One of the most simple, to-the-point lessons I've seen on this. Thanks!
6:39 is awesome. Wish I had a friend.
One of the Best Ideas of SoundProofing is "SoundProof Curtains" it actually Block outside Noise coming from Windows. Check Here: livesoundproof.com/best-soundproof-curtains/
Perfect video! Short and to the point while being super informative. Keep it up
Glad it helped!
Watched 3 videos about the subject, this one was the most straightforward and easy to understand. Thanks, man. I bought some of these acoustic foams to help make better voice recordings for my channel, so it's nice to have an idea of how to place them. 🤝🏻
Double sided scotch tape works wonders for mounting the tiles. theyre super light, 4 little pieces on each corner did the trick for me. dope video too!
That was a great video! Clear and straight to the point, thank you 😊
Updated Acoustic Panel DIY project video coming out this sunday! thanks for watching
my acoustic foams just arrived, thanks for the tips !
Best and most to-the-point video I’ve seen on this topic. Thanks!
glad to help!
Excellent breakdown.. thank you!
this is exactly what i needed and more! thanks!
Great video and thanks for sharing your knowledge! This helped me to understand what I need and where I need to place it.
You're welcome, Joe! So glad to help, peace and health in the new year
Very well explained, thanks for this dude!
Exactly what I needed, thank you!
This was exactly what i was looking for
Best quick and easy informative video about this topic on UA-cam.
Very Helpful video.. the acrylic caulk, cardboard and hangers work great 👍
Great video, very informative thanks!
I used coroplast/tunnelcore sheets with hot glue to adhere the panels to the sheets. Then after wiping down the surfaces with iso-alcohol I mounted the sheets with command strips. Has worked well.
Oh my god! THANK YOU for being straight to the point about this! All the others were very confusing for me! As someone who wants to do both music and voiceover on the side, this was so helpful!
I do have one question though, is the alternating verticle-horizantal pattern on wedge shaped acoustic foam a necessity, or do people just go that route for aesthetic?
Great vid! Thanks. Also, the thumbs-up moment got a chuckle outta me.
Thank you this was supper helpful!
This really helped me out!!! Thanks for the video bro!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you!
Thank you so much man!
Fantastic video, informative and not too long :D
Thanks for the class. Now I'll give my office some treatment!
Get er done, Rodrigo
Thank you so much
This is really informative man thank you!
🙏 bless
Great video
This content is really helpful! Appreciate it! :)
glad to help! thanks for watching
I've spent days searching for a good tutorial and I finally found one.
Glad I could help :D
finally not someone who wasted my time. I watched about 10 videos prior to this & they were not clear!! This was so simple and straight to the point. Thank you. \
Love to hear it! thank you for watching. If you
are interested in acoustic treatment, you may enjoy the more recent video I did on building and mounting rockwool acoustic panels:

Very useful, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Good info hang foam
Great information.
Thanks for watching!
Got my acoustic foam at the post office picking it up rn. Thanks for video. 3 years later and still helping people!
glad to hear! Where do you record and mix?
@@LearnAudioEngineering I have a small studio in my room. I'm a long time musician but just getting into home recording. I just made my first full recording with drums , bass, guitar and vocals and I did all the instrument parts myself. Just learning how to drum, I picked them up so I could make full recordings by myself because I didn't want to use samples and plug-ins. I'm in a remote area and it's hard to find people to jam with, so for now I'm taking on everything myself and have a modest set up.
@@From_A_Diverging_Timeline Good luck my guy. I live in a relatively small room and Im trying to learn music production while taking courses on mixing and mastering so I respect your journey doing it solo for now.
@@7vensoundz851 I'm a musician foremost. I'm getting into recording just to get my songs out there. Its actually going really well. I need some more mics to mic my drum kit properly tho. I got 3 mics. And ideally I'd have a couple more. Thanks for the kind words.
