You need to watch yourself during this performance. You couldn't wipe the smile off your face the entire time.
Excellent to see you enjoy Ian like we have for so many years.

Hi Heline. Have you ever played the flute on one leg? Ian Anserson is a wonderful musician and a great artist.

No need to explain that you've reacted to Bourree already. I think it is important for you to see Ian in later performances to understand his evolution. I know you are interested in his technique and while we all love the early performances, since they are so raw and full of energy and 60's coolness, it is also nice to see Ian in a more refined setting, using a superior flute, exhibiting better mastery of the flute (after all the decades of playing) and yet still letting us hear his "sound" i.e., what he created - the 'flute in a rock setting" . I really love to see your enjoyment of watching his performances. It takes me back to when I first became a fan.

Heline, yes you're right, this is a different arrangement. It has evolved over the many years I've see Ian/Jethro Tull play. One of the most entertaining showman on stage. Thank you for this.

I was fortunate enough to see Ian and his band play the entirety of Thick as a Brick 1 and Thick as a Brick 2 back 10 years or so. Plus it was a smaller venue and I was in the front row! It was the one and only time I saw him, but it was definitely worth it! Great entertainer and great flutist!

I was lucky enough to go the the Broadsword show in Manchester. My friend I went with lived near Martin Barre and he took us to the aftershow drinks in a hotel in Piccadilly, great to meet and chat to Ian and the band. I still have the program with the signatures in.

"PRemiata forneria Marconi" litterally means "Prized Marconi bakery" which is the favorite bakery of one of the group member situated near Brescia (city near Garda lake in the north of Italy)

Definitely check out more of the thrice-great PFM. I saw them, along with ELP and 250,000 prog and otherwise fans at Charlotte Speedway in August of '74, and they were actually the best of all. I think they are still touring even. "Celebration" is one of their better songs. NicknLex, who also react to music and are real sweethearts, in more ways than one, also reacted to some great songs by PFM, but the titles elude me at the moment. Ian's "Thick as a Brick" is not to be missed either. New subscriber. Tusen takk!

Wishing you and yours well and hope someday to see your smiling face in person ! With Love, Fran Danco

Perhaps the reason his flute is taped at the joints is because he twirls it like a baton during his performance.

Ian has told the rest of us that around 30 years ago, when his daughter was learning to plays the flute, she told him that he played it all wrong, with the wrong fingers. And what did Ian do then? He re-learned howe to play the flute.Do that might be the difference you note between the two versions you have listened to.
Also, thanks for not sopping the video very five seconds as some doing similar videos to your do. It is quite annoying. Good job!
