The new 2.0 update for the Minifreak and Minifreak-V includes the introduction of the sound store and I'm really happy to say that one of the free sound packs available at launch was one that I created called "Deserted Lands". Listening to it now while I've been editing photos. It's terrific~! I'd love to get you on my shoe to have a conversation about making music and some of the challenges of the creator economy. And thank you for the brilliant sound pack. I downloaded it last night and already have added a few to the new favorites panel. :)
@@jefferysaddoris thank you so much for checking it out - it's definitely well suited to being 'working music' I think. And I'm glad to hear that some of the patches have made their way to the favourites (which is a new feature I forgot to cover in my video!).
We live in magical times when all this sonic goodness is given to us as gifts… thank you so much! 🙏
Enjoy!
Given? I'll take one please
@@Gap-td7lr it’s a free pack of patches so yeah… given. 😊
Something I just learned about the Bass oscillator - according to NE, it isn't "bass" as in the instrument, because it's named after a person (and presumably pronounced like the fish). They based this oscillator on an algorithm published in Electronotes (#73, in this case).
Until now I had never heard of Electronotes, but after reading them for a while, I recommend them for interesting reading material that's mostly synth-related.
Your patches are top notch, and have already been a part of many jam sessions here. Hopefully looking forward to more patches in the future!
[but I'll settle for more Minifreak videos (actually just more videos :D )]
Dude, your new EP is amazing! Track 2 is so evocative, like bathing in static. Wonderful stuff❤
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you're enjoying it. That track was definitely one of the most fun to create, it really felt like the Syntakt was "breathing".
Not surprised they asked you to make some patches. Your microfreak patches are fucking 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Just lurrrvly. A true talent.
Thank you! will be updating firmware and downloading the soundpack! love your channel..Happy Holidaze
Cheers, I hope you have fun with the patches!
I had an absolutely delightful time the last two nights after work sitting and exploring the new patch packs and 2.0 factory patches.
I really love the vibes you have going, a perfect splash of dissonance in some of these
"Splash of Dissonance" is my modus operandi.
Thanks for the great soundbank . The best collection of Minifreak presets I have heard so far !
Cheers!
Excellent!!👏👏👏
Just Loaded these into my Minifreak. Thanks so much! Amazing sounds.
Cheers! Glad you're enjoying them!
Thank you! As much as I wanted to make my own patches yours sound incredible and I'll definitely be using them and enjoying them. Thanks for putting all that work into unique modulations and sounds. Absolutely love it!
Wonderful. I downloaded this pack earlier this evening, then by chance, stumbled across your video. Great to see and listen to this!
Beautiful dark and ambient patches… can’t wait to update and play with them. Thank you!
Cheers! Have fun exploring them!
Amazing patches and really showing off how versatile this synth is, thank you for sharing!
The Minifreak has a huge range - it's great fun to make patches for.
Congratz and thanks so much for this awesome free pack of wonders!
Thank you!
Incredible, I can only hope one day we can port microfreak patches in minifreak v so I can use your pack for it as well.
Been using these on analog lab a lot. Amazing patches.
Nice work Osc Sink - defo going to DL this off this new Arturia website 👍
I downloaded this yesterday, it's a fantastic patch pack :) thanks so much!!
Thanks for checking them out - I'm glad you enjoyed them!
Happy new year Mr OS. Bought your new album and been listening to it while cooking, tremendous stuff man! It’ll be featuring very heavily in my work from home choonagé I reckon. Going to get your preset pack after I’ve eaten so I’ll thank thee in advance because there are some sounds I was salivating over while listening to your album. Cheers dude.
Thanks for checking it out, I really appreciate it! Happy new year to you too!
@@OscillatorSink Just realised I misunderstood what you said earlier in the video… I thought you’d mentioned the sounds from the preset pack had been used in the making of the EP. Now I realise it was done with a Syntakt, which blows my mind! So all the sounds are purely from a Syntakt? If so, that’s incredible and leads me to a question - If you could only own either a Digitakt or Syntakt, which would you choose? I ask because I have a Digitakt but have considered selling it and buying a Syntakt, yet I have a Model:Cycles so maybe already have some of the Syntakt engines. Excellent preset pack for the MF by the way, cheers for that man!
@@chitlun ah, yes, that's right these sounds were a separate project to the EP and actually were made much earlier than the EP (although there's some shared vibes for sure!).
Yes the EP is pure Syntakt - literally nothing added; it's recorded from the stereo output on the instrument. Only EQ and dynamics processing was applied at the mastering stage (and not much dynamics processing as the syntakt's master drive was keeping most stuff in check).
I actually did a video ranking my synths for doing this kind of music, and unsurprisingly both the Syntakt and Digitakt were top tier. As for only being able to have one: if you forced me to choose, it would be the Digitakt, but I wouldn't be happy and that would be a choice of general utility - the digitakt can do more stuff well; the syntakt can do some specific things exceptionally.
@@OscillatorSink Cheers man, I’ll stick to the Digitakt/Cycles combo for now then I reckon. I do sample into the Digitakt quite a lot from t’ modular so I’m glad I didn’t sell it!
These are wonderful, I love them! I just bought my minifreak last week, so this was a fun surprise :)
Your timing was impeccable!
I love these patches- thank you for sharing!
Thank you for checking them out!
Outstanding patches and demonstration of the MF’s depth. Smashing stuff.
"They Sang" had '7 Cities' by Solar Stone playing in my head.
This is great stuff! Thanks for the vid... just added a link to it in the description of my latest vid!
Thank you! Appreciate the link, I hope you enjoy the patches.
Hi, I just downloaded your patch, thanks for creating this. I got it but at first it didn't work, so I rebooted my computer then I seen it was in my sound bank and I'm looking fwd to trying it out next time I go noodle around with my gear. Thanks
These are wonderful, thanks for making them! Im going to have to clear some space and load these up! Also looking forward to the EP, just grabbed it ✨
Thank you on both counts, and I hope you enjoy both too!
Really dope presets 🙌
Thank you!!
FYI - Minifreak V is 50% off until March 7!
nice patches, do you like the Minifreak as much as your Korg opsix?
How do you download them. I just ordered mine. These sound amazing. Most have a Lorn/Lustmord vibe
Thanks! There's a link in the video description: www.arturia.com/sounds - filter by instrument and you should be able to find them there.
Will these work in Analog Lab Pro or do i need to wait til i update to Collection X? (update running atm lol)
You plan on making any more patches for the minifreak?
Almost certainly.
This may be nit picky, but I would appreciate it if you lowpassed your mic more, because it’s quite boomy on a full spectrum monitor, which makes this jarring to listen to.
Highpass (or more likely a low shelf) is what you'd want for that, and yeah, I might rejig things.
My favorite patch is chewd tape. By far. Just because I'm obsessed with tape warble, bump, wow and flutter.
It's so funny.. i literally JUST made a patch using bitcrush and it sounds a bit like the ending piano on Nine inch Nails "closer". I named the patch "Farther". I know the NIN song doesn't use tape warble for that part, I just thought it would pair up well :)
also i just discovered all 400ish free AirWindows plugins, and I'm having a blast with ToTape6 and Tape
There is always something tape warbly in every pack I make - I'm also obsessed!
