You can’t even enter the pregame festivities outside the stadium without a ticket and perimeter security check. . Then when you enter the stadium you go through the stadium security check with tickets (metal detectors bag check etc) then you go to the gate to show your ticket to enter the stadium. . No chance for “bad fans” to rush the gate, also having secure perimeters keep people safe in the fan zones. This is what is done all over the world for big matches. Better planning and not leaving it solely up to ticket companies (stub hub, vivid seats etc) on distribution and grouping fans better we would have not had all these issues.
I don’t think people expected the amount of crowd that colombia was going to bring because when you look at the game in Santa Clara the stadium was not completely full but there was a good amount of people but in Charlotte that crowd was almost all Colombian compared to Uruguay
A Venue that has hosted high profile global events with little to no hiccup, now people are questioning the city. Are you kidding me? Why don't we talk about the UNRULY FANS and CONMEBOL for being greedy and did not want to spend money for a better Tournament? This is an absolute disgrace.
Having attended the USA/Bolivia match I am not surprised that these unfortunate events occurred prior to the final. The USA/Bolivia match only had an attendance of around 47k in an 80k capacity stadium (AT&T stadium) and even then there were red flags all over the stadium regarding operational logistics for hosting a sporting event. From entering the stadium to security presence to straight up not having any concessions open on the upper tier of the stadium. We witnessed stadium employees rushing around to open concessions 30 mins prior to kickoff, citing that they were not expecting this many fans to attend. It was really disappointing to see how poorly organized everything was. I’ve been to sold out (80k in attendance) Gold Cup matches at AT&T stadium and never witnessed that level of unpreparedness. From stadium logistics to scheduling matches in the heat of day at outdoor stadiums, CONMEBOL seriously dropped the ball with putting on a complete and desirable spectacle of this great tournament in a country that has so much to gain from the beautiful game.
Seriously? The stadium employees weren’t expecting so much of a crowd to come when team USA is playing? This is really all on CONMEBOL. Of course FIFA will be better prepared on how to handle security, but it’s not a good look regardless.
@@erickbyarushengo4726 prolly not. They play baseball here. But obviously they don’t look around the world either to see how fútbol is everywhere else. They sent 20 Walmart security lady to control the soccer fans at a final 🤣😂
It's a resale... Tickets was controlled by Ticketmaster. I tired to get a pair of pre-sales tickets, but there's was a huge queue. FIFA and UEFA would never have other markets to sell tickets. UCL is controlled by UEFA, you need an active passport and it goes by lottery draw.
I've gotta admit after watching this Copa America and the major screw ups in security/ crowd control as well as the state of the pitches I'm more than worried about the next world cup.
I had never seen this before. People feeling entitled to enter a stadium without tickets? And where the security belts to control who enters and who does not enter were? So, fans and organizers acted poorly.
After seeing the Colombian fans target family of Uruguayan players in the stands in Charlotte (a place not exactly known for its Colombian demographic), you didn't think that the final, being played in MIAMI would be a problem? The tri-county area in Florida is made up of Cubans, Venezuelans, & Colombians (in that order). There is a massive Colombian population here. The organizers are so out of touch with reality.
I was there and had tickets. I arrived around 5pm and the gates were closed and occasionally let a very small amount in. I never saw any security or organizers try to direct crows or announce that the game was delayed. I haven’t received an email from the event apologizing for this craziness. I was able to find my seat around 8pm and the stadium was half full. Anyone with a tickets were patiently waiting at the game in the heat, I can’t understand why hold the gates closed to people waiting to get their tickets scanned.
CONMEBOL is NOT responsible. The US wanted to have the tourney in their grounds, they cut corners to get even MORE money than was already coming in and a LOT came in only to point their finger at CONMEBOL. Miami as a city seems incompetent and stadium security failed to deliver order. Don't be badmouthing CONMEBOL; I'm not saying they do any favors or that they're not corrupt, but in this instance it was all The US in its city of Miami and the US organizers in that stadium. Incompetence and greed all around.
@@mortalgargoyle2260 What happened in Brazil 2021 Final? Drunk Argentines began that racist nonsense before the game began and they got their heads knocked like animals. When it comes to soccer all South Americans are the same. Religion not sport.
There were people who had no tickets and had no expectation of tickets who came to the stadium. That caused a major problem. For the 2026 World Cup they're going to have to put a 1 mile perimeter around the stadium and no one can enter within 1 mile of the stadium unless they have a ticket to the World Cup or show proof that they live in within that 1 mile radius.
I don't know who Felipe is, but the problem is in a smaller number of viewers - now through the videos and photos you can see Colombian t-shirts. and in Colombia they don't respect anything, let alone entering the stadium. Conmebol is partly to blame, but if people are civilized there is no problem. The Michigan stadium with a capacity of 107 thousand people has not had that problem even in the Superbowl, concerts, etc. What has been done is not justifiable.

