- This is the way! As a follow-up to my wooden intarsia R2D2 - which is easily my favorite project of the past year - I created this Mandalorian piece using walnut and cherry veneers and basswood. I also spent a little more time on the frame to make it an interesting aspect in and of itself. I absolutely love the way it all turned out! Thanks so much for watching and May The Force Be With You!
Update! I have decided to sell this piece. If interested, check it out on Etsy: www.etsy.com/l...
Here is the Scroll Saw I used: amzn.to/2PRj0Vy

I Rory. This is another great project. I will publish the video in today's Scrollsaw Workshop blog. I know that many of my readers will enjoy seeing this project created. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much Steve!! I have enjoyed your blog this past year and really appreciate the support!
Working with walnut is soo nice! As the famous Captain Reynolds said "live long and prosper"
Star Wars Star Trek, same thing. 😂😂😂
@@RLLWoodworks and I threw in a little Firefly🤣
I love you 3,000
Finished work looks amazing.
3 things that will make this easier. 1st- take the brace off your scroll saw, it’s in the way more then it holds the wood down. 2nd- get better blades and tension them correctly and then there will be less sanding and the wood will not bounce as much. 3rd- put packing tape over the the pattern and it won’t come peel off.
Amazing! Your patience paid off.
Thank you so much!! I have this hanging in my shop and still love to look at it. Thanks for watching!
@@RLLWoodworks I’m now online looking for scroll saws😁
Awesome to hear!! The Wen that I have is a great for entry level. It’s not perfect but it’s worth the money.
Watching this whole video was like watching a double sunset on Tatooine. Great job Rory!
🤣🤣🤣 thanks Bret!
Not even sure where to begin. The finished product is amazing. Wrapping sand paper around some conduit for sanding the chamfer is super handy. And using plain old 5 minute epoxy and latex paint for the epoxy fill? Genius. No need for expensive epoxies and pigments here! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for the kind words!! Really appreciate you watching. I will say, the paint/epoxy thing does make it a little softer than straight epoxy. Worked fine for this but would be careful in other applications. Thanks again!!
Awesome job. I really like this. You are incredible talented.
Thank you so much!! It was a lot of fun to make.
Thats incredible, a lot of work
Thanks so much for watching!! Tedious but lots of fun to make.
@@RLLWoodworks Well worth it though, great work.
Thank you!! 🙏🏻
Omg you did an awesome job absolutely gorgeous I think anyways. So amazing. Be proud!
Thank you so much! I am just about to start my project for May the 4th, 2022!
@@RLLWoodworks looking forward to it
Great work! Glad that sanding droid stopped by. If you ever run across them, send it my way. I'd love to tackle a project like this, but the hours of sanding is keeping it at the bottom of my to do list.
Thanks man!! Yeah it was brutal at times. Highly recommend basswood if/when you do. Not sure how those dudes do it with maple and walnut.
Really Cool Rory. Such an awesome finished product. I definitely need one of those sanding droids.
Thanks Shane! I think they sell them at the Franklin Woodcraft 🤣
@@RLLWoodworks in that case I know they are out of my price range.
Haha harbor freight has some but they are made from old Jawa scraps so...
@@RLLWoodworks that's what I figured, and you probably have to watch a UA-cam video on how to properly align all of the parts.
🤣🤣🤣
That turned out great
Thank you so much! Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Very nice project, well done my man…well done
Thank you so much!! Lotta fun to make for sure.
This is such an awesome project, great job!
Thanks man! Definitely one of those projects where I question my life decisions during the process but am really happy at the end 🤣
@@RLLWoodworks is that the WEN 2920 scroll saw?
This one is the 3922 which is just over $100 on Amazon. It’s not the best but does a decent job with simple projects.
This is the way
Great project, turned out awesome!!

Absolutely amazing man - love seeing the process!
Thanks so much Ethan. Really appreciate you watching man. It was a blast to make!
Very cool!
Thanks so much for watching!!
Fantastic piece, and a good video! I've never seen the paint/epoxy inlay done with the 5 minute variety, I'm going to have to try that 👍
Thanks Jeff! Appreciate you watching man. It’s definitely a little softer than pure epoxy when cured but for something like that it was perfect.
Amazing !!!
Thank you!!
Great project and appreciate the video going through the whole process. Hopefully that mystery sander will find their way to my shop soon 😁
Thanks so much for watching Christy! I know right?! I need to find out how that happened.
Amazing. What was the finish? Spray lacquer?
Thank you!! Just some spray polyurethane.
nice work
This is beautiful especially compared to the one I made a few years back on my channel! (I won't link here but please go check it out)
Thanks so much I will definitely check it out!
