands that were actually in that direction but too far away to see.
I told him it was a trick of the curvature of the earth that was creating the effect…..
He scoffed about my assertion as if I was an imbecile.
I had the great pleasure of sitting with him at the helm while he, over five hours had to watch the “islands” all join together and become the exact destination I had told him it was…. Yep, I explained to him, the Earth is that small and that round.
I’m going to say that I think many flat earth earthers are just contrarian in nature that have found their obsessive space. Bill suggests that, I’m surprised that Bill bothers because the conversation just isn’t worth the heartbeats.

I was really amazed when I saw People trying to explain to Shaw that the Earth was round, not flat, and he was having trouble accepting their word for it. It was like he wanted them to prove it to him. When asked how some people can sail a boat all the way around the world or fly a plane all the way around the world. He said that the flat earth theory means that when you get to the edge of the world you are somehow transported to the other side of the world. He said, “it’s the flat earth effect that makes it seem continuous.” it’s like the flat-earthers believe in magic. there’s no way to explain it to them.

The big tobacco companies got in trouble, so they bought out the big food companies and paid the same guys who made cigarettes addictive to make food just as addictive. We need to be aware and to raise awareness of this attack on the American people. RFK Jr. is not a conspiracy theorist he has been researching this for decades. Metal illness runs in my friends and family. I wont turn anyone away because of rambling thoughts. With metal illness there is a fine line between listening politely and buying into other peoples delusions. Yesterday I sat in my own living room and listened to a fabrication that included me and actions that I supposedly did (that never happened) about an event where both her sisters died on the same day at the same hospital. My mother and I offered to go get her and bring her to the ER with us. She didnt go. So how would she know the events that happened in a exam room behind a closed door. again she wasnt there.
Yes long range navigation includes a great arc. Look at a globe display. If you travel north and turn back south the globe gets physically smaller unless you are in the southern hemisphere so the solution goes the other way.

Every time my wife and I have a kid all I want is our kid to be healthy, nothing wrong with them, and I always hope for red hair. My wife is a natural redhead and I'm dark dark dark brown hair, almost black. It was the first thing that attracted me to her. I love redheads!!!! They're the most attractive.

The Problem isn't everyone having an opinion, the problem is people thinking others are not allowed their opinion.

I disagree. I think the problem is that most people think that the right to have an opinion automatically qualifies their opinion as good and smart. It doesn't.

Food addiction absolutely is a thing. It’s something I struggle with myself. Luckily I’m not 600 pounds and I carry my weight pretty well. I do fit the definition of obese, though, and have for over half my life now. A couple times I’ve been able to get on a regimen of proper diet and exercise that allowed me to lose weight. The last time was a year and a half ago, when I lost 45 pounds over a 6 month period. I’ve just never been able to stick with it and always end up gaining the weight back. Deep down I know that it’s a willpower issue and I have nothing to blame but myself. I don’t think people who haven’t dealt with it understand how hard it is, though.

My understanding is that, while not everything is chemically addictive, you can get mentally addicted to pretty much anything... I mean, there's probably chemical stuff going on, but it's like dopamine released in response to whatever stimuli etc., not necessarily directly from what you ingest or whatever... Although maybe some foods have chemically addictive properties too... Like Caffeine maybe... But yeah, you can get addicted to all sorts of crazy stuff.

Sometimes you can't find the willpower. Sometimes you just can't move yourself and you're left confused as to why you have no control. Go against the odds. Do what feels impossible. Please become who you really want to be. I hope you find control over your reality.

That guy needs to break up with his girlfriend. You are right, she doesn't see any future with him.
Maybe she's cheating and is trying to get him to break up with her?
Or she wants to break up and doesn't want to be the bad guy?
Whatever is happening, there's trauma somewhere in her life.
The obese guy - I totally understand.
I'm obese, I have been all my life. I have suicidal ideation, which is like having the thought of suicide in the back of your head at all times. You're afraid of doing it but you wish it would happen. He definitely has it. I'm sure he was bullied at a very young age. I was bullied from 3rd grade up until I left school. ANYHOW, I hope that guy gets therapy.
Flat earthers - You can't reason with them. Bill is spot on. How is every pilot and flight crew in on this? Every country? 😆

I have 2 absolute proofs that the Earth is not flat. Apparently no flat-earthers ever thought about this. 1) I've stood on a beach and watched tall ships sail away. They don't simply shrink away. They get smaller, but they also get shorter until the top sinks below the horizon. That's because it's traveling on a sphere. 2) If the Earth were flat, you could ride in an airplane at 30,000 feet and see every city on the planet with a telescope. But you can't.