Your assumption is incorrect. Back in 2016 US Soccer organized the event and ended up making a huge profit from it. Conmebol saw this and decided they wanted all the money this time around and decided to organize it themselves.
The security is on US, CONMEBOL asked for more security in the gates and was denied. Gets your facts straight, CONMEBOL has no control over the country’s police force.

Whoever is blaming the fans for the complete failure of the organization of the Copa America in the USA is a complete fool and is part of the problem why soccer always fails in this country. Copa America was a failure from the beginning. 1) the turf was not apt to play on. Repeatedly coaches and players were complaining about the condition of the grass, how it was just layed down in some instances a few days before play, etc... This affects the outcome of games and the quality of play, YES! The ball would bounce around much more than normal because the seems of the grass were faulty, the footing of the players, etc.. 2) Safety of the player's families in the stadium. We saw this in the Uruguay/Colombia game. Absolutely unacceptable for this cup. 3) The refs were pathetic all Cup, we can agree on that. 4) The final was embarrassing the delay in the start, the chaos to get in after spending $2k a ticket, the 30 minute halftime charade (players cramping up in the dressing rooms waiting to get back on the pitch), etc... 5) Weather, Miami in July?? Who thought this would be a good idea for a final?? Players clearly fatigued, slow, etc.. These are just a few of the failure points. It is clear that in this country there is no respect for the game of soccer. It is treated like a 2nd class game for 2nd class citizens. Do you think there are no hooligans in Europe? Do you think there are no crazy fans coming in from all over the place trying to start trouble in Europe? Of course there are! But, in Europe soccer is king and the organization of the EuroCup, for example, is a major event and treated as such, with world class organizers, world class security, world class fields, world class refs, world class everything. In the USA, you get a bunch of amateurs running around trying to fill their pockets, doing the very minimum, without a clue of what it means to organize this type of event. It is a complete lack of respect for the sport and USA shouldn't be awarded these events if they can't meet the most minimum standards. Bielsa is right, the coaches are right, the players are right: USA's organizing committee got everything wrong and Copa America was a complete failure. And if you want to try to blame the fans, you're a fool and part of the problem. And the media is of course going to always blame the fans because we know the media is bought and paid for, just like Bielsa said to their face.
THE SAD PART IS THE ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR OF THE POLICE AGAINST THE FANS WHO WERE FRUSTRATED SHOWING THEIR TICKETS TO GET IN AND WERE BEATED BY THE POLICE, SO CRUEL AND DISRESPECTFUL.
82 minutes of delay… because of lack of communication and security, the “so call fans” trashing and forging their way to entering the stadium and not having any ticket or purchase. A ticket is disgusting, which ruined the game and ruined any respect from themselves and other people who actually bought ticket.
Totally not condoning violence and destruction of property, but US has limited understanding of global football culture. For.example, Argentinians have suffered sky high inflation, and still united; US still searching for something to unite us.
Who is at fault for the fan violence? Hmmmm...the fans? Its certainly not security's fault that people without tickets tried to break into the stadium and climb through vents.
He looks happy and smiling when he said they opened the gates whether you had ticket or not. He is happy for Colombians without tickets who got in to watch their losers lose the match.
Why would anyone pay significant money to travel to another country just to cause chaos, potentially face criminal penalties or be sent home? So bizarre.
This is typical fan behavior from the fans of these two countries. Don’t you dare try to place the blame on anyone but those fans that thought it was acceptable to try to get into the game without tickets. I don’t care how big or how important the event was. If you don’t have a ticket, you don’t go to the game, it’s that simple! To blame the organizers or the police or the stadium workers is ridiculous. Hold the unruly fans responsible for their actions. They, and no one else are responsible for any injuries or issues suffered by the rest of the passionate fans who followed the rules and purchased tickets to cheer on their national teams.
Lack of security rings in Charlotte and in Miami, this was not the case at Metlife. Beyond the security issues, kids separating from parents, people with heat strokes, etc, the fields were a disaster, you can put real grass 3 days bf the games. They endangered players with a disregard for playable field. The UY players families were stuck in a stampede. They didn't learn then, in Rio, in Libertadores, not ever because all they care about is money. FYI Copa America is the oldest international competition.