Cool video! How did you place the foam cubes? Im strugling a lot with them :c
I just found this video andnits helped. Inwas confused on whether to put my 12 x 12 panels nexf to each ofher or to space them out. My space is 15 L x 11 W brick walls. I use this space to listen to vinyl. So i found this very helpful
Very helpful bro
Awesome
🤘
This is a really helpful video
Glad it helped!!
Thank you so much man ❤
Just a tip for anyone using spray adhesive. Spray it on lightly rather than heavily on both the foam and the cardboard. Then allow it to dry until tacky or it loses its sheen. Then stick both together. This should be much faster, reduce the smell, and remove the need to place weights on top! Spray adhesive is just contact cement in a can.
yoo this was v helpful, thank u for making this video :)
glad to help! thanks for watching :)
Great straight forward advice, thanks for the info :)
I'm getting a whisper room made inside my room and the tip will be very helpful. I also can't use spray adhesive (because Canada) so this video is a definite life saver!
I bought this spray adhesive in Canada, is it banned now or something?
@@LearnAudioEngineering sorry i should have explained better. I live in Toronto, so It's cold af right now and i don't want to use it inside. I live in a basement so spray adhesive is a no go
@@espion2KX got it, I'm in Edmonton and it's also cold af. stay warm eh!
@@LearnAudioEngineering same for you 😁 keep up the good work!
Dude Yu got a picture of Bob man dope
Bob man dope is always with me
He looks like musician version of Chris Evans

YESS!
I’m trying to have a corner with all my recording equipment would I be able to put the foam and the corner for effect to take place or would I have to put them elsewhere
Yeah this video was handy AF. I'm setting up my room for an audio lab and first time using these tiles. The only question I have is, what about using thumb tacs to post these to the wall? I got 1.2 inch thick tiles so the push pins aren't crushing too much foam. (Aside from damage to the wall, do they have any negative effects? or will i get the same result with push pins?)
Anyone know if hanging fabrics in front of the foam would reduce or add effectiveness? Tapestries, sheets etc.
What brand are these foams, thx?
Subbed,, here from Nova Scotia
Awesome! Thank you for watching, I appreciate the sub!
Just a quick note, If you are looking at treating a space for recording or listening I would NOT recommend using foam.
You may enjoy my most recent video demonstrating the differences between rockwool panels, and acoustic foam. ua-cam.com/video/8FvtRJHHr1M/v-deo.html
Hope this helps! :D
if I have a bunch of copper wire laying around, could I use a piece of that and pierce the tile on either side (think like a picture wire but straight and rigid along the back, with an end on either side poking in) and command strip that on? There would be only as much space between the tile and wall as the thickness of the wire, and the front of the tile would be undisturbed.
I just got acoustic foam should I space it out like you?
Hi how would stack them on top each other please?
I'm just here by curiousity but the first minute got me like daamn.... this channel for me? ToT
Glad to have you Reaper! Hope you'll Subscribe.
How do you place your diffusion and absorption?
u can use a rolled-up towel and its really good
3M command strips worked for my foam
Anyone have a tried and true recommendation for caulking?
Gud bro
Great video thanks! Any updates in the process of setting them up in the wall ?.still holding that way ? I bought velcro tape I hope it works...
They have been holding strong with the command strips! Theres possibility of another acoustic mounting video in the works!
@@LearnAudioEngineering thank you so much dude. I got that silicone you recommended and it rocks. It seems that is going to hold tight along with the velcro tape. Keep the good work. Thanks.
Hii. Your video is very helpful. I have a question. If I'm doing cooking video using only my phone and shotgun mic, and using top down technique to record my video, where should i put the foam? Is it the mic level? Or the table level (where i put my mixing bowl etc when I'm cooking)?
Cooking videos would be a lot of fun to make. Like mixing, you have ingredients, a recipe, and the ability to improvise.
I'd aim to get the best sound for your voice, if you plan on recording a live voice over. So start by dampening any hard flat surfaces around your mic. Hopefully that will give you enough vocals. If you have the mic and phone separate, you could balance your vocal and the ambient sound of sizzle and whisking.
