We measure it so we can filter the measurements into the system, it then tells us what we have for those measurements. There’s nothing irregular about it. As for the new guy with your online order , there’s a process we have to follow. The manager is required for the return, again nothing irregular about it. There’s nothing wrong with your purchase other than you not receiving an email, but those can be delayed.

    • @courtneymarkin8982
      @courtneymarkin8982 2 місяці тому

He won't get the email until the order is physically pulled and processed . And yes all core returns must have a manager override bc basically not only is it a core return but it's also money going out . P.s just saying a parts store is still a store and not a ase certified garage there is technically no requirements for employees of any chain to have any vehicle knowledge to work at a parts store because before somebody is put on a register they have been behind a computer for multiple days and have had weeks of otj training

To be fair there is new people.. and as hard as it is dealing with them, they have to learn to. They will not pay good money for experienced people, so they hire people and train them

I agree, they pretty much run off most experienced parts guys out so that they don't have to pay for their knowledge.

He has some good points. The standard has lowered so much over 20 years. I was at a local store yesterday. Its hot and im buying parts . Would you believe 7 people in there and not one person to ring you up at the register. I left 80 dollars of merchandise right on the counter and walked out

Hey man, I’m sorry that you had a problem. I worked for O’Reilly for over 25 years and I try to give every customer the greatest service ever. I started auto parts and I was 15 years old back in the early 1980s and I’ve got a lot of knowledge I’m sorry you had that experience but O’Reilly was the best auto parts store there ever was.

Dang good but sad video lol. I’m 18 but yea I just started at Oreillys for a full-time job. I’m no mechanic for any means, but I figured why not give it a shot and work there to better my knowledge and understand how parts work and I’ve noticed that its definitely NOT like I thought it would be…anyway good video helped me be informed what not to say if I were in that situation.

One would have to be a completely entitled jerk to expect to go into a parts store on a Sunday and expect to find anyone but inexperienced counter people trying to earn a paycheck. Foolish to think your going to get super service and 50 years of automotive knowledge from some kid making minimum wage, or just above. But, of course, by all means, take your automotive struggles and life's frustrations out on them. Mom and Pop operations went buh-bye because folks don't want to pay their prices and Mom and Pop can't live off a handful of loyal customers. Common sense should make one realize that someone with a professionals level of knowledge and mechanical skill isn't going to be working for peanuts at the local parts mart. You get what you pay for. Or what you don't.

So, based on your reasoning, when I go into the chain restaurant for a Sunday afternoon meal, I should be okay with the kids in kitchen doing my fit in the floor, picking it up and dusting it off Before putting it on the plate, then the kid bringing it out to me sneezing all over it before putting it down in front of me, all because they’re kids trying to make a living and the restaurant just failed to teach them what they needed to learn in order to provide a customer with a good experience? Got it. Very sound reasoning right there.

I do apologize for the inconvenience however, from my personal experiences they are the best auto parts. My family members, friends and people I work on their cars are all shop at O'Reilly Auto Parts. I believe you came across a new employee that was not fully trained. Please, try not to judge the entire company on one single employee. My friendly advise to you is to give it another try and let me know what you think sir.

    My story :
So a year ago I bought a dorman windshield wiper transmission from o Riley’s . (It’s about 300 buck part) came with a lifetime warranty. After a year it went bad. I called them to ask them the process to get a replacement. They stated to bring it in we will get it started. So I bring it in thinking they will give me a replacement and i will finish up fixing my car.
Now I live in Ohio. The o Reilly’s guy said next closest matching part is in Pennsylvania. I said go ahead thinking it would be 2 days at the most to arrive.
It’s 2 weeks! 2 weeks for my part to go from Pennsylvania. Now I have a spare car however I’m a week into the two weeks and I still have not got a call

Have had similar experiences. It appears the website is not always up to date regarding in stock status. Often had to wait days for something they said would be ready in an hour. Also when you bring in the printed email receipt they still need to see your ID and credit card used to purchase. Process is full of obstacles instead of being easy. My solution is to call the store and ask if they have my part in stock, find out their name, and tell them I'll see you in 15 minutes. Much better outcome than using the interweb.

As an employee of a parts store that will remain unamed and with 20+ years experience in the automotive trade please let me start by saying thanks for trusting the aftermarket parts and not to say factory parts are the best cause when I ran my own repair shop both factory and aftermarket parts failed equally and I can honestly tell you that it was a pleasure working with all the aftermarket vendors or stores, now an employee and on the way up the ladder in the parts field I can tell you our problems with today's customers and they get mad when we ask all the info for cars so we can get the consumer all the parts needed for the job the first time and yes the right part but when customers ask for parts and they say that one there and just point or just say I think it just opens the door for failure! Please bring registration or vin number so we can provide the right parts also sometimes people change things (upgrades/modifications) and then want a factory part to work in conjunction or the same way and that's not quite how it works, well depending on what modifications were performed! Also I'm sure guy was new in your situation as manager does need to approve returns be it cores or warranty! Otherwise I can buy online and return cheap part or used part in box or like what I see a lot, people testing with our parts and then wanting to return after that didn't fix problem, I understand we all run a bit tight on money some more than others but do some research before purchasing and trying to return something that is totally unrelated! Best yet at least pay shop for diagnostic job, be patient cause all store employees don't build cars on time off or we also don't make parts and we are just who can provide the needed part at a great price with warranty better than the factory as most of those usually a year! Yes some stores hire young inexperienced people but they are a blank page and are willing to learn and that's always great as I am sure not everyone here knows everything of everything as using the right tools for the job!

    • @YogurtSnipe

Same for me if the pci is over the limit of a certain dollar amount. The reason for this is so that the company doesn’t lose or have overcharges. Nor gives the customer a chance to come back and say “hey where’s my money for this.” Then they just say the kid didn’t give his five bucks and it wasn’t concrete so usually the kid or store ends up paying just off of words and a receipt the customer has: but not the cashier.

Not gunna make an argument occur, but do research auto parts stores and see what requirements they have for being hired. If there’s 0 skill required you may assume there is people who sell you parts that don’t understand basic mechanics.
I myself don’t have the knowledge but I am very aware and state I am not the most knowledgeable, however if you can help me then I can help you.