In Europe, I am used to hooligans aka Ultras and in South America, Barra Bravas and Torcidas Organizadas. However what I am seeing here just cannot be named yet. Europe can teach the US how to handle situation like that. People from peripheral gates show their tickets and get searched and are allowed in. On the other hand, NFL can handle business as well, I am just asking myself one thing, were the people decided to behave the same way they used to back from their country of origin?
Not because you barely know what CONMEBOL is, it doesn't mean that fans don't know what it is. Fans know what CONMEBOL is. Fifa better prepare for the world cup and explain the magnitud of it to the police and whoever is going to organize the security.
I know that FIFA will do a better job at handling security when the World Cup is here in another two years. But it’s still a bad image. You’re talking about two South American teams, one of which is the current World Cup winner. Of course the crowd will be much more chaotic than just a normal game. CONMEBOL really dropped the ball on this. The US has hosted the World Cup before and I’m more than certain that FIFA will have much better security measures in place.
I did not whatch the game, but this is a terrible behavior. The organizer should have be prepared, these issues occur on any country and by any skin color of the fans (see cases in the British championships)

@@bkbaughn ok blame the fans. Now what? Instead of blaming drunk idiots without tickets how about doing what they do in the Super Bowl and have Two security check points before you go to the gates.

That's crazy.. Colombians were anything but fair!

Sure it wasn’t Jerry’s fault lol
Way too big of an event for the Miami organization. International embarrassment…. And they want to run the World Cup 2026? 😂
Seriously? The stadium employees weren’t expecting so much of a crowd to come when team USA is playing?
This is really all on CONMEBOL. Of course FIFA will be better prepared on how to handle security, but it’s not a good look regardless.

FIFA and UEFA would never have other markets to sell tickets. UCL is controlled by UEFA, you need an active passport and it goes by lottery draw.
People will still buy the tickets 😅
It will screw people even worst why else do you think the US became the host 😂
Wrong . Resale system.
Resale tickets...the ticketing system is the problem...the way you can buy a handful of them and resale them easily...

Some of them blamed Uruguay 🇺🇾
Colombians are guilty!
Cubans don’t give a hoot about soccer…. Thank you.
Colombian fans again 😂
I was there and had tickets. I arrived around 5pm and the gates were closed and occasionally let a very small amount in. I never saw any security or organizers try to direct crows or announce that the game was delayed. I haven’t received an email from the event apologizing for this craziness. I was able to find my seat around 8pm and the stadium was half full. Anyone with a tickets were patiently waiting at the game in the heat, I can’t understand why hold the gates closed to people waiting to get their tickets scanned.
Ask anywhere in Europe about English fans in the 80s and 90s
CONMEBOL is NOT responsible. The US wanted to have the tourney in their grounds, they cut corners to get even MORE money than was already coming in and a LOT came in only to point their finger at CONMEBOL. Miami as a city seems incompetent and stadium security failed to deliver order. Don't be badmouthing CONMEBOL; I'm not saying they do any favors or that they're not corrupt, but in this instance it was all The US in its city of Miami and the US organizers in that stadium. Incompetence and greed all around.

The USA held the 2016 Copa America - did scenes like this play out then? I assume that the same organizations involved back then would have been in charge today. What's the difference now? It's not like fans were less "passionate" in 2016.
Simple the passion for this sport in this country is growing and on top of that you add millions people entering the country since 2016 is insane

It was organized by Conmebol... Also the 2016 edition didn't have any issue.
USA not used to deal with copa América crowds, that was it

82 minutes of delay… because of lack of communication and security, the “so call fans” trashing and forging their way to entering the stadium and not having any ticket or purchase. A ticket is disgusting, which ruined the game and ruined any respect from themselves and other people who actually bought ticket.
Totally not condoning violence and destruction of property, but US has limited understanding of global football culture. For.example, Argentinians have suffered sky high inflation, and still united; US still searching for something to unite us.

Some people still harping on "conmebol organized it". Well, it's in the USA. Take some ownership!
So bizarre.
They should be cancel the game
No cancel culture.
Are you saying no need for police as people should police themselves? what a silly yank you are
Lack of security rings in Charlotte and in Miami, this was not the case at Metlife.
