This is an awesome keyboard. I've listened to a lot of demos now and I think Yamaha finally got it right with the piano and drum sounds that sound so much better than the over prized Tyros. I remain a fan of the Clavinova CVP series, the piano sounds still seem to be slightly better than in the new Genos. However, with all the possibilities together in this machine, and finally having a joystick controller like we had in the 80s, this will be a best seller again for Yamaha, despite the fact that it's very expensive.

Really cool demo! I imagine such a difficult keyboard to do justice to over UA-cam. Reminds me when I bought the new iPhone salesman said you’ll b lucky to use 10% of it bfore the next model. But hey if you can afford it no problem. I think there’ll be many subtle improvements over Tyros but maybe a journey of discovery..

How does it compare to the Fantom 8??????????????????? for what it can do and its sounds. Never understand why Yamaha doesn't make a 88key version????
Maybe because they have their Clavinova high priced models 88key and don't want to out shine them at lower price.

E AÍ ME DEPARO COM ALGO QUE JAMAIS PODERIA COMPRAR, MAS NEM CO APOSENTADO E QUE AINDA NÃO SOU. É DIFICIL. SÓ POSSO VER E OUVIR. ISSO QUANDO TENHO INTERNET E POSSO USÁ-LA. Thanks for the tutorial. All Yamaha voices are excellent, only I don't like their acoustic drum sound. Almost sounds same as Tyros 5
Awsome stuff. BUT Question: how much of the sounds and the programming are REALLY "out of the box"??? I read comments that state that most of the demos with the genos are not really fakes but done with a lot of programming and sound editing. So these keys are really far far away from the genos production units. My good old Roland G 70 sounds somehow "better" for me in total. Any comments??

Sounds great. Except the orchestra and electric guitar. They don't sound close to vsti like Hollywood Strings, Shreddage 2, etc.
It would be nice if Yamaha made a portable module version of the Genos for musicians who travel a lot.

Wow, fantastic demo, very nice sounds and great playing! How does this compare with the Yamaha Montage or Korg Kronos? Is the sequencer on this very comprehensive? You programmed all those sequence songs, right? Was it hard? Or are these factory sequences? Does it have smooth program change transition? At 1:25 when you changed programs, i heard a very bad glitch, that would bother me a lot. On the Kronos, it's extremely smooth to change programs, is this a problem for you? It sounded pretty bad, sorry! But your demo is excellent! So please don't get me wrong. :)
Hello sir, I have a Genos myself and I enjoy it very much. I would like to learn more of technics so that I can apply it to my Genos at my gigs. I would like to learn more about recording, editing and looping to add more sounds
How about collosal voices like Chant or Choir Aah, Eeh, Ooh, something like that?
Did you play this before any updates because it sounds different and clear then as we update it

Looks like I will have to add one of these to my Kronos 2 88key and S970 maybe a Montage too.
I just wish they would say what speakers they are hooked up to. Sound like Martin Harris style of playing.

Awesome Performance! What camera do you use? To fix your audio visual sync issue, which I had similar issue with my Logitek C920e, On your broadcasting / video recording software, set a delay on your audio to 250 ms and see how it does. It should sort out your av delay. (also set the White Balance, Focus, Zoom etc to Manual, as the auto settings cause varied delays). Otherwise Great Video :)

It's very impressive but I can't fit a 76 note keyboard into the boot of my car for my gigs. It just has to be a 61 note. And my old Yamaha still sounds great anyway!

It sounds £1000 better than a Yamaha psr e 473 but definitely not £4000 better…
Yamaha will not sell too many with the stiff competition from the ketron Event and Korg arrangers.

Thanks for your comment. I can't see why not offering demos of both worlds. Some of the workstations like genos have a very vast synthesizer engine inside. Although we'll still be focussing more on "pure" synthesizers you'll find workstations as well once in a while. And after all, it's not a comparison, just a demo without talking ;)
So the same guys that build the Mt 07, R1, yz450f and boat engines also build this lol

I owned Tyros 5 for 3 months,then I sold it because it's really similar to Tyros 4 too.
Then buy genos for £3500
rather buy used tyros 4 or 5 + Korg Kronos.

Martin zachar Your English is fine but I was just saying you really can't compare the Tyros four to the Genos. I definitely agree that there are many similarities but more with the Tyros 5. The Tyros 4 is a great keyboard but the Tyros 5 will be better with newer sounds and more options including better DSPs and other enchantments. The Tyros 5 substatially dropped in price due to the Genos release so many people decided to purchase the 5. All great keyboards but the Genos is clearly better although it isn't worth it if the Tyros 4 or 5 provides your musical needs. However if all of these keyboards were offered free, I'm sure you'd go for the Genos. I say this with all due respect! :)

Hi’ to You’ - very good sound demo ,playing etc ,- “ Genos” sounds good ‘ pianos excellent , But high priced as, like most “boards” how much % have you got extra to what you already have = 15 to 20 % - ? , is it worth the change ‘ it’s up to you’ etc .cheers .

Tom schaffner it's funny over the last 20 years Yamaha has just been intergrating the DJX into their main PSRS/Tyros line, but all the snobs and rich people who turned their noses up at it don't realize they're being played.