Happy Cooking, what is your specialty dish?
Thanks for watching, Huzaifah
Where should i put my acoustic foam if my walls and corners are blocked by furniture?
Can you give a tip for podcast microphone should I use also use the mirror thing to know where to place acustic foam
Here is my video on podcast mic recommendations: ua-cam.com/video/xrOcHqY8oss/v-deo.html
@@LearnAudioEngineering thanks will check it out
That's great for mixing and mastering but what about for recording vocals. Doe the positions need to be the same or just fill a full wall with it and put the microphone in front of it
10K Artist p
10K Artist It’s the same. Physics doesn’t change just cos you’re recording something
Does this help me from getting external or background sound into my live streaming? I live close to the airplane route…
Do you record vocals in this same room ? How effective are these foam bass traps on 100-500 HZ ?
Yes I've recorded vocals in this room, when I do I like to use dynamic mics. I rented a U87 once to track vocals and it picked up so much of the room, which can be cool if you have a nice room.
As for the bass traps I haven't done a before and after, but I doubt they really do that much tbh. They were much smaller than I expected. But they look cool ;P
Does.it matter which way you place the tiles?????
Where do you put the foam at? Like what common places I should put my foam
Flat perpendicular surfaces like walls, Look for first reflection points using the mirror trick I show in the video. Usually the top half cuz that's the level your ears are.
What is most effective at cutting out/down reverb/echo? Foam panels, or the ones that are more dense, but thinner? Not made of foam.
If it’s not auralex the foam is likely worthless. Good solution to stick on walls- heavy duty Velcro. Works best imo
I've used gorilla glue to put up my panels. It works well.
I’m so late but can this method be used for sound proofing any room?
I have a roommate who uses kind of loud and I want to put foam in my room to stop her talking in my room! Will the foam block out the sound of her voice?
Great question! Acoustic foam is meant to manage sound reflections within a room, helping to improve the acoustics for recording or listening purposes. Although for any serious applications Rockwool panels would be a much more effective treatment.
Acoustic foam would NOT be effective for preventing sound from entering your room from the outside.
For blocking external sounds, you'd be looking at more complex construction methods, and materials like Rockwool Safe N Sound, Acoustic Sealant, Quiet Rock drywall, and/or Mass Loaded Vinyl which tend to be more effective for this purpose.
Hope this helps, sorry for the noise.
Can you place them over a wallpaper?
You could If you use command strips, they won't damage the wallpaper. If you're concerned, ask for a recommendation of wallpaper friendly command strip at the hardware store!
Omg, i hoped you fixed that one panel
Acrylic latex what?
why always the checkerboard pattern though?
Gluing cardboard to the back of the foam is a great tip
I'm going to use Push Pins to install them. :'D
Can I email you a picture of my living room and you give me suggestion for placement
sure! robert at learn audio engineering dot com
you should’ve used Velcro my guy to put on the command strips and then put on the foam

Welcome to the stevie wonder guide to acoustic treatment.
I guess it looks good if you never have to actually look at it.
Also, I doubt that is actually doing your mixes any good.
forests are just as echoey. grew up in one.
All good dude, but they look better rotated 45° in a diamond, and you know, aligned ;)
over 2 years later and these still crooked af :P
Never underestimate the power of caulk.
My mom yells at me for being to loud, does this video help with being more quiet?
No, these foam panels won't help you with sound proofing unfortunately.
4:40 😳😏
I cant stop looking at the crooked panel behind him.
Travis scott just throws a blanket over him
i mean.... why not? I remember sending some riffs and putting a blanket over my amp. work with what you got.
I used alien tape
he said caulk hee hee
I'm thinking of using my hot glue gun instead of acrylic latex
nothing worse than seeing someone with 12 foam squares, all placed tightly together in one 5x4 foot section of their front wall and NOTHING else. also the cardboard trick, hot glue works well. just gotta move fast. heavy moving blankets work well also but look so ugly. feel like youre in a padded cell ha ha
If only I had a friend to hold the mirror...
