- The 2017 Suzuki Swift is good to drive, inexpensive to buy and in possession of a spunky but unassuming charm. The Suzuki Swift has always been the smart man’s hatchback, and this new third-gen car aims to take things to the next level.
On the surface it’s still obviously a Swift, though it now features a sleeker, smarter appearance, but it’s what lies beneath the bodyshell that’s the most interesting.
For a start, it’s built on Suzuki’s new light-but-strong underpinnings, it’s got plenty of modern kit inside and it now comes with a range of new powertrains, including the marvellous Boosterjet engine and even a mild hybrid version.

I didn't like this new swift when I first saw it but now is kind of growing on me.
Best looking Swift in a long time.
I drive many small cars but Suzuki Swift is the only one which give me the feeling "this is what I expected from a car of this class"
literally every car company: new cars- bigger, heavier, with higher price
suzuki: new swift -100+kg lighter, smaller outside, bigger inside, more fun, same price

Excellent ! Best small car on market ! Excellent engine , hybrid, economy, very comf. seats and so on ! Excellent design exterior/interior ! + optional 4WD ! Suzukis are very durable cars! I owned many years ago 1996 suzuki and I'm hard on the leg .
That's a nice looking motor!! I like Suzuki's and they are a different choice to the norm.

I like it. Much prefer the front end design on this new model compared to the cutesy smiley face of the old one. Interior looks the part too. I think they could have done a bit more with the rear styling and as always hidden rear door handles are in my opinion, pointless. Smart little car overall though, and look foward to see what they do with the Sport version.

To bad Suzuki is no longer around in north America I really enjoyed my swift I had from the 90's maybe just maybe they will be back in Canada we will have some suzuki cars kicking around here still. Bring them back SUZ!!

1:45 that is actually just a marketing bs. Almost every touchscreen in cars can be used with gloves, since they use the cheapest resistive touchscreens, which you need to physically press, so they feel very slow and laggy. Capacitive ones (that all of the modern phones have) respond even to the lightest touch, don't react to gloves, but feel incredibly responsive and look better.
It is a capacitive touchscreen. They probably use the same technologie to enabale the use of gloves that phone makers use when offering this functionality.
nope, capacitive screens that allow wearing gloves only have increased sensitivity (which can be a problem sometimes, so they even removed that feature on many phones ..yeah, samsung included) and even with that, it can not withstand more than one pair of gloves.
how hard do you have to press for them to react? (compared it with your cellphone)
I have both on my current Sportage and older Passat, both resistive, both work with gloves, simply because they require a physical press.
It actually makes a perfect sense, because resistive screens are NOT multitouch and capacitive are (just like your phone is, sometimes even over 10 points of touch) but rarely support gloves, while you can press resistive ones with any object (thousands of gloves, pen or whatnot) and it will react.
Love my 11years old Swift. Unfortunately i need a bigger car, but it was so much fun to drive, very reliable and if something had to be replaced, the parts were pretty cheap. Maybe i'll get the new SX4 S-cross, apparently it's fun to drive as well. Wish i could get the new Swift as a secondary car though :D

Will do! A local car media tested it and they said it's so much fun to drive for a crossover. Ever since Swift III and the first SX4 Suzuki is really nailing the price/performance ratio.
Maochan81 Thanks for heads up on the reliability, bored daft with the dead to drive Toyota's had in the past, jumped ship to Ford and so far reliable and fun fun fun 😆 but always had one eye on a Swift, next time may final take the plunge and get a one.

Super review Richard. Not sure about design of new nose, might take getting used to.
I like the design of the Swift. The new nose has a passing resemblance to the Jaguar F-Type - and that is a GOOD thing.

The last gen 2 door swift sport is a much better looker, or at least way more sporty. Always thought the swift sport was a cooler option that the super common mini.

the 3 or 5 door makes almost no difference with the gen before this one almost looks the same. I think the new Swift Sport will look even more agressive and sporty then the last one ! Gotta say i like them both alot, gen before this one and this the new one aswell
Rhymes The Key I'd beg to differ. the old 5 door and any small car in 5 door, just looks like an oap mobile.
Small cars, especially hatches, need to have 3 doors to look 'youthful and/or sporty' other wise they look like somthing your nan would like.

Our video guy is 6ft and found it OK back there. Wouldn't be the most comfortable for long journeys but definitely isn't the worse in class :)

The cheapest models of any car tend to look bland. I'm sure the new Swift Sport will look great.

What is the use? It has come by now, and it is of an inferior build quality as usual. Note: Suzuki makes somewhat poorly built cars (except for a few models) for India, because Indians don't demand high quality, only mileage.

shame they pulled out of the north american market while mitsubishi still lingers around like a bad smell.

I prefer the old swift. The interiors of the new swift is much better. But the exterior design is absolutely horrible.
