I've been watching this channel 6 hours straight and I'm not even a drummer
Marcos Gava ive been watching a long time too, i just subed today, love this guy, hell im a guitar player!
me too hahahahah
Same
haha peasant
It’s the voice
You a genius.
Hey I know you :3
@Winky Tinky Doo r/woooosh
Enjoy your brand new drum kit..😂😂
22' snare... i dare you
Yes plese do it
+matthew rhodes well. good luck finding a 22 inch snare wire .
I'm pretty sure he'll find a way to make one!
+Christophe Khabouth yeah . It would be pretty damn nice to see and everything but practical
He could use catgut without any issues, like a marching snare does. You can get good catgut snare cord in 48" lengths for about $10, or get 20 feet for about $50. All he would need is a marching snare throw off, which isn't difficult to acquire.
for those who came here to listen to the blue tom, its at 12:42
omfg lol thanks
XD thanks!
howd you know 😂
The hardware popping up at 0:05 made me giggle out loud. You're a genius hahaha.
This guy must be a carpenter for a living. His creativity with wood shows that and all of those tools (drill press, table saw, router, ect) all cost THOUSANDS. Dude must make bank too
this is so awesome, I can't believe I haven't found your channel yet. Awesome stuff man.
I did this same project a few times in the past. About 7 years ago I converted an old 20"×12" marching bassdrum I had into a "megabass snare" for an 1980's over the top "cannon shot" type snare effect I needed for a demo track I was writing/recording & it was actually a pretty unique drum lol. I connected 2 10" snare strands from a couple of popcorn snares I made once & made it fit the 20" snare side pretty good! eventually I ended up making it into a drum coffee table for my studio/mancave lol. I dig your videos & money saving tips & ideas for the starving drummers out there! I've rebuilt, customized & messed around with percussion and other instruments since I was 8 years old & still love the gitty feeling I get when I'm working on a drum project or find an old drum kit at a yard sale for cheap so I can restore it & give it new life or resell it & make a lil $$ :)
Nice dry dark old school-ish hip hop snare sound
I really like the snare drum man. It sounds good. I have a request though. Can you make a video of different pitch tuning (low/mid/high) without muffling and then the same different pitch tuning with muffing. I would love to hear how dynamic it can be. (after you get the new head of course.) :D
probably the best secondary snare ive ever heard
straight 90s hip hop snare sound, well done build
Hey man I just wanted to say I'm a big fan of your videos and how they are set up. You do such a good job of editing them and it shows that you put a lot of time into it. Keep up the good work!
Great video with some AWESOME ideas! My favorite (since no one asked) is the rim conversion. Great idea since some places charge twice as much for snare side rims.
Oh...and thanks for being a drum hoarder. Now I can prove to my wife that I'm not the only one!
I wish you would have played the drum without all of that muffling. Remove the wallet and star gel. Let's hear that baby ring.
too much snare buzz, Im hoping the other head will help that
Drew Kane... You are back again arguing with some ringing of the toms. You argued about some tom ringing on Steve's channel.
Donnie Miranda I am not arguing, and I believe you have me confused with somebody else.
Lol. No. You argued with me about how I enjoy shitty tones on my toms. You can look up "Reno head test" and you'll find Steve's channel and you'll see the comments where you and I are arguing. Lol. Have a good day.
Donnie Miranda If I said it, I meant it. Have a good day.
I like the way it sounds it sounds muffled and deep it so like a bass drum with snares good job
His videos are so quality, why doesnt he have more attention and subs?
What a cool snare drum makeover! I would call this wrap the Birthday Tie-Dye.
It sounds like a regular snare pitched down! Insane!
You are so creative and talented with your custom made drums and hardware. Keep up the hard work. I appreciate your videos and what you do for it.
Great !!!! love that tie dye colouring
This looks like a snare that Daru Jones would use!
Man the finish is beautiful!
looks killer! but i'd put a Remo Diplomat coated on TOP... you'll need a really thin/low mass head to get that high, snare-like tension for stick bounce/reactivity.
Love it!
+Jim B. i think you haven't seen lance's videos yet, go see it he makes custom cymbals for the drum he plays. he knows what he tells you and it's his preference
"This thing looks amazing and I love the way it looks"
Seems like a lot of effort for a not-so-good sounding snare, but I do appreciate your dedication and technical skill. I enjoyed the video, here, take my like!
I know this was 4 years ago but hes still the most creative guy on UA-cam.
Just got around to ordering my first Wrap from Walopus. Custom Wrap too! Thanks again!
This is my new favorite snare
BRO LOVIN THE SOUND OF IT
I'm really liking that snare! I'd tune it really high to see what it can do.
Nice. I like the drill modification.
yo why hasn’t david mad a phat snare yet? like we talking a W I D E lad an absolute UNIT of a snare, why david? why don’t you give us the super snare
This snare is awesome. I want one!
I just absolutely love your channel. 😆
Oh my god! This thing is huge!!!
