48 year old guy that is to busy and to tired to chase the scene. My musical tastes drag me all over the place. The Devil Makes Three ultimately led me to find this act yesterday, and it haunts me. I'm feeling an odd connection through his music, and I quietly mourn the loss of this terribly creative artist. My condolences to his equally talented partner.
Despite not being a real folk music fan, I'm going to call this the best folk duo of recent time. When a band sounds as good live as they do in studio recordings the talent is apparent. Dave lives on
Jeremy LaValley except for with a connection of repulsiveness when I heard another legacy destroyer album from The Rolling Stones and knew it wasn't gonna be a good sign when they all had multicoloured suits with shoulder pads on and I just looked it up and it's called Dirty Work!! It's painful when it's the same band that recorded jumpin jack flash, sympathy for the devil and such like!! Still love them guys but just kick back and only release stuff when its worthy not just for the sake of filling up an album
Brown Bird opened for The Devil Makes Three in a small bar venue in Denver several years ago. I was blown away and bought their cd - it didn't leave the player in my truck with over 6 months of almost continual playing. There have only been a handful of albums like that in my life so far. I was really hoping that Dave would make a recovery. My condolences to MorganEve and his family and friends - he will be sorely missed.
Oh man, that would be a SICK concert. I saw DMT a few years ago and it was an amazing show. I wish I could have seen Brown Bird before David died. RIP.
Thanks for sharing! Co Native. Wasn’t blessed enough to catch that show, but Devil I have seen 🤘 They opened for Social D. Guess which band owned that show loll. Stoked for anyone that got to see Brown live🎉😮
Old post, but I was just listening to a recent interview with Pete Bernhard of the Devil Makes Three. He was talking about how DMT and Brown Bird are/were really good friends and they had a stretch where they toured together all the time that it got to the point they had to decide NOT to tour together. Miss this band tons, so glad they have an amazing discography to comb through for the rest of my years.
The perfect duo. Be in peace David, you knew with the songs you sang that your time was running low. Alas you were a talented guy with a soothing voice. I wish the leukemia was never a part of you.
0:44 Fingers to the Bone 4:14 Thunder & Lightning 7:49 Blood of Angels 11:15 Down to the River 13:55 Muck And Mire 17:51 Bilgewater 21:44 Cast No Shadow
Truly masterful artwork! Brown Bird, music's best kept secret. May Dave Lamb's spirit inspire like minded artists forever! Brown Bird has sure as hell inspired this one! Thanks for your beautiful contribution, Morganeve and the late, great Dave Lamb. You've made some of history's best music.
Love their music endlessly, what an inspiration. My respect for this great duo, and my condolences to the loss. A part of me is saddened that I won’t get to ever see the man himself perform. R.I.P Dave Lamb, a part of you will always live on through the music.
This is probably one of the best musical videos on UA-cam and by far the best showcase of Brown Birds great live performance and songwriting in a single video that I could find. So sad that I will never be able to see them myself. I'll drink my next beer in memoriam. Thanks for your heritage, Dave.
I have been listening to this band for 1 year, maybe 2. And just today I had the great idea to find who actually sung this songs, who made this melodies that spoke to me not only by the style, the melody or the lyrcis, they represent diferent states of my life. And today I found he died. And I will mourn him as if he was my brother, for he means that much to me. I will always lament that I didn't listen to him in time, that I would never show him how much his music means to me, or how much he has helped me through the years.
Brown Bird has changed my life and inspired me so much. I love every single song they have done. To this day I still shed a tear over the loss of such a legendary artist as David.
this in my opinion, is their best recorded session. i even prefer this video over the Studio quality of songs on spotify. the assortment of songs is also all of my favorites. sound is perfectly balanced.
I just discovered Brown Bird today. This is beautiful. I wish I heard them sooner. RIP Dave. You were truly a gift to music and brought a uniqueness to my collection of music from blues to death metal. Thank you, as long as the universe exists your soul will play through every wave of energy produced by your music.
