I see the Vilip V2.0 has a full and deep bass and a sweet mellow midrange…the harshness is missing from the V2.0 highs.
    Love your videos Thomas.

Excellent report, Thomas! I've only managed to get to one show and I found it overwhelming! I rushed between rooms because I only had one day and some rooms were amazing and some fell short of what I expected. Its actually much more relaxing and informative to follow you through the rooms.

No shade to Montreal, but HiFi is the kind of hobby that's bigger in places that are quiet or where people spend more time at home. It makes sense that the biggest US audio show has been not in New York or LA but Denver. ComicCon is not in LA, it's in San Diego. These "second tier" hobbies such as HiFi and comic books typically find the slightly smaller, sleepier places to shine brightest.

Interesting music choice that gets you pumped. I don’t listen to a lot of electronic but I get a similar feel from Scandroid - shout (forgotten mix). Cool coverage of the Toronto event!

    • @ThomasAndStereo

Ah, it is not the kind of music I listen to but if you listen to it at 100db+ in a super big room....thanks for the encouragement!

Good food , good people and fantastic musical performances.👍👍
It was a pleasure visiting your room..but yes, Emotiva was a great room and the price point was impressive.
And yes cables ( connectivity) do make a difference..subtle..but that’s the game ..however…sometimes it can be surprising.
As for why I go to the shows …short of UA-cam videos..where can the average person get to see or experience higher end HiFi and to meet those people that I follow on UA-cam.
    Great video 👍👍

Cables works for final tune up! There is no game, its more do you understand what are you doing or not. My experience: open eyes, surprising and disappointing. Than everyone try to do the same with own system at home and… No results! That set of cables worked very good with Eversolo DMP-A6 as a DAC out for different setup I whould use different combinations

    I didn't go.
I'm afraid of going Irish on everyone, as I'm Irish.
"Going Irish" is generally perceived by non-Irish people as "psychotic".
Dishonestly inflated prices, and that's putting it mildly, are nothing short of a gouge and I resent it when someone it interfering with my enjoyment of music.
I shouldn't have to spend more than 2 gs to put the Berlin Philharmonic into my living room, and that's being generous. As far as I'm concerned they're crooks and I hope they all go out of business with their junk sitting on shelves and ending up at discount stores at 90% off.

23:42 I didn’t like the Hagel room ..It came across ( to me) tubby in the bass and just not engaging at all ..I think the streaming was “off”.

Definitely review CV! They don't compare to my reference system but they are my favorite for my budget system and eventually someday I will bring my CV's to my other house and try them in my reference system to see what they are capable of. My budget CV's are xls-12s The Sweet spot in their lineup. It's the smallest of their large speakers with having their top-of-the-line mid-range. I've owned other models and found these to be the most balanced

It does make a difference at least for tube amps. I was able to experience it myself with SQuark amp from one of the rooms Thomas described when it was playing next to a sub. That made me believe that tubes don't like to be shaked. I'm not sure about solid state though.

The Bliss Acoustics speaker midrange drivers is similar to the Linaeum - the drivers are very interesting. They are a dynamic design with a flat (rectangular) voice coil that moves the vertical inside edges of those two curved leaves. The sound propagates out along their surfaces - and the lower frequencies move farther out, while the higher frequencies stay in closer. They approach a line source.

    • @ThomasAndStereo
      @ThomasAndStereo  11 місяців тому

It will be coming soon. In short, the TS A20 is a poweramp, class A 20w but current feedback design as opposed to voltage feedback design which is 80% of the amps on the market. The same idea as Nelson pass first watt. Made in Canada and around $3750 USD. Made in Canada. Smooth and killer midrange . The other one TS A75 is class AB. Lot's of power, crazy bass and wide soundstage. 2 versions. One lively and one smoother. $1495 USD. Made in China. Both will be available with 220-240v.
For KLH Model 5? Many people have reported great pairing with the TS120SE.

Not a big fan of Emotiva, very cheaply made. I lifted one of their amps up once and the case metal was so thin the screws from inside left a dent in it. One of their DACs ran hot even when it was in standby. Maybe it's better today but from looking at the one in your video the case looks just as simply.

I went to the show on the second day hoping to hear AudioVector R3 Arrete, but not only they were not in the show but also non of the R line were demonstrated by Tri-Cell Entreprise. I also was hoping to hear Advance Paris hybrid amplifiers but I was told they were there to be viewed only. I liked the Gershman room as it sounded musical and easy on the ears, though for me too much colouration . I enjoyed particularly the Triangles Quatuor 40th anniversary with Perreaux integrated amplifier in the Elite Audio room. Just a note about the Triangle Magellan Duettos 40th anniversary, the tweeters are superb with non of the brightness you find in the Comete 40th anniversary.

Some are my favourite speakers and amps, Accuphase for one is that I couldn't afford to buy in the '70s when it was introduced into the markt.
