    This should help -
    When you think of BLUES: B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Janis Joplin & Billie Holiday
    When you think of SOUL: Al Green, Marvin Gaye, & Aretha Franklin (👈they can also fit into R&B RHYTHM & BLUES like Sam Cooke & Mary J. Blige)

    This song reminds me of my teenage years. Sitting in the rec room of my best friends house. Shag carpet, bean bag chairs, foos table sitting in the corner, pitch dark except for the soft glow of a lava lamp, and listening to Al Green and other Motown artists blaring out of a wall sized stereo unit. Ahhhhh... I'd give damn near anything to go back to those days!!

      I'm a 59yr blond/gray hair green eyes woman. I've loved 60's-70's soul R&B for as long as I can remember. I think I might've came out the womb with Motown playing in '62! Ha ha.
      Anyway, bring it on A dogg I'm with ya - What about reacting to The Dramatics- Hey You! Get Off My Mountain '73!

    I think Al Green is one of the greatest R&B Soul singers of all . If this music moves you, you should venture in to Donny Hathaway. Start with his “Some Day We Will All Be Free”. He was probably the best musical arrangers ever, the music will move you to your deepest emotions.

      No doubt about it!!! Willie Mitchell was his longtime producer who died in 2010 (RIP Mr. Mitchell.) Here; is a little trivia Mr. Green's background vocalists on most of his 70s hits were Sandra Rhodes, Charlie Chalmers, and Donna Rhodes, who were white, and the Rhodes were sisters All of the artists in Memphis wanted them to back them up including Isaac Hayes. I liked their backup on the Hayes album "Hot Buttered Soul" the song "One Woman" which in fact was written by Charlie Chalmers and his wife Sandra Rhodes who was a country-trained singer. They were silky smooth.

    • @sereneamani1713
      @sereneamani1713 2 роки тому

      @@bertc2314 Most or "some" of Al's hits. They sang with a lot of singers and musicians, most of whom were White. "All of the artists in Memphis" were not just Black R&B and Soul singers. Your comment is interesting, but a little misleading.

  • @angelagoodwin5758

    I think you are confusing Blues with Rhythm & Blues. Some Blues artists are: B.B. King, Z.Z. Hill, Muddy Waters, and Howlin' Wolf, just to name a few. Al Green and Johnny Talor were more Rhythm & Blues.

    My guy, I am loving your journey into the greatest music ever but its time... you need to go to the next level. Pink Floyd - Shine on you Crazy Diamond, Comfortably Numb, Great Gig in the Sky, Wish You Were Here, pretty much any Floyd is a winner. Then, after you are broken from the Spiritual onslaught, we build you up with some RUSH - Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio and Subdivisions. Oh and be prepared for the Rush Army to show up. I'll be waiting.
