I wanted to share my experiences with the Purifi drivers, I own a similar design and after +50h of listening the midrange kept holding back, it sounded thin and less deep then my other speakers. Once noticed I could not get used to the sound.
This weekend I tried a more ´agressive´ break-in method by using a ´bass excursion´ track and let it play in a loop for 2 x 2h at high volume so the 3 drivers had to really work.
I was not expecting much but midrange now is completely in line with my other speakers.
I suppose normal listening level was just not enough to wake them up.
Needless to say I´m very happy and wanted to share this 😊
Can´t comment on the sound of the Clarity 6.2 because my build has different crossover parts and tweeter.
This was strictly about the midrange.

    • @suhbatshugan3721
      @suhbatshugan3721 Місяць тому +2

You should see the price of purifi audio drivers, they are not cheap. 400 dollars for each driver, so 800 for just woofers, I would assume custom amt drivers which will run you about 200 - 400 dollars each so you are now looking at 1600 dollars for just drivers. Average margin for hardware companies is about 2.5x markup, so the fair cost of this speaker considering just cost of materials is 4k. So this is honestly fairly priced.
Purifi drivers are honestly magic, you should look at their specs. Very revolutionary technology and advanced excursion surrounds to allow for equal elastic force from the surround through the entire excursion range. Not simple to do fea for, lots of bessel function mathematics. They are an advanced engineering company through and through.
      Advancement costs money.

Erin has a pair that is reviewing right now, out next week I believe. One would think Purifi speakers will swamp the market the way its going. Another company ( UK ) PDP has developed new Studio monitors using Purifi drivers matched up with the Bliesma T25s tweeter called the Mum 6 at roughly 3,500 eur + the Mum 8 ( 3 way ) Wait for it Buchardt is releasing soon the E50 using Purifi drivers inc the passive radiator at 3,950 eur, both of these companies sell direct, so pricing is landed to your door as Radiant Acoustics. We will be spoilt for choice, not so much affordable but at about $4,400 - $4,600 US delivered, that's a lot of speaker that will compete with much pricier offerings. Soon will have to make a decision, which way do I go ? help !

Radiant Acoustics/Nordic Hi-Fi is a seperate company within Peter Lyngdorf's umbrella of companies, not related to Lyngdorf Audio as such (besides of course Peter's involvement). As such, it doesn't really make sense to place this brand "between" his other companies... but what I can say is that of course, the Clarity 6.2 speakers is just the start :)

Interesting! However, I am waiting to see an active speaker that combines Purify’s technology with the Power DAC amplifier technology that Lars Risbo also invented. The question I have is: Why bother with all this perfection is you add cables, amp, pre-amp etc? Get the high-res digital signal directly to the speakers and have it processed by a small digital amp designed for the specific speaker.

The advantage that the Neumann's have for that specific use are the variable bass/mid/high contour adjustments and integrated room-correction/DSP functionality, as well as being built tough with portability in mind. There are several FOH tour engineers that transport the Neumann's to each venue on the tour for consistent reference monitoring. And they also live in quite a few broadcast truck studios as well.
I still have and love my OG Neumann KH120A in my home studio, but have designed larger custom active DIY monitors as my main monitors.

The only option would be to use an oval PR on the rear panel and free up the side panels so that they could be curved.
I have seen 2 of the Purifi woofers. A small 4.5” one and a bigger 6” one. The surrounds immediately stand out as unique. Much of the other engineering like the shorting ring etc has been done before (as far back as the mid and late 80s). Purifi drivers are some of the most expensive available rivalling the ones from Accuton, AudioTechnology, ScanSpeak’s Elliptor series etc so I can’t afford them. TBH, you haven't even heard the speakers yet and ALREADY you are claiming that "you think" there are better performing speakers for the money?
All things being equal, can you explain how a curved design would always result in a loudspeaker with a better soundfield and better performance overall from a technical standpoint?
A "high craftsmanship" curved cabinet is always much more complex to manufacture, and therefore is usually more costly as well. The "boring normal square like speaker" design of these RadiantAcoustics speakers achieve their intended design and performance goals without requiring a curved cabinet, so it is simply your personal preference, desire, and opinion to want a curved loudspeaker, which is likely not what many others may want.
Large companies like RadiantAcoustics' parent company do extensive market research to learn what type of overall design is most popular and desirable and will generate the most sales and profit...as they ARE in business to make a profit, not just to "survive".
When you operate your own business and have to pay for ALL of the many multitudes of associated operating costs to keep the doors open, you may get a clearer understanding as to why some things cost as much as they do! The cost of the product to the consumer is NOT just the cost of the raw materials and "parts" needed to create it.
And the use of better materials, higher manufacturing tolerances & QC, and better engineering in order to achieve a very high level of performance will obviously cost more to create. Should these people do their work for free, live in a tent on the street, or lose money on each sale just so that you can have a lower price?
The primary goal of ANY business is to be and remain PROFITABLE. Otherwise it cannot be sustained. They need to pay all of the company's bills & expenses, AND then also provide a safe home and put food on the table for their families.
And TBF, there are not too many products in ANY category that are near or at the top tier of available performance which are affordable for everyone, or even to common folk.
Of course, when YOU can design, manufacture, and sell a speaker that looks better (to you), and performs better as well, you are free to sell them at whatever price you desire. ;)
But IMO it's quite laughable to make any type of judgement of a product that you haven't even heard or had the opportunity to actually directly compare to other speakers yet in the same price bracket. 🤷‍♂

you always need cheap speakers, 2 ways has its place.

      "Garbage"
Says the man, who doesn't know that, even in DIY community (whom are specialists to not spend a hell lot of money for a speaker build), PuriFi drivers are considered to be the best ever made for low end application.
Even Troels Gravesen has made several designs involving those drivers.
This is on of the company to look after in the HiFi drivers community, along with Kartesian Acoustics.
