New Crankshaft Position Sensor from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ic/1AEC...
This video shows you how to install a new crankshaft position sensor on your 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The crankshaft position sensor is an important component of any electronically controlled ignition system. The sensor provides the computer with data about the position of the crank shaft to properly adjust ignition timing. If the sensor in your vehicle is broken or malfunctioning, you may suffer poor performance, or get a check engine light.
This repair was done on a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7L Sport Utility 4-Door AWD Automatic and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:
    1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 4.0 has an access panel through the driver floor board. Still a pain but not as much as this method.

Why did you replace the starter also? Was it bad or should you replace it in this case because it's such a pain to get to?

Do crankshaft position sensors have to be relearned by a shop doing it, or can it be relearned by way of regular driving?

+@terrellblue357 The crankshaft sensor should not need to be relearned depending on your vehicle information. You can find this information from your service manual.

a major pain in the D*** to get at, if saturated in oil it might not be sending the strongest signal. Same with the cam though a lesser extent.

Good LORD, is there ANY reason except they want to charge you an arm and a leg to replace it, that they needed to put that crank sensor so deep into your motor?? Smh doesn’t make sense for something that is normally easy to replace in any other car