God damn, David really was giving his all in this performance. You can easily tell by the amount of sweat that dripped from his face onto his guitar by the end of the performance.
I listen to all kinds of music almost religiously ... I have always had rhythm and rhyme in my blood and as of yesterday .... I found my muse, I already learned finger to the bone hahA stayed up all night learning it! Rip Dave lamb
This is the most underrated musical artist of our time. How sad that he could not get the life-saving treatment on time that would otherwise have kept him creating this wonderful unique music.
THIS I found at the perfect time in my life. I realized I saw Brown Bird, Open for YMSB in Indianapolis. YEARS ago. So grateful for that. AMAZING. THANK YOU BOTH
watched this so many times. nearest to seeing them live possible. I cover down to the river occasionally and try and spread some brown bird around my little part of the UK. 😊
I've been meaning to revisit this video for a while, so grateful this recording exists. It's beautiful and I feel better today for having watched it again
This is hands down the most amazing... moving performance I have seen even over youtube I am blown away. I'm very saddened to hear about his passing. I just recently found out about these amazing artists.
Can watch or listen to it for hours and still can't get enough.Although i don't really like other bands playing in this genre, Brown Bird music is much deeper and above genres, one of the most brilliant discovery in a long time for me. Couldn't even help myself from expressing my sincere admiration and sadness that such extraordinary talanted artist wouldn't create anymore, it's a real tragedy. Second time in my memory i wrote smth here after few hundreds views couldn't hold it. Praise Dave for his immortal heritage
I missed this particular performance but have caught several of the "Dirt Floor Series" performances. The People with HawkHill Media do some amazing work capturing the moment too!
Power couple is a more common phrase, and that is what they were in their talent and ability to connect to their music! RIP David Lamb! Sad to know we will never hear a new song from this duo😥
Had tickets for Higher Ground where they were to perform along with the also awesome band: Devil Makes Three... Hearts broken couldn't make it from Montreal during the January snow storm. Hoping to see them eventually in Vermont or nearer by? Have not stopped listening to them since. Somebody please get these two on Letterman or cut them a genuine record deal. It's not right so much talent should go unnoticed!
Now this is some really nice music. You know I've added this to my favorites and will do the same with all forthcoming videos from Dirt Floor. Thanks, Eric, for sharing! Love it!!!!!
I missed this particular performance but have caught several of the "Dirt Floor Series" performances. The People with HawkHill Media do some amazing work capturing the moment too! And of course everyone knows Dirt Floor is the best place to cut some of your music, whether it's a demo, an EP, a full length or finishing an old project like I did twice. (Chiapaneca and Soffty Fasnfftof)
Can anyone tell me if he or his wife were aware of his illness when they began making music or did it hit and take him suddenly?? Either way the loss is very sad. Such beautiful music. I love the bass and lyrics most, it ALL feels so organic. Such a shame to lose a wonderful talent so quickly. Especially in today's day in age where watered down "artists" create deluted "music" with no heart or soul and it becomes the regular go-to for a brainwashed uncivilized culture, THIS IS REAL MUSIC. I will only pray/hope music in the future will make the transformation back into an actual, natural, unautotuned sound..or at the very least we have more tasteful options such as Brown Bird to give those of us stuck on "dad rock" some peace of mind throughout our days.

I found them in reverse!
Well said Kevin. I feel the same.
Despite not being a real folk music fan, I'm going to call this the best folk duo of recent time. When a band sounds as good live as they do in studio recordings the talent is apparent. Dave lives on
You can now lay in the morning sun Dave. RIP.
I've never had such a quick connection with music as this.... Historical
100%

Same. With the exception of The Devil Makes Three. Both are incredible groups

So jealous! Must have been an incredible evening!

True that! Every note and every word speaks to my soul!

I remember when he was diagnosed. Huge loss of talent.