Men i love how you build everything you need. I would love to make my own snare drum.
Sounds like ass but it looks pretty. I'm biased because I like tight little piccolo snares that split your ear hole.
well if I wanted it to sound like a piccolo snare, I would make it a piccolo
rdavidr Not hating, David, just commenting. I've watched your videos for a couple years now and I know well enough that not everything you make is going to be a personal hit for me but that hasn't stopped me from watching. You dig it, and that's all that matters.
Sounds great and looks great.
Love your videos and the creativity you have bro keep good work and love the snare so meaty and punchky
I love the sound of it
Dude those fills were so gooooooood what an interesting style
Dude this is amazing! If your Job for life was fixing and building drums, you would be the best! Now I want to make a snare drum!
Let's hear it cranked up to the stratosphere! I bet it sound amazing tuned tight. You keep at it, you wizard you.
I just made a 14x 10 steel drum. I rolled it rather than casting it (I don't have a foundry that burns at 2,500 degrees) it didn't come out amazing but it works. some of the lug holes are slightly off. next time I'm going to do a free floating snare so I have less to mess up on.
Great drum. Great song too...
Cool track and snare sound
That's beautiful.
I have the same combination square as you. I can only assume this will gift me with your powers of drum manipulation.
This drum sounds great! Just try to get some custom Remo bottoms for it, just ask your local drum shop, as Remo makes almost any size and type on special order, but just be prepared for the price, about 60 - 80 $ per head, depending on the size.
Great job David. Sounds cool
Sweet Sounding Drum, Awesome Tone.
You make very engaging videos about really fun projects - great stuff!
That song at the end and your playing was fucking great!
That snare sounds so gnarly man!
sounds freaking good man
Damn son.
Great build! For less than the price of whatever the cheapest overpriced piece of junk they have at Guitar Center, you've got a totally unique snare with tons of character. Definitely need to put a new resonant head on it. I tried a resonant tom head on one of my snares once and had similar issues. No sensitivity, hard to tune, etc. Loved the build and looking forward to your next project.
Sounds cool and it's like a rope drum!
Cool project. I'd be curious to the sound without the dampening. It doesn't sound THAT much different from a dry 14" snare as is. Glad you have fun with your projects. I usually mess with electronics for fun.
you are so creative dude i love your channel
Best snare ever
Beautiful! You are very skilled and talented!
Shit this snare sounds aaaaaaaaaaaawesome!
it reminds me of old Slingerland snaredrums
Does it? He has moon gel and his wallet on it to control it. And that's only what we can see
@@whiskerbiscuit6674 Dude, you have ears, dont you?
tip of advice use an oil while drilling holes and sawing makes it less effort as well as saving bits and sawblades
Sounds awesome
Dude that shit sounds completely AMAZING
I love the sound of that snare brother!!! damn good job!
Very 70s sounding. Cool.
I didn't like the tie dye at first, but it came out pretty sexy!
i like this sound... vintage
Amazing project. That is one thick sounding fat boy of a snare drum.
Sounds awesome, cant wait til I can give something like this a go.
and thus.. RDR Custom Drums was born
6:45
You mad man
Very nice!! I want to make a snare drum one day.
Thanks man, you should make one out of some 1/4" plate!
That would be one heavy drum. :P
Next time you do something like that, instead of cutting the snare gate out for a strap, just drill two holes for blind cord. As one can imagine it's easier and keeps a lot more meat in the area. Just a thinker for those that like to tinker.
Very cool resutl!
That was sweet! I wanna make one!
it sounds like bob bryar's snare, so good. nice job man
I must say, you did awesome job! How about tuning it really high like marching snare, I bet it will sound even better!
One of my favorite so far, good stuff man!
dang, just saw this awesome video man. crazy 16" fat snare sound. I'm definitely gonna try to make one myself soon. minus the crazy wrap. lol
Please post an update once you put on the proper reso head!
YOU SHOULD MAKE A JINGLE WEDGE !!!!! It would be bad ass !!!
love that fat snare sound and it looks great! thanks for the video; its inspiring to make my own snare out of an old tom.
awesome job dude!!
Cool! I love drums & Drummers (although I'm not one, myself)!
Instead of mounting this extra hardware (i.e. the floor tom legs), you can also use a Pearl snare stand, the basket is extendeable up to 16"!
Another awesome vid
Great playing at the end! your drum sounds awesome!
Cool snare dude
freaking sweet snare drum!
love your videos :)
cheers
Very appropriate for it being 4/20!!
It is different. Way to call out Pearl, they just got served.
You should make a drum set snare out of a 14" floor tom. Don't cut it down or anything, just put new rims and the throwoff and buttplate and make it a 14x14 (or similar) snare.
im brazilian,you is very crazy!!!!!
That high-fiving starfish is hilarious 😂
That is one phat snare
Nice man! Kinda sounds like the snare sound on Black Sabbath's Paranoid album.
