    holding Shift while dragging clips up or down with the mouse keeps them aligned where they are on the timeline too... I use this when moving clips in an interview timeline to ensure I'm not getting bits out of sync or leaving mini gaps

    Great video, thank you! I am new at Premiere Pro. How do I keep B-Roll attached to a specific video and audio section? I finished adding B-Roll and realized that I needed to razor cut some talking head video at the beginning of the timeline and so I cut, not realizing that it would move all of the B-Roll footage, so it no longer matches with the audio. Thanks.

    Thank you for nice tip. I used a lot to import PS multi layers files as sequences. each time I put it to timeline it has empty audio clip which I need to delete - boring to do it all the time. By default logic PS files are not supposed to have audio at all...Do you have any idea how get rid of this?

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  2 роки тому

      Look at the left side of the Timeline for V1 A1 blue buttons. Make sure you have no A1, A2, etc. selected (blue) before you drag in the Photoshop file. That's called Source Patching. When you import a Photoshop file as a Sequence, it will always have audio because it's a Sequence now and not an image.

    I have a lot of problem with this as newbie. If I want to move a clip a few minutes earlier or later in the timeline it’s tortuous, dragging it to the right spot. Is goes by slow fast to very slow. Im never able to get it where it want efficiently.

    I'm trying to move a grouping of clips that are several minutes down in the timeline to a point earlier in the timeline.There is blank space between clips of about 5 minutes. Isn't there a way of moving clips to a specific point in the timeline without dragging for 3 minutes or copying and pasting?

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  2 роки тому

      No, although Premiere Pro does have that command, there is no button or menu command to actually do it. But, you can use the amazing third-party extension Excalibur to do that and a whole lot more.

    Hi Colin First of all id like to say your tuition is second to none, explained so brilliantly, especially for someone like myself who is new to premier Pro. Years ago i used Avid and remember only ever having to need 1 or 2 video Tracks open because the selection tool was either red or yellow and if you chose yellow and inserted a clip from a bin say for example 34 seconds in the timeline (at a cut point) then it would slot right there and push all the other tracks forward without overwriting anything.
    This is something i was hoping premier pro would do ??

    I don't know how to ask this, or know what to call it, but, I'm trying to find out what causes the top part of a recording to appear to be rocking back and forth! It's weird! Everything even the trees, fences and people appear to be moving, while the bottom half is not! Why is that?

    Wow. I was just searching for how to do this with the mouse yesterday and assumed that holding Alt/option with the mouse would move things straight up and down. Nope. And yeah, if you have a transition in place it's really easy to move something "up" and shift it left or right by a few frames without noticing it.

  • @sandiflow
    @sandiflow 2 роки тому

    Many AE editors looking to move entire "layers" of clips up and down the timeline in Premiere will be disappointed. In Premiere "layers" are called "tracks" and to my knowledge there is no way of moving them like you can in Photoshop or After effects. (correct me if I'm wrong) You can only move the clips in the tracks up and down, therefore invading and replacing whatever was there first.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  2 роки тому

      Correct.

    • @yeknommonkey

      came here for this, annoyed to find out its fact. AE seems much more intuitive accross all other adobe apps (layers etc) and event with other programs like Final Cut in teh way if handles 'stuff' in the time line.

    You didn't specify what Alt-Option does in addition to just using the up or down key

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  2 роки тому

      I think I did. The arrow key does not move the clip, that's why you hold Alt or option.

    • @marcellalonde2793
      @marcellalonde2793 2 роки тому

      @@VideoRevealed No you didn't, it wasn't specified. There are key points to any help videos, and I am offering a suggestion, that those should be written in text. What we think we enunciate may not happen.
      I would also have amplified your message. Tell us how inserting a clip can be done and why it should not be used. As you stated at the beginning, when timelines get congested, inserting, destroys things rapidly.
      You are absolutely correct in instructing editors to ONLY use an overwrite, but tell us why. The tip to keep a copy at the beginning of a session is brilliant !
      By the way I am a huge ( paying ) fan !
