Congrats! You were an inspiration when I first applied and now I’m in practicum. Looking forward to more content on your Florida registered intern experience.
I’m thinking about private pratice myself. I was just going to say if you could do a video on that. Your right, it’s all on who you know. North Carolina is the same, after graduation you’ll be a licensed associate then once you get your hours then you’ll be a therapist. I can relate. When I got my associates I wanted to just cook, I didn’t want to do the book part of culinary arts. My gpa for my bachelor’s was a 3.5 and like you said coming from someone who didn’t take it seriously to now . I’m proud of myself. I wanted a challenge. Now graduate school is coming up and while my mentors have prepped me for this experience. I still worry about internships which I already have a supervisor for , but will I do a good job. Can I get a job after graduation. Getting a career in the mental health field is hard to find with graduates that are just starting out. So yeah I worry, but I know I can do this. I am very proud of you. I’ve been watching your videos from the beginning. You inspired me. Thank you for the TED talk😂😊
I think you’ll do amazing! Thank you for sharing your journey with this community. The journey is honestly the best part. Thank you for watching from the beginning that just made my whole day 😊
@@kdcounseling I was given a THE EXPANDED DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY SKILLS TRAINING MANUAL from a Dr who specializes in DBT , and in the manuals there is a book called Dialectical Behavior Therapy in Private Practice: A Practical and Comprehensive Guide (Marra, 2005) I don’t know if there’s a newer version
Thank you for your videos! I’ve just started a clinical mental health counseling program and this is all really helpful. Congratulations on finishing!!
I have been watching your journey in order to prepare me for mine! I start my masters in clinical counseling in a week! I am behond nervous but I've been looking at your videos to help prepare me. Congratulations on graduating 🎉🎉🎉
You will do great! You will have to keep me updated on your journey. I really like hearing how programs are different and how my friends on here are navigating through. Thank you 😊
Do the PHD! I’m starting my CMHC program in the DC metro area in august and I’m already planning on transferring to the PsyD program. We have similar journeys with just BSing around and than finally buckling down. Thanks for the video! Sharing is caring! Congrats 🤗
Thank you for the encouragement! When I get a few weeks off I will do a thorough search into places that have the PsyD program for sure and figure out a way to get that going. I need a month to chill though 🤣 I’ve gone non stop since January 2018.
Thank you for sharing your journey, you are a great motivation to me. I was so nervous to start but after watching a number of your videos i applied and got accepted. I will be starting CMHC in January and i hope for the best. Congratulations
Your journey has been really helpful to me. I am a mom too and I am just about to finish my 2nd semester and am starting to apply to practicum/internships. Do you have any advice for applying to that or could you make more videos on it? Thank you so much!
I’m glad you mentioned it. I am so excited to make more videos about getting a site and how things go. My advice would be if it’s not your perfect place that’s ok. It’s practicum and internship. The important thing is being at a place with a supervisor that has time for you. A place that works with your schedule and a place where you will get time working with client and learning how to properly document. Thanks for watching 🥹
Thank you for keeping it real 🙏🏼Congrats are you going to do anything special to celebrate? Also May I ask how you figured out what you wanted to do I feel like I’m in the position you described when you took a break from school. Would you min sharing your age? If I do go to grad school it would likely been in my early 30’s. So excited for you 😊
I’m studying healthcare manager bachelors and I want to get my masters degree in mental health counseling does it matter that I have a bachelors in healthcare ?

I would do it at any age. It depends on what you want from your future. I wanted to be able to sit on my butt when I’m old and work lol 😆
Does CACREP permit counselor interns to complete their direct contact hours via teletherapy?
I think if they are on with you or in the building not sure I will have to find out.
Also it depends on what kind of intern you mean in school or after graduation because in school you can but the supervisor has to be on with you.
@@kdcounseling This would be for my grad school MS-Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
@@heavybrandpodcast yeah you’ll just have to find a supervisor that would be willing to do it.
@@kdcounseling Thanks 🙏🏿

No not in the program I’m doing we had paralegals, people that worked in a lab. I think healthcare would be great.
