Important Note: Laco has recently upgraded their 821a movements to hack. So disregard any negatives mentioned about the non-hacking. I think this inclusion makes these even more of a no-brainer.
Thank you for this review! I don't mean to take any business away from your shop, but want to mention that Laco now offers two upgrades for the Augsberg and the Aachen: a somewhat upgraded and decorated Miyota movement, 8315, with 60-hour power reserve and hacking, and anti-reflective coating for the sapphire crystal. The movement upgrade is $70 USD, and the anti-reflective coating is $60 USD. These have to be purchased directly from Laco (I assume).
I have this one and love it. The lume is off the chart good and watch is very comfortable to wear. I know a big deal was made on the watch movement downgrade to get it in the price range but mine tracks very well and does have hacking. If it wasn't for the Eza Sealander I bought from Teddy on my wrist right now it would be this Laco watch
@@vegashift I didnt go for the antireflective coating, because I dont like scratches on the crystal. However, most coatings can be buffed off by a jeweler, should you not like it or want to get rid of the scratches, which might make it worth a try.
Laco also does personalized engravings! I’m purchasing this for my brothers birthday. Laco is fantastic I own the Wien model and it’s my everyday wear now. The lune is gorgeous.
Not weird at all. Whats weird is a reply on your comment 1 year later when someone else happened to buy one too lol. I like the crown of the Stowe a bit more , thats about it though I totally agree.
Really enjoy your content, Teddy. I own the Aachen Blaue Stunde Pilot Type B and really enjoy it. I wanted a basic Flieger with heritage and a splash of color.
It depends on your take. If you like the historical flieger heritage, go for laco. But if you prefer the Vietnam war field watch, take hammy. If you care about the specs, go for hammy because of its eta-based mechanical whose performance is better.
I'd love to see you do a review of the Laco Paderborn Erbstuck which is also on your site. That is just another step up from this entry level and something i love to hear your thoughts on.
Thanks for watching, Henry. On these, they are just for aesthetics, but on the originals that were strapped on during WWII they helped add an additional layer of leather underneath that was used to fasten these over flight jackets and the extra layer of leather also helped with protecting the skin from temperature changes in the cockpit.
Hi Teddy! A very nice watch indeed. But do you think it's better with the standard sapphire or with the optional anti reflective coating? It costs only 50 Euros...
Hi there Teddy! I really enjoy watching your videos and I recently noticed that you have a website to purchase watches. I'm very excited about this watch: Laco Augsburg 39 mm I only have 2 questions *Do you ship to México? In your website the 39 mm version is already sold out *Will you have in stock soon again? Thank you
I also live in mexico and bought this laco fleiger in THIEL BUTIKE POLANCO, they also have a website by the same name. Check it out you wont be disappointed 👍
@@sammcguinness yeah I was wrong, I was thinking of RAF pilot watches which were generally much smaller than the ones issued to Luftwaffe pilots, and this is obviously based on the Luftwaffe style.
I own a few lacos…. All the miyota varieties I’ve always been curious why the Miyota line ups of their pilots have the green / yellow tint to the numerals while the upper end models (Munster, saabbrucken, etc) have a more white. Different lume?
I don't think that should be a point of concern personally. Personal opinion but its pretty true its original applied shade and shines very bright. I have a Sinn 556 and it is a nice watch but the lume is underwhelming since it is a true white.
@@TeddyBaldassarreReviews thanks for the quick reply! I think I might just make that the next one in my collection then. Keep up the great work on the channel -- definitely one of my favorite resources for everything watches!
Do you think the Laco 31 movement is worth the additional $70? Thinking very hard about getting this watch...It would be my most expensive watch by far. Definitely not in a financial position to be a high-end watch collector...so the $100-$250 range is my comfort zone but for this watch...I might stretch a bit.
Best Entry? You only need to buy a Laco or Stowa and they are both cost almost the same. These Brands are the original producers of these Flieger watches in WW2. Forget IWC.
This watch is great except for the green hue on the lume. It looks horrible in the daytime. Makes the watch look odd. Shouldve been bgw9 lume instead. It’s so bad I sold it shortly afterwards. Spend the extra money and get their slightly higher line. Trust me.
I will never buy from Laco official website again. They charge $50 for deliver at check out and I pay another $50 at door step when arrive. I pay totally $100 delivery charge for $300 watch. That is crazy poor arrangement from Laco official website store.
Sorry, that's a lot of money for a watch with that movement. Escape time give you a better movement, sapphire crystal, and a much better water resistance. OK, Escape Time come out of Asia, but who really cares? If you want to pay for a brand with heritage, I can understand people buying it, otherwise I just don't get it. Finally, I don't understand 39mm Fliegers. Pilots watches are meant to be large, and even the 42mm is on the small side for a Flieger
Some people have small wrists but like the Flieger aesthetic. For me, 42 mm is the absolute largest I can wear without looking silly. And as far as price, personally I'd rather have a watch with history and heritage of Laco going back almost 100 years than buying a knock off from "escape time" just for better specs. Fortunately, in a market economy there are companies that cater to all tastes.
