The storyboard artist is AMAZING. The art on it alone is so well done, and usually a storyboard is a few decent scribbles as a map for how they want a scene to go. You can tell the artist put a lot of work on the storyboard alone.
Thanks for uploading this. Apart from it being amazing it shows the raw brilliance of this show right from the pilot episode. I felt the 3rd Stephanie resembled Shelby Young from the pilot. Curious how Robbie got a new look. I feel Shelby is the best singer.

😂🤣 Right? Sonic was the first thing I thought of hearing his voice for this, kinda glad they didn’t go that route, love his actual voice with the (Icelandic?) accent! :)
Things were really different back then. 1. It sometimes showed an animatic version during half of the short. 2. The puppets looked kind of concerning. 3. The puppets were voiced by children. 4. Sportacus was voiced by someone else.
Kaitlyn Myner My guess was that maybe Magnus' English wasn't as good then. This pilot was a few years before the actual series was made if I'm not mistaken.
@@Grandofthestar Robbie had more than one actor in the live show, and we need one of them to replace Stefán. Magnús decided to stop playing Sportacus after production of Series 4 ended. Dŷri Kristjánsson, as a result, replaced Magnús.
In the official episode of Ziggy's birthday, the caramels were changed to taffy for some reason, but the Italian dub called them caramels because apparently, taffy isn't a thing in Italy.
I love how This pilot is so different from the show. How Robbie builds robots instead of putting on disguises. And how there are only two puppets on screen(maybe it’s because the others weren’t completed yet). Sportacus’ voice is so different, and you did a good acting job yourself, shelby. But I have one question:do you know what a “lazytown team” is? What does this team do exactly? Just a little curious.

All in all, it's clear to see they understood their vision from the get-go, but the changes made for the final product were (mostly) for the best! God bless the team for making such a wholesome children's show, I think the show turned out to be a total classic 👍
I believe probably because he didn’t know English at the time, (I know it was the case when the show first started for Stephen for a while)… (He was probably dubbed here too…)
The puppets have a similar look of the "fire gang" in Labyrinth. They move like it. Also, I understand why they didn't air, because they gave more of an uncanny valley feel than the goofier looking ones they settled on. Good job singing bing bang though Shelby! Right on tune.
I like how the Pixel puppet is practically the same as the one used in the final series, but the Ziggy one looks completely different. I do wonder why exactly they made such a change. I couldn't help but notice that Stingy and Trixie were only heard in one of these, and they didn't even have puppets; they appeared once in the storyboard bit. That being said, Stingy, Sportacus and Robbie Rotten sound completely different from the final version. Honestly I'm glad they made the changes they did. The voice actors for the puppets in this did sound more like actual children but I enjoy the voice actors in the final version so much more; they just sound like better actors. Also Robbie Rotten's voice in the final version fits his silly antics much more than the one in this. The only actor that I would have liked staying was Stephanie's.
This is rare because it hasn't aired on TV due to technical difficulties and contract dissagreements. But is so good to have the debut of a fan favorite: Robbie Rotten!

I honestly thought it was Shelby Young in Welcome to Lazytown and Julianna played the character after, I never knew about this pilot episode until today
Honestly, I would have loved to see a LazyTown cartoon with the styles of the pencil sketches. I also just noticed there was only puppets of Ziggy and Pixel, Stingy and Trixie were only pencil sketches. Stephanie's actress was very cute in this one. I didn't care for Sportacus' dubbed voice, but my only answer for that is maybe Magnus didn't know English as good at the time. Also I notice the logo in this version looks just like the version from the second stage show (only in English haha).
I wish stuff like this was available more often. It's very fun to see how projects change. Shelby plays a fine Stephanie, not sure why she was replaced. I'm pretty sure Sorprtcus' voice is dubbed here. While Magnús Scheving is perfect in his physicality and his facial expressions, (and no disrespect) I like this dubbed voice. Magnús had such a thick accent and I felt that sometimes he didn't always have the best line delivery. But, I know that voice dubbing is always controversial.
I like how they switched the bing bang song from "Bing bang dingaringadong first thing that I say after I wake up" to "Bing bang dingaringadong funny words I say when I am dancing" it's a massive improvement
3:18 Robbie: Hello, there, Sporta... (gets hit by ball) Sportacus: Hey, Robbie! Robbie: ..cus! How about a little friendly game of soccer? Sportacus: Yeah, Robbie. Why don't you join our team? Robbie: A TEAM?! No, no, no, no, no, no! How about a little one-on-one soccer? Sportacus: Well, I don't know. Stephanie: That's easy, Sportacus! You're a superhero! Sportacus: Oh, no, Stephanie, I'm not a superhero. I'm what you call a slightly-above-average hero. (to Robbie) Sure! I'll play you! Robbie: I never said it was me you'll be playing against. This game is going to be between Sportacus and...Robot in the Soccarius 3000! My mean soccer playing machine!

Magnús had such a thick accent and I felt that sometimes he didn't always have the best line delivery. But, I know that voice dubbing is always controversial.
not sure if you have, but if you want to see how much this project has changed so far, go watch the theatre plays from 1996 and 1999
Daleylife i guess shelby sounded a bit too old?
According to IMDB, she backed out due to Union Restrictions.
Shelby Young was so cute back then. :)
You can hear Stefán Karl Stefánsson's Icelandic accent when Robbie speaks
I like how they switched the bing bang song from "Bing bang dingaringadong first thing that I say after I wake up" to "Bing bang dingaringadong funny words I say when I am dancing" it's a massive improvement
1:56 Sportaflop sounds like Behind the meme
Man Jerma’s very own Mr. Green is playing Robbie Rotten? Awesome!
This show was way more boomer than I remembered it to be.
Huh?!
3:18
Robbie: Hello, there, Sporta... (gets hit by ball)
Sportacus: Hey, Robbie!
Woah, character design got some serious repairs when the show actually came out
Koenigsegg Agera R&S I was never asking why, I was just indicating that they got fixed
I’m so glad they didn’t end up going with the full body puppeteering.
It just feels like Pixels body was being moved spiritually.
First seconds in: hey this is kinda cute
0:36 OH GOD WHY
AND WHERE IS SPORTAFLOP'S ACCENT
Knowing Stefán played the Grinch at one point makes so much sense for how he plays Robbie here. It feels more Grinch than Glanni, in fact!
*I'm surprised they used less advanced puppets than these in the final project!*
