Just discovered your watch channel and I'm sooo happy you're not concentrating on just Seikos or all divers. Please review more near luxury and microbrands like Oris, Longines, Ball, Monta, and Farer. Subscribed.
Great video and totally agree with you. Just today I have a IWC and some had a Laco. I was shocked because I could have save the money and got more value. Haha live and learn.
Not really, I tried to keep it as objective as possible. One can't deny the IWC quality and finish but its hard for many to justify spending that kind of money on a watch which is why my recommendation is the Laco as an affordable alternative with an equally fascinating and somewhat connected history. This is also the goal of the channel to showcase affordable high quality alternatives. Acknowledge affordability is subjective and depends on people's circumstances
@@BasicallyWatches but Laco in this case is more affordable at the expense of being more inferior due to a much more inferior movement. should have at least mentioned that Lacos also come with Selitta
Very nice video. Well done! I immediately subscribed. I liked your detailed description with all the specs. I also liked that you actually compared them side-by-side under the same conditions. I don't think I have seen other youtubers do the segment "how it fits with a shirt". That's a very good idea. You should maybe keep one "reference shirt" for that :). That way past reviews would be comparable with future reviews. I would like offer some constructive criticism as well: Ad background music: IMO it's a little bit disruptive - both due to relatively hight volume and due to its style. I had a bit of a problem hearing you. I think you would improve your videos if you lowered the volume a bit (maybe by ~30%). Also, I think that some "milder", "calmer" music style would fit it better. Something not so hectic. But that's probably a personal preference :). Ad Laco: Apart from the upgrades you mentioned, they also offer movement upgrades. Sometimes that brings better accuracy. It also improves the power reserve. Moreover, one can get some of their watches with the left-side crown.
Thanks for the support and feedback. It was on of my earlier videos and still experimenting with editing etc but will keep it mind for future videos. Cheers 👍
I'm struggling with this very decision at the moment.also considering Sinn, Stowa, Zenith Pilot, Longine Spirit and Brenmont Broadsword. What do you think?
Don't know much about Bremont but the others are all great choices. Personally I have a soft spot for Sinn. They are proper tool watches and very robust. My recommendation is try them all on before buying and see which one you connect with the most. Good luck with your search 🙂
What did you end up buying? I have a Zenith Pilot type XX and absolutely love it. One of my fav watches. Recently bought a Laco venedig (liked the idea of the luminous dial which isn't offered by many manufacturers). I love absolutely love this watch. I was also considering a Stowa (wanted a stowa bronze to test out how I would "live" with the bronze - was not sure if bronze patination was for me so the idea was to buy a relatively cheaper watch in bronze in case I hated the patina) but eventually, the lumed dial was more fun and that's what I went with. I am sure having a second flieger from Stowa would be stupid so I guess stowa is out for me. Cant tell you too much about Bremont except that it has a strange reputation. Sinn is loved by the watch community but I just don't like their designs, not even close to what Zenith does!!!!!
It's a miss conception that these watches were worn by the pilots. Beobachtungsuhr (observation watch) as the name suggests was used by the observers/navigators.
2, because Laco also has ETA. Selitta based watches and that's what the Mark should have been pinned against. Otherwise, Laco was put in a disadvantageous position.
I’m looking at a Laco Aachen with the upgraded Miyota movement listed on their website as a Laco 31. Is it more accurate? More robust? Does anyone have any direct experience with this movement?
Laco 21 is the Miyota Base 821 A Movement (approx 42 hrs power reserve) and Laco 31 is the Miyota Base 8315 Movement which is a slightly improved movement with better power reserve (about 60 hours or power reserve )and decoration with blue screws etc. They both run at -10 to +20 seconds a day. Hope this helps. Good luck with your purchase
My choice would be the IWC all day all if someone handed me both and said pick one take it home FREE. I think that is a fantasy so , are we there or in the real world?
It's not really a fair comparison. The Laco pilot watch is much better looking than the IWC. You should have pitted it against the big pilot watch instead.
Thanks for your feedback. As stated at the start of the video, this wasn't a comparison to show which is better. These are watches I owned and the goal was to show the connection, history and show watch enthusiasts who are new to the hobby that the laco is a great affordable alternative with a genuine history. Dont own a big pilot so couldn't compare it. Hopefully one day I can get access to a big pilot to do a comparison. Having said the a big pilot is significantly larger and more expensive.
Given the heritage I would go for Laco. I appreciate that IWC manufactured Fliegers during WW2 but it was not in the quantity that Laco did.
For the money laco offers a lot of value and is a great choice!
@@BasicallyWatches I do like the onion crown.
Such a good practical review how it wears. Not seen such reviews. Most talk technical stuff. Keep it up mate.
Wow!!! Never heard of Laco before. It definitely is an affordable alternative to IWC. I learnt a lot from this video. Love it!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Miguel
Thanks Miguel. Love your content too
@@BasicallyWatches thank you 🙏
Got a Aachen oliv limited edition, my favorite watch in my collection. Its also so practical and fits my style so well it just stays on my wrist...
what else is in your collection?
Just ordered one of those Laco. Stowa was even too much $ for me but thank god Laco offers entry level lineup!
Congratulations on your purchase!
Excellent video. Very helpful. Thanks!
Laco Leather strap is feel very durable and giving pilot vibe ! I think their Strap is the best aesthetic for Pilot watch.
Agree 😊
Please skip the background music. Does not any added experience. Sorry.
You said it rite, never heard of Laco before but will definitely give it a looks.
Thanks for the video and update,
Cheers

Big fan of Laco's watches and customer services. You can get a great Laco Flieger with all the bells and whistles for $1500. Much better than the IWC.
Love your videos
Thank you! appreciate the support
What are your thoughts on the optional upgraded Miyota movement
thanks replied to your other comment
The Laco is so much more beautiful. For a fraction of the price.
in your review i can tell you favor the iwc=no neg on atm ect.ect

I wonder what must people think during II ww when they capture enemy pilot and he has equipment from the same company (talking about IWC).
🤔

Just no, $4k for the IWC. Crazy…
1 Loved it, thank you
🙏
iwc = i would have expected a better atm for that upper price range
Too bad the Laco doesn’t hack. I guess it doesn’t really matter that much but it’d be nice. Great video and nice footage. Keep up the good work
Thanks for your kind words. Yeah would have been nice if it had a hacking movement but it's not a biggie it didn't bother me at all
They do now

IWC is the reincarnation of abusing the overhyped Swiss quality.
